ID: h9ktc9aPokémon games have never been “good” they were fun as a child but they are just absurdly easy to the point of it being trivial to play. They follow the same sort of combat system and don’t really advance the game play much beyond new Pokémon to play with and occasionally a new type or something.
The idea that Pokémon games are anything more than nostalgia trips and early entries into the video game world by children is kind of absurd in my opinion.
It’s almost like calling a fifa game bad. Like it’s the same thing they have been releasing for 20 years with updated graphics and rosters. Not sure what else you expect at this point.

I imagine if it was ported to switch it'd be on the lowest PC settings, perhaps lower. The switch is only 4 years old.

Genshin has one of the highest budgets of any game period, if you are going to call Pkemon AAA then at least call Genshin one too, game had a massive amount of money pumped into it.
Plus, is this sub now pro-gambling? Like Gatcha games make the crap EA does look tame. Just wierd to see a 180 on P2W lootboxes all of a sudden.

Saying things look like a mobile game is just braindead at this point when you consider that a lot of phones are more powerful than the switch. Also genshin may be free but it's a gacha game and to make any sort of progress you have to have much patience (1600 primogems for 10 wishes, you're getting like 200 primogens daily from hard grinding), now I like genshin but I'd rather take pokemon where I can get any pokemon I want with no restrictions

you can literally beat the abyss (hardest content in the game) with the free units.
also hard grinding? 4 daily stuff and chest from exploration is not what i'd call grind but ok.
Sadly, you do have to pay to access more pokemon because of the dlc, so that's not true anymore. or you forgot how mad people were because they cut so many pokemon to force people to get the dlc? lol

They had a plan on how the game would look and did the best with it... Pokemon has always been like this. The parodies in the 90s like on South Park seemed really out of touch when I was a kid, but I've realized over time that it's accurate to the fact that Pokemon is a franchise engineered to appeal to children and sell as many products as possible. It's not Lord of the Rings, it's not a universe created by somebody who loves to tell stories, it's a shallow product with cartoon mascots that are meant to be cute and appealing, and are meant to be so innumerable that you will collect products with different ones on them and buy more Pokemon branded stuff. They've never cared about this franchise and it's always been a trick.

You are comparing a 13 GB game vs a 338 mb game. If they made pokemon look better the game would become huge. Developers probably took that into account.

I feel like Nintendo has the version of Pokemon that we all want, the Unreal Engine kind of free roam Pokemon game. But what happens if they give that to us now? How will they further make their fanbase happy and excited? I'm thinking they're waiting for the right time to release it (also maybe the switch can't run graphic intense games like the ones we want).

Haha the last Nintendo product I purchased was the Pokemon Omega Ruby. Always wanted to get the new Pokemon games but hearing about the joy con drift issues really makes me doubt if I'll ever purchase it.

BoTW has fantastic artwork and looks pretty good.
But it also pushes the Switch beyond its limits by quite a bit in a number of locations.
That being said the Pokemon games look like ass.
But as long as they sell, nobody will care.

BoTW is a terrible benchmark for other games to build upon. Sure it's beautiful, but for a game like Zelda it fits the aesthetics. You can't expect Nintendo to make Pokemon look and feel like a Zelda game.

like they care. people are still gonna buy it. plus free game make more money that paying games. because when you buy sw/sh you might pay for the dlc and that's basically it. not sure you go over $200. when most people play free games, they spend $50-$100 every week on it for the ig cash, special mounts and outfits, powerful weapons etc.

Too be fair Genshin has been "coming soon" to the switch for a year now with no eta still. In pretty sure it cannot run on that hardware. Hell, it could barely maintain 30 fps on the OG PS4

Yea they could have done better with the graphics but, the graphics don t matter that much. As long as the game is fun to play then you can enjoy it even with bad graphics. You know the saying : "Don't judge a book by it's cover."
