Why can't they have more than 2 maps in the rotation? is it a choice or a limitation?

ID: hl5pgvuYes, that's what I thought too. But they could still alternate Olympus and Worlds Edge as the "other" map with an ABAC pattern (Storm Point, Olympus, Storm Point, Worlds Edge, repeat).
ID: hl5lnchI mean they had 3 maps on the rotation last season, so at the very least it's not a limitation. I don't have a source for this, so don't quote me on it, but I heard one reason for only having two maps on the rotation is to avoid overwhelming new players who'd have to learn 3+ maps instead of just two.
ID: hl61eixThat honestly sounds like a garbage excuse. When I picked the game back up (I started and stopped playing during S0), I had to learn all 3 maps at the same time, and I had no problem. People aren't that dumb, either, so the devs need to quit treating us like kids and giving out milquetoast excuses.

Or better yet, why are maps on rotation at all? A lot of other games let you choose which map(s) you want to play.
Also, what happens 3-4 years from now when there is like 10+ maps in rotation? Are we only gonna play 2 at a time still? Or are they gonna have 4/10 available? 5/10? 6/10? At that point its like... why don't we just play all the maps right now?
What is the logic behind this?

ID: hl5k2gdRealistically, in areas with lower density or just less people in general, it’s harder to get into matches at certain times or in general. Giving the player the option to pick what map increases user wait time and server usage. I imagine in the future they will probably put some maps completely out of use (starting with Kings Canyon, since a chunk of it is already gone).

I play at roughly the same time every day because of my schedule and because the map rotation is static, I only ever play the same damn map every damn day. If I'm lucky I get on a bit early or stay on a bit later and get to play a different map for 1-2 matches. It's ridiculous.
I NEVER want to play the same map in a game for 2 hours straight. Who thought that was a great idea?
ID: hl5qri1We just had 3 in rotation at the end of S10, so it's obviously possible. It's a choice. The devs even said they want to give people a chance to learn SP, thus the full week of SP only then only one other map in rotation with SP after.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Storm Point right now, though.

I don't understand why they don't make something like Storm Point/KC (or Olympus) and World's Edge the ranked map for Split Two. I get they just updated World's Edge last season but they are aware of the general distaste for the map in pubs because of Fragments. I feel like they are quite disconnected from the player base a lot of the times outside of streamers.

World's edge is the only map where you're not forced to always have one sniper or 3x rifle for every long range dik measuring shoot out. I can actually have an SMG without being a liability. Olympus like all the other big maps you always have to have a long range bs gun just too loot all game and have long range zzz fest shootouts to get cover blown and third partied only to your team cause the opposed second squad is so far away. Lastly you actually have to walk around everywhere likes it's a desert jst to fine one squad
ID: hl558oxYeah I really wish it was storm point and Olympus were on rotation I absolutely hate worlds edge I hate seeing 80% of the lobby landing in one location it drives me absolutely nuts. Their last update to worlds edge was absolutely worthless too so like idk it’s my least favorite map I’d say.

IMO they need to wipe the fragment POI completely and rebuild a smaller POI so there isn’t 7 squads remaining after the first circle

I don't get out people hate that map. Yeah its not WE but it still is pretty great, had countless great moments there.

ID: hl4xxgkI love it because you can usually always find or avoid fights. It's very open, which makes spotting enemies easy, but it also allows for the devs to make creative ways to avoid the open and sneak up on fights. Estates is normally fun to land, unlike fracture. Hammond Labs + the bunker next to it are also really fun places to fight because there's a lot of tactical ways to approach fights

ID: hl4v36pMy experience with Olympus was basically “Third Parties: The Game”, on both ends of the spectrum.
The huge empty fields and sparse cover in the open made it incredibly easy for squads to find each other based on gunfire and they didn’t have to wait very long before they could actually get line of sight to take shots.
If you ever engage with another squad on Olympus you should be prepared to fight 2-3 more immediately after because everyone everywhere can hear you fighting, knows exactly where you are and can get to you very quickly.

I don’t particularly like Olympus, but fuck if it isn’t miles ahead of Fragments Edge. Hate that damn map now, and I used to love it when it had Sorting and Trainyard.

Im really sick of every random wanting to land downtown on Worlds edge
ID: hl5hbt5I specifically lock in my legend so that I can be jumpmaster and NOT go fragments. Yet... I still get randoms who just break off anyway and go there.
But even if I don't go there, any other place I drop is a ghost town and its 4 squads left before I see an enemy.
I would enjoy Worlds Edge otherwise, but its just a mess right now.

I started playing apex in season 7. So technically olympus is my home. I miss my home. :'(

ID: hl50vhaOlympus has grown on me. Plenty of spots to hot drop, no matter the flight path, not just one place and then maybe another squad.
Plenty of loot the good POIs, short rotations makes for increased chaos.
I'm not saying it's a balanced map, it's really not. But goddamn is it a breath of fresh air when you have to drop fragment every goddamn WE match.

I am amazed how the moderators dont give a fuck about some posts but totally nuke others. Two weeks ago I posted this same template with the Hammerpoint on it and they took it down for "low effort/meme". I have nothing against you or your post obviously, just saying that the moderators dont follow even their own rules or I had bad luck and summoned a bad one.

I don't mind the break, loved the map but 4 straight seasons of this map with little to no changes made the map stale and boring. I love Olympus but I'm happy it's out of rotation for this season

They have enough players, they should just let you queue up for whichever map you want. That way all the people who hot drop would queue up for world's edge and everybody else can play Apex.
