- The Soul Reaver games really need remakes.
-
The writing was so damn good. If they remake it...they need to just keep the dialog.
ID: h8l4cinID: h8lcc22"Become my Soul Reaver, my Angel of Death"
That phrase would prove to be the Elder God's undoing as everything comes full circle with Raziel giving Kain the power to kill the Elder God"ID: h8lepveYou know... I think I'm just realizing how much the narrative in LoK and its masterful writing set me up to love the scattered dark lore of the Souls Series... and wow, if we could get a Legacy of Kain level narrative weave on a game with Soulslike intensity, that would be amazing. Sadly, the voice of the Elder God has passed away and I think the studio has been shuttered?
ID: h8kjjacJust graphics and maybe make controls a bit better (especially the Soul Reaver ones). Sound and story have to remain exactly as is!
I wish we had a conclusion after Defiance too, but with everyone gone from the original devs, I'd rather not get a sequel at all, than getting a crappy one.
ID: h8l7r6jThw acting of Raziel and the Elder God (Micheal bell/Tony Jay) still stands up to modern games
ID: h8k8zwnYeah, for me, Ideally they wouldn't change much. Just the graphics. I would not mind the world and boss fights being the same. I hate why they try to change way to much. Not sure how the world maps would hold up today. It has been a long time since I played. I remember them being pretty big though. So I guess I just want a remaster. Not necessarily a remake.
ID: h8kdok7There's actually a ton of content that was cut, I'd want it fully uncut.
There's a thing on YouTube with it.
ID: h8lhyuzOne of the best lines in the series and words to live by "Hate me raziel but do it honestly"
-
And Blood Omen.
ID: h8k8cjmI mean technically we could include them by default since soul reaver wouldn't exist without Blood Omen. Cain is just as important as Azrael.
ID: h8kes7eKain*
ID: h8kdrjqRaziel*
ID: h8l0s9xWell, the entire thing is actually about Kain. Hence the Legacy of Kain title on each game.
ID: h8lcxedNever happen. The og blood omen is still held by Dennis Dyak and there's a shitload of legal red tape about the game and content. It's why the game isn't available anywhere to buy these days. Square would have pay a buttload of cash to settle decades old copyright claims.

I would love for a remake but I'm pained Tony Jay already passed away because his voice was perfect for the elder god.
ID: h8kspj9Just scrolling down to see if anyone already mentioned this. There are a couple of people I'd think of to replace him, but his voice is quite the loss.
ID: h8l4swvSurprisingly just watched Benedict Cumberbatch’s studio performance for Smaug. And his voice was doing some amazing cool low rumbles like Tony Jay. Potential.
ID: h8ld39dRene Auberjonas is also gone, so no me Janos Audron content either
ID: h8lln7aI actually heard they have like digitally sampled/can 'make' his voice because it was so iconic.
I don't know any examples, I just remember reading it or so when he passed on.

I miss those games, they were good.
ID: h8k9la2they still exist. I remember playing soul reaver 2 as my first foray into the series and there was nothing better than pulling up those light fixtures and impaling those mofos 🙂
ID: h8klqjsSo much fun, I remember playing the first Legacy of Kain and being hooked.
-
Totally agree, stick with the original gameplay and update the graphics. The voice acting was excellent in the original soulreaver, try and keep that in.
-
Soul Reaver is the game that made me pay attention to storyline in videogames. Before that I was just a kid playing games just to play them, to pass the time and nothing else. But after Soul Reaver suddenly everything changed. I'm looking at videogames like a book, or a movie. It's still one of my favorites.

Rumor has it Crystal Dynamics will announce this later in 2021.
ID: h8l7i0fI saw that too. They already pulled it from Steam a while back and they said it would be back, that they were updating it.
-
Blood Omen, then Legacy of Kain... i mean cmon now.
Need the whole story.
-
They DO!
-
Now thats a good fucking idea
-
Fucking a... I've thought this a few times. The new gen systems would rip the graphics. It could be great synergy. wtf Sony!
-
I would love to have it even with slightly better graphics but I would like better camera and character control.
ID: h8l4jcyTried to replay it a few years ago to find the controls completely unbearable. So I just watched all the cinematics instead.

Can’t agree more there
-
One of my first on psone… one of my favorite series. Great pic!
-
Fully agree 100%
-
Leaving my prayers here in hopes some entity sees, please whoever you are listen to op. Peace be with you
-
Great game. 100% agree
-
It really does. The first one definitely need a remake.
-
God I miss those games soooooooooo fucking amazing
-
I'd definitely pay for a new (and PC compatible) version of Soul Reaver, those games were phenomenal.
-
Fuck yeah they do
-
I used to love feeding on souls and doing a 360 pan around him
-
I won BO2 from Tips and Tricks magazine for a caption contest loved the whole series.
-
That looks awesome
-
I would love some new entries, but what I really want is for Nosgoth to come back.
Such a sad, untimely game death.
-
The voice cast would be missing elder god; and no one can do a voice like the man who did the treasure planet narrated voice over. Legend 🙁
-
Well, last gameplay demo (the sequel, i guess?) was pretty cool. Sad thing is it was cancelled
-
Yes! Literally what I want to do. When I graduate, I want to go work for Crystal Dynamics specifically to remake the legacy of kain series.

"Given the choice, whether to rule a corrupt and failing empire; or to challenge the fates for another throw - a better throw - against one's destiny... what was a king to do? But does one even truly have a choice? One can only match, move by move, the machinations of fate... and thus defy the tyrannous stars."
"Most ironic of all, was the last gift that Raziel had given me. More powerful than the sword that now held his soul, more acute even than the vision that his sacrifice had accorded me. The first, bitter taste of that terrible illusion: hope."
THE WRITING IS SO FUCKING GOOD. I love those two quotes in particular.
