Finally pulled the trigger and got the game.
Go straight into online with a vague understanding of how to play. Scurry around for a bit with my PMC, figuring out controls and stuff. Get lucky and blindside someone, killing them without taking a hit. Loot his body (he’s fully loaded out) but have no idea what I’m doing plus paranoid I’m gonna get killed, so I grab some random items and probably leave behind some good stuff. Then I’m running along, figuring out how the game works as I go by looking at my phone. Almost make it to an extraction point, but get sidetracked looting and a Scav (I think) kills me while I’m not paying attention.
Great game! Haven’t felt that kind of tension in a long time.
ID: h8715v4Lol, honestly pretty good starting run! Here's a few tips to get you started, but mostly for the map and ballistics spreadsheets. My game significantly improved once I started using maps to orient myself.

Going prone and not being able to look up even if you’re on the slightest downward incline is pretty annoying. Sometimes if moving it’s hard to tell that what you’re going prone on. For example shoreline has a lot of micro hills. Idk you should be able to look up a little higher while prone imo

ID: h86rwd5Not sure it makes much of a difference if you're moving around at the time but otherwise yes. Unless I'm mistaken it doesn't drain your aiming stamina any faster if you're holding your breath

Yo why can't I stop playing this game? I'm trying to reach level 20 so I can sell the Intel folders I've got on scav runs and 9/10 raids I go on are nothing but testicular torsion agony and the only way I get anything is scav runs but I can't stop fucking playing it why am I doing this to myself

A curious thing happened to me today. I was trying to do that one quest for Jaeger where you have to kill 6 PMCs at the Factory office area. I spawned in with SSh-68 helmet and MF-UNTAR armor vest which was at durability ranging from 37%-44% (can't remember which one exactly, though I'm leaning towards the 37%). Anyways, I got into the third floor office area, when suddenly there were shots going off at me, luckily he missed all of those. I threw a nade and then tried to rush him but he escaped towards the stairs area (His running animation suggested he was carrying a pistol). Anyways threw a nade from the office towards the area he was in to supress him and went out of room and waited for him to peek. When he did we started shooting though he quickly put me down in what seemed to be at max 3 bullets. Well anyway, went into the injury screen and noticed that he got me into the thorax with 9x18 PM PS gs PPO armor, so I figured he killed me with a Makarov, I laughed it off and forgot about it. Few hours later I remembered it again and found it curious so I tried the Battle Buddy app with the penetration simulator. Turns out he would need a LOT of hits before he could even penetrate my armor with that ammo. I guess I just got Tarkov'd, anyways just an interesting little story.

Hey y’all I’m a very new player and was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on how to get better and get over the anxiety while being in the game
ID: h85o4btOne thing that's helped me: anything I take into raid I assume I will lose. So when a situation gets stressful I tend to notice it now and tell myself that the outcome doesn't matter. I rarely feel tense when playing now but I miss it sometimes. The tension is a big part of what made me love learning the game.
Scav runs are great for grabbing a few valuables to sell and running out. You can easily make 100-200k roubles per scav run once you get used to the game controls and learn where the loot is.
Always use your best gear. Skill and map knowledge matters a lot in this game but using better gear gives you a chance to react when you're attacked rather than just immediately dying

Sherpa's are BSG officiated player's who take time out out of their gameplay to teach new players Escape From Tarkov.
They will help you with everything from gun builds, learning an unfamiliar map, to brand new player basics.

Few dumb questions about armour.
I basically just use paca armour and occasionally the higher tier armoured rig. But this stuff is going to be like strapping paper plates to me against anything bigger than a buckshot round or pistol.
If i find a broken armour after killing someone like 0/60 can i take it outnwith me and repair it?
How can I reliably get better armour than this without flea market? I dont have any quests for ragman yet at lvl 14 so cant level his rep.
ID: h86v91aAny armor below 50% durability (this is below 50% of the max durability, not 50% of the lower repaird durability) is basically useless. Once armor gets damaged it exponentially loses its penetration protection. This is why the Korund armor is pretty good because of its reparability. You can repair it like 4 times to almost max durability and for very cheap. Reparability is designated by the armor material. The drawback of the Korund is that it takes about one shot and then it loses a lot of its protection due to durability loss...but it'll protect you for about one shot of very good ammo which is what you want with armor.
Getting good armor is tough without flea, but just run the good stuff Ragman has...it'll at least protect you from scavs and other people running mid-tier ammo. This is why you should focus on quests and get to flea asap. You need access to good ammo and armor to run serious pvp builds. There's some good videos on youtube about armor.

Yes, repairing armour will take off a bit of the overall durability of the armour depending on which trader you use to repair. Prapor has the lowest cost but highest durability loss, Skier is in the middle and Mechanic has the highest cost but lowest durability loss. (Note: repairing counts towards the money spent at a trader for loyalty so I suggest repairing at Skier since insurance money counts towards Prapor and you should always sell items to Mechanic and Therapist)

At level 17 you get Ragman LL2. He'll then sell you the 6B3TM-01M armoured rig which in my opinion is a very good choice for much of the game as it's level 4 armour and cheap. It's also made from Titan, which is very repairable. The downside is that it has only 20 slots, 4 2x1 and 4 1x1 slots.
The other option at LL2 is the 6B13 which is just the armour so you can put your own rig on top. It's made from ceramic though which is pretty much the worst for repairing.

This is my first wipe though so it’s kind of fun being like “oh I wonder what this is oh it’s garbage.” The first time loading up and having to examine EVERYTHING was pretty obnoxious though lol. I’m sure in another wipe or two I’ll be like ok I’m over it.

im a avid scav runner i always sit at scav and pmc extracts till about the last 7min of a raid but have yet to extract with any pmcs. if you use scav for the love of god sit at scav and pmc extract for a bit and if you only run pmc cut that wiggly little scavy boi a break and check/sit at the scav and pmc extracts trust me you dont need his 155 and bandage.
i play on Atlanta and Washington so if anyone sees this do me a solid and stop by the scav exit for a bit i play between 7am-5pm and 10pm-12pm if i have days off its usually 8am-12pm.
ID: h86d168It's just not happening. Scavs have nothing to lose and PMCs often go in with more expensive gear than anything a scav will find during a scav raid.
For every one of you, there are like 500 bloodthirsty scavs that are ready to shoot each other in the head for a 40 durability toz.

Anyone else having longer wait times after the patch? Launching takes longer, joining a match takes longer, and the after match loads are taking longer. I’ve only been playing for a few weeks so I’m not sure if this is par for the course with patches or not.

Is there a Scav rep bug? Player Scav shot me and I respond by shooting him and killing him. I take a Scav rep hit (other Scavs aggro'd me as well).
100% positive he shot me first. I actually waited as he missed me several times and then legged me. I got him when he was reloading.

What's up with scavs seemingly looting the locked cash registers in OLI and Goshan? Do AI scavs pretend to do that? Are player scavs pretending for some reason? Is the key easily findable on the map as a scav and they're player scavs actually looting them? Or are BEAR PMCs going into interchange dressed like scavs with the key just so they can trick player scabs into leaving them alone while they get the cash registers? I'm confused.
ID: h8futn5AI scavs are coded to go to containers and 'loot' them. They don't take anything, but it's done to make AI more realistic and harder to differentiate between AI and players.

Damn. I got too cocky trying to sell Mechanic gunsmith reward guns and one of his kiba reward keys and set myself from .70 pts to -0.08 rating. Now this is the ultimate pain.
