I’m a “respect the dibs” player, personally. Occasionally I’ll ask nicely if I can have it if I really want it that bad but most of the time I’ll just tell the team to let me know if they see another one
-
The only time I would ignore a dibs is if I’m playing lifeline and octane dibs a gold pack, otherwise I respect it
ID: hq5xx6zID: hq69vrwIkr should be basic knowledge, give the damn gold backpack to support legends
ID: hq6hi6gI was lifeline and I had to trade gold armor and a gold mag for the pack back after someone snatched it from me. I mean they literally snatched it from me. I dibs it and was about to get it when our loba threw down her market and our other teammate snatched it. I gave them the cells and syringes I saved up to them as an extra to be nice but they just kept using other health items.
ID: hq63vbwI'll add gold helmets to this as well. Octane trying to dibs this when clearly Valkyrie, Fuse and Bloodhound will make better use of it.
ID: hq5ysanThis may be an unpopular opinion but as a mirage main I think mirage should have seconds on gold backpack. The invisible revive can be so nice when paired with gold backpack during a fight
ID: hq5zaceLifeline, mirage, and gibby are the three who get the gold bag first in my opinion, just because they all have ways to get you up safer.
ID: hq6cuw6Just played a match as a lifeline alongside a rando mirage. We got two gold backpacks from the prowler den thingy on world's edge. The mirage did not realize i had a gold backpack and offered his on the ground. I threw my gold backpack on the ground to show him i appreciate it, but all good. And the third Ash teammate patiently watched without snatching either. So much caring and sharing. We teabagged and frolicked to the next POI together.
ID: hq5zbs2I doubt it's unpopular. He's objectively 2nd best for it.
ID: hq623t6Why Octane? I don't get it.
ID: hq6587bIt's a common theme about octane grabbing everything even if they don't need it including gold backpack even if there's a purple backpack and a lifeline on the team despite having no buffs for revives.
Edit: it's purely strategical and can get under people's skin when one of the reasons they pick a character is to help out by reviving.
-
I will respect it, unless my teammates are being toxic prior to the dibs.
ID: hq65alrOr steal all my dibs
ID: hq68hl8I always respect the Dib. I've learned that helping a teammate helps me more than I help myself. I'll even let the octane have a dibbed golden backpack ad a Mirage. The reason is this might teach them that taking everything for themselves hurts your teams chances at being champion. It's how it learned anyways.
ID: hq69gr1I’ll respect dibs, but not to the detriment of our team and chances of winning. If I’m mirage and my non lifleline/Gibby teammate dibs a gold bag I’ll still grab it for the team benefit.
-
Always respect the dibs
ID: hq5mrokThis is the way.
ID: hq5y462Unless I'm playing lifeline and an octane dibs a golden bag
ID: hq5v4o1It is the way.
-
All I will say is if I dibs something and someone takes it, they are grounded and can't use my black market for the next 2 times I place it.
ID: hq5mv0hYup, good luck thinking I'm going to revive you in the open, if you steal my shit.
ID: hq5o5reSame.
ID: hq65s6zIts a good thing every Loba I plays with waits until we're done looting a POI before placing black market

Dibs are a contract formed at the metaphysical level. Most major religions establish that murder is among the most heinous crimes that one person can commit against another and that such an act forms a rift between the perpetrator and any form of beneficial afterlife. Taking a dibs'd item is a violation of such primal magnitude, that it transcends even that, and should be seen as voiding any guarantees you have previously established with your creator.
ID: hq5xwm0This is the way.
ID: hq6qbwzRole checks out.
-
Always respect the dibs.
Edit: Unless someone dibs a gold backpack. I'm forcibly taking that to ensure the success of the team at that point.
ID: hq60epwAgreed
ID: hq69k5tWhat if it was a Gibby?
-
Respect the dibs or I punch you in the ribs.
ID: hq5szuuI have an image of Mirage on his knees, grabbing his stomach. He stands up, visibly in pain, and then Caustic walks up, fastening his Level 3 EVO shield. "What have we learned?" he asks.
ID: hq665cg"That punches hurt? I mean you didnt have to go so far. You could have as- oh."
-
For me: respect the dibs unless A) they're literally in a different continent, or B) they've been a dick. Its literally just common courtesy, and if you want it that bad, speak up and ask nicely for it. On God tho, some people out there have a "don't care" attitude towards dibs until an item they dibs gets stolen, and then suddenly its "i dibs that asshole"; make it make sense
-
Only time I ignore the dibs is if I can bring the item to the person if they’re far from it. Like if we gotta meet up then I can easily bring it to them, but besides that, it’s a hands-off situation.
-
If my teammate needs the item and is closer just take it, a stock doesn't decide the fight. Skill does
-
If it's a situation that both teammates need the item and the person who dibsed it is way further away I think it's OK to take it. This is more when playing with friends bc it's hard to tell without a mic, with randoms I'll almost always respect it
ID: hq6f8i0I take the same approach. If I really need it to and the teammate who dibsed is not with the two of us I will 100% take it
-
Maybe I’m toxic but I’ll dibs something and be some distance from my teammates but I won’t be upset if they’re closer and grab it lol if I’m right with them then I get upset but I just keep playing because I know eventually I’ll either find another or I’ll just play smarter.
ID: hq69b8aI wish you could dibs for “need” or “greed”. I will often dibs things on spec, because I want to remember where it is if no one else wants it and I am looting toward that area. I try to give it like 3-4 sec before dibsing it, so if someone is close and really wants it, but it would be better if there was an option to specify.
-
I respect it, but if he dibs from halfway across the map when i’m right next to it, i might take it. Some teammates just dib everything, i just use better jugement. There’s times where teammates will be in party chat, and don’t dib shit, but call it between them in party chat. The amount of times i call dibs and get it taken from me regardless, is pretty much every pubs game. They don’t get a rez, plain and simple, i’m just salty like that.
-
I will always respect dibs, even if it’s something I want but another teammate managed to dibs before me, I will never take a dibs. As for those who do (whether it be my dibs or another player on our team’s dibs), you will be punished by me in some way. Whether that be I punch you until you get annoyed or I wait just that little bit longer before I revive you, I will make sure you pay for taking a dibs. There’s no point in having the system if you won’t obey it and if someone dibs what you wanted before you could dibs it yourself? Just deal with it - it’s not the end of the world. They got it fairly. But never steal a dibs. Honestly, the amount of people that I encounter in matches that do is horrific.

Taking dibs'd items is almost as bad as looting your teammates box when out of combat
ID: hq6437mI allow shield swaps and heals and ammo if you're low. You need to protect yourself if someone pops up.
ID: hq66305I loot their box if they have something I need and they won’t be able to reach their box
-
Just because somebody happened to look in the direction of the item pinged and managed to dibs it before you doesn't change the fact that you need it as well. If a purple shield next to me is dibsed by a guy 50 metres to me, that thing is mine.
Often that person doesn't even take it as well, as they find another piece of that same gear and they take that instead. It's illogical to make everyone walk even more to get everything they dibsed.
Efficiency > dibs
ID: hq6ibc9A proper pragmatic response. Fuck the dibs. Proximity>all
-
I respect the dibs even if my teammate drops something for me specifically. And when I pick up something just as someone dibs it, even if I REALLY need it, I drop and ping it.
Always respect the dibs
Make sure not to abuse it either
-
I sometimes grab the dibsed item if I'm closer ... to bring it to the wanting teammate
-
Doesn’t matter if I’m standing 2 feet from a dibsed item, I always respect it. And the teammates that don’t respect my dibs or even the 3rd player’s dibs, no longer has revive privileges
