We know that Mirage rented his, Wraith's was a pre-existing structure and Caustic got his by offering to "fix" the toxic spill in KC. But it's never explained how Octane, Crypto, Bloodhound and Pathfinder got theirs. Did they ask Syndicate for them, was it rewarded to them for doing well in the games, or is there another explanation for it entirely?

Bloodhounds was already there, technically. And it was updated to house an increase in prowler populations and deal with it

I'm pretty sure Octane and Pathfinders were done as marketing stunts by the syndicate. Gauntlet has tons of banners and looks very roughly built, like the type of platforms you'd see on a gameshow like wipeout or njnja warrior and the Boxing ring had huge adverts all over the games before welcoming in contestants with the top part being kind of like a viewing area

Crypto technically hacked himself into the games even though the Syndicate decided to accept him anyway so it could be a safe theory that he'd hacked in his own town takeover too. That's not too dumb to say, is it? I could see him wrestling with that satellite to make it happen.

These people are celebrities, they gain lots of funds from wins that they can put aside from their personal goal, e.g. the followers for octane would have backed hit TT to spice to games up
