My all time favorite Zelda game
ID: hawdmfjID: hawu3tkIf you like that track, check this cello cover of it, it's amazing and barely has any views.
But yes Koji Kondo was on steroids during the 90s. All of his soundtracks of the decade are masterpieces.
ID: haxxncxI remeber beating Gannon after getting the first 3 stones and thinking the game was going to over at that point (games were a lot shorter back then.) Imagine my surprise when the game reveals 8 more dungeons.
ID: haw59oiYeah. Zelda 1 was a neat idea. Zelda 2 is an underrated masterpiece. But LttP is where The series was truly born
ID: haw5rhrAnd Link's Awakening was an absolutely incredible follow-up.
ID: hawn0lgZelda 2 was pretty hated when it first came out. There was a “chip shortage” or something at the time and retailers sold the game for over $110 (which was super high for the year).
As a child I was disappointed the game was different than Zelda 1. The game was difficult, repetitive, frustrating, music was annoying. Didn’t like it at all.
ID: hawdzph100%
ID: hax282iThis was probably the first game where the buildup and hype was unlike any other game that I've ever purchased.
I had to wait for my birthday to be able to get it.
I remember it vividly. I had a baseball game that day which I gave two shits about. Played the game and then ran to the car so that my father and I could run to Toys R Us to pick it up on the way home.
Didn't even give shit that I was still in my full baseball uniform. Even when I got home, I ran downstairs and played for hours (while still wearing my uniform).
Not only did it reach my expectations, it went above and beyond.
ID: haw4tq7Definitely! I’ve played them all (even had the misfortune of playing the CD-i games) and LttP is still my #1.
ID: hawapu8Probably the best one imo (Nostalgia aside). I could just never get back into Zelda. This is the only one I'll ever go back to for multiple playthroughs.
ID: hawhsckOne of my all time favorite games PERIOD. You're in for a treat.
ID: hawbl8oHands down my favorite one of them all. I might be old but I still stand by this.
-
You are IN FOR A TREAT!! I could not stop playing this game when I was young. Beaten it at least a gazillion times like any other Zelda fan lol. One of the greats for sure
ID: havvlpeHave you ever heard of or tried randomizer?
Be prepared for another gazzilion play-throughs.
ID: havw0n0🙂 enjoy!
ID: haw11rbSome day I really want to try the LTTP x Super Metroid crossover randomizer. I bet I won't make it 10% in...
ID: havz5xoWhen I first beat it, I think the death counter was in the thousands. I was not good as a kid...
ID: haw3pd0I believe the “death counter” you’re referring to is actually the “Games Played” counter, which counts the total number of times you saved and exited the game.

Tip: read the manual and tip leaflet that came with the original game. It may save some unnecessary frustration.
ID: haw552sThat sure would have been helpful to younger me who brute forced my way through racking up over 200 deaths.
Started my lifelong love of the series though.
ID: hawbcdlI miss when games came with manuals and tips
ID: hawjg69I'm a HUGE fan of this game. It was my first ever video game, I've been playing it as long as I can remember. I play and watch the randomizer, have submitted speedrun times to the official leaderboards, and have beaten the game literally hundreds of times. I sought out the original Japanese v1.0 cartridge to have an additional copy of the version speedrunning uses.
I had no idea so much info was in the leaflet.
It's also funny how almost none of the dungeon of enemy names referenced in the manual are what they're called today (what I'd say their "official" names are)
-
First time?! Enjoy. It's one of the best, if not THE best.
-
I used to watch my brothers play this. Eventually when I was older I did a play through myself. Good memories, I can already hear the rain from the intro.
ID: haw5gsvThe tension of the opening play sequence is something I think back to frequently. The music. The rain. The guards. Everything was so freaking intense
-
Replayed this every 5 years or so since it came out. IMO the perfect video game. 10/10 GOAT.
-
I just started my own playthrough yesterday. Playing on Switch Online’s SNES application (also playing Punch-Out! on the NES feature). So far, really enjoying them both. We’ll see who beats Ganon first lmao
-
That screen just triggered the soundtrack in my head. Time to load up youtube and blast the soundtrack while i work.
-
Oh man, I really wish I was you
-
I won this game by playing it on a video game tv show back in the day. Good times.
ID: haw14ytDid you ask Nicholas Picholas his real name?
ID: haw25c2I think it IS his real name. Good guess
-
One of my all time favorite games. Have fun!
-
I can hear the sound when you press start.
-
Incredible game, truly.
I was asked recently what my favourite game of all time was, and while I wrestled with some titles in my mind, this one really felt easy to say. Couldnt recommend it enough to anyone, regardless of your age or the age of this game - it is a masterpiece.
-
Man, how many hundreds of hours I spent on this masterpiece when I was a kid. So many memories.... Enjoy it! Hope you get to play it through multiple times in the future!
-
Yeah, Liam is always in anything that is even a bit gritty and dark (Grimoire Weiß in Nier for instance) and Sam Riegel always pops up when you least expect him.
-
Off the top of my head he plays Thor in a lot of things, and Knuckles too.
-
i am playing it right now lol. cant get the mods to work though. i am actually enjoying it.
-
Mechanically, in game, Argent Cells are used for upgrades, and he can use a siphon grenade to absorb argent energy to replenish his health/armour.
-
To be fair, Levi’s Japanese VA is prolific and considered among the cream of the crop.
-
Years later, a friend convinced me to try Critical Role, and I immediately knew Liam O'Brien was the one who'd done that voiceover. The CR cast is in fuckin' everything, man.
-
It's wild. Spend a few hundred hours listening to some nerds play D&D, now they're everywhere...
-
Well, that’s what happens when you hire for qualifications over looks.
-
Yeah that's probably his most famous role, though his voicing of Lilian in World of Warcraft might be up there as well.
-
FMA was overall great in English though as well as Hellsing.

Thank you. This sub has such an "If you know, you know" attitude with its post titles. Finding the title of the damn game they've just shared a screenshot of always takes some digging through the comments.
-
LOL my first thought playing the map was “this shit is exactly sword base but with portals”

Reaching the church for the first time was such an epic moment for me, the music for SNES is amazing.
