- Newly optimized ssd for the PS5 announced from TEAMGROUP.
-
... available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB configurations ...
This is a first, isn't it? You guys think Sony will update their system software and allow 8TB SSDs in the future?
ID: h8tat3gID: h8tft6sThe release notes for the beta did mention 256GB - 4TB, so yes. It could just be a "we had no larger drive to test with" rather than a hard limit, which would mean this could change quickly now that a larger drive is available.
ID: h8wjop6There was no 8TB Gen4 drive on the market when they announced the limits. Probably no hardware reason to limit to 4TB, they just haven't tested before because there was nothing to test with
ID: h8ujle2so people want to pay a million dollars for an 8TB SSD
ID: h8xjjaqI think its because 8gb m.2's arent very common in the consumer market yet and i dont think its a cap, its more that just sony doesnt expect anyone to have an 8tb ps5 compatible m.2
ID: h8te1hlThey'll most likely allow 8tb options once there are more on the market, the new gen of nvme ssd's of course and/or once they feel comfortable with how the beta turned out.
ID: h8tc1weIs it actually capped? I have loads of hardware that has a max hard drive size, SD card size etc and bigger ones work it's just when they announced the device or support the larger memory configs weren't available.
ID: h8tdao3Currently it's capped.
If you put a drive larger than 4tb it doesn't accept it.
It's only beta remember so things could change.
Are there any 8TB drives compatible with PS5 though?
ID: h8tjdp6Guarantee its capped. Most likely some type of limit on the hardware itself. These nvme drives are crazy complicated and need a lot to run, inlcuding their own microcontrollers and dram. Could be simply an issue of running something that nuts.
For an example when the ps4 added external drives they had the 8tb limit, and it actually became an issue because a common 8tb drive was actually 8.01tb
ID: h8tju1ePrice only £10,000.
ID: h8xjk98I think its because 8gb m.2's arent very common in the consumer market yet and i dont think its a cap, its more that just sony doesnt expect anyone to have an 8tb ps5 compatible m.2

So this ssd has beaten firecuda 530 in a slightly higher read/write performance damn
ID: h8v4im5That's why you don't buy day one, gotta give it some time to see what the best options are
ID: h8vdbykNot only will they get faster, they will also get cheaper
-
The 8tb is gonna cost 3 ps5s lol
ID: h8wk7v0At scalper prices
ID: h8wujlxAnd bender Hooker prices
-
If i get an 8TB i cam finally install COD, well maybe half of it.
ID: h8uzefmThis still cracks me up, and they've been selling it since the game came out.
ID: h8x4sgrUgh what the fuck lmao
ID: h8y7tipTo be fair the same Western Digital is selling sn850 nvme ssd with battlefield 2042 key included
ID: h8umlflToo true. I feel this.
ID: h8vuzqlI'm in your comment lol. I uninstalled the game maybe one week after getting the ps5.
-
Price wise what are we lookin at?
ID: h8tmk9x1TB $180
2TB $360
ID: h8tv8xnDamn.
ID: h8vbmboThat doesn't sound too bad. The Seagate Expansion card for my XSX was $220, so 1TB for $180 seems reasonable imo.
-
All I care about is price right now. I’m trying to budget out what my plans are.
-
I would actually buy this but I can't wait until October, the 600gb are driving me insane!
-
Thought these guys only made RAM, their RAM products in general are good without any issues.
ID: h8xu7d0I’ve used their SSDs a few times and they’ve been decent for my use. No massive failures or anything. It was the cheapest 1tb SATA ssd available at the time.
-
I know this isn't about this post but can someone tell me if samsung ssd 980 NVMe M.2 will work with ps5? Just got it for my birthday for my pc
ID: h8vz6h6If its the non Pro version it won't work since it's gen 3 needs to be gen 4 with 5500 read speeds.
-
Nice
-
Does this mean that this is the one that I spend my money on?
-
Another SSD and yet I haven't gotten any beta code
-
and the marketing for 'optimized for ps5' begins, easy way to weed about who i would never buy from
ID: h8wkb0mYou know there are people who aren't even comfortable with opening up the ps5 to install an SSD
ID: h8vs8brHow so? Not every consumer is a tech expert. Many people just need to know ‘okay this will work’ so they will simply buy it and install it without any issues 🙂

The Cardea Zero z440 works perfectly fine. It's actually faster than stock ssd
-
Idgaf give me 1440p
ID: h8x5dsoNobody wants 1440p give me all the m.2 ssds!!
-
Yea but how much??
-
I posted a comment a while ago and It was the wrong price, currently there no price as its not out yet but will be sometime this year
"For gamers looking to expand their PS5 storage right now, please check out the T-FORCE CARDEA A440 M.2 PCIe SSD launched by TEAMGROUP in 2021 Q2"
-
Probably need to throw in that 2nd arm to be safe.
-

Is the PS5’s nvme support capped at 4TB? The current cap for USB drives is 8TB on the console.
