Advice/Tips/Things to know at Masters rank?

Hey, so the big question I'm asking is really what are things I absolutely should know by now or need to know to not get slaughtered in Masters as well as make the climb into masters easier next split on Olympus?

In past seasons I'd hit D3/D4 soloQ and stop there (SoloQ is kinda shit alone). Have since convinced some friends to go into ranked and two of us hit masters today.

Things that we did in ranked rather than pub hold W games was:

Hitting beacons and rotating in early/looking for spots to hold out Not taking 50/50s off drop unless forced (-48rp hurts) Fighting and third partying before mid game when reasonably isolated (Mid game is third party city) Avoiding overcommittng / apeing less (though definitely doing it when it makes sense) Generally just less blind apeing, blind pushing, disengaging when fights are going nowhere, not burning supplies for no reason, and trying to have an exit planned

Is there anything else that's important to be mindful of or that we should work on as a squad? Anything that helped you go from hard stuck Masters to whatever RP you've got?

This was all learned on Kings Canyon as we've only ever aped in pubs on Olympus, but I'm sure it's largely the same there as well. Probably find a few drop spots we like and try to do the same next split.

I’m a top 200 pred. I’ll say a few things that weren’t already said just to add a few pointers.

Land in the same 1 or 2 spots every game. Know where each teammate’s looting spots and rotations are. Have an escape plan just in case there are too many teams there. Landing alone is ideal. Learn how to IGNORE fights mid game. I can’t tell you how many times my team has ran 30 meters to the side of a juicy 3rd party, ignored it completely, rotated past it, and we’ve gone on to get a max kp win. Fight less. When you do fight, fight smart, quick, and together. If you knock someone and feel/know a 3rd party is coming, LEAVE. Just let it go. Getting greedy with that one kill can cost your team the game and waste 5-20 minutes. Bonus: half the time the 3rd party comes in and kills the team you were fighting, and you get your downed player kp anyway. Know when to be stealthy. I’ve had soooo many teammates give away our position when our position was absolute shit and we died because of it. Bloodhounds: scanning can give away position. 5% of situations are times when you actually shouldn’t scan. If there are 10 squads left in ring 3, it’s better to stay hidden for a while until more teams die out unless you’re in a god spot. Carry long and short range weapons. Steal kills and level up shields from safe and high positions. Don’t underestimate anyone. Especially when there are 57 other players with guns on the map. Underestimating a team makes you take more damage. Even if you win the fight, you want to be in the best position to fight a potential 3rd party. Avoid taking health damage. They take longer to heal than shields, which not only makes you vulnerable for longer, but also has a domino effect. You are healing longer makes it so you are shooting or scouting less which overall makes your teammates more likely to go down or get ambushed.

With landing on the same spots - Most spots are reasonably contested unless you eyeball it and are willing to drop backwards.

Do you pick one of your two spots based on the ship, then take the 50/50 if/when it's contested? If I don't specifically drop alone, I find people will contest even in Masters.

Also, do you have any advice on when to get deep into the circle vs when to reasonably play outskirts? Some circles are absolute shit and there's like 9 squads with one building - Those times I'll play outskirts usually.

Current Diamond struggler. Can operate well in teams but would love to have a pred player or two on my side. I wouldnt be doing this for a carry as so much to feel the difference in gameplay of two players who have made it to the top ranks. Whats it feel like to have a very competent team with team play

I realize I'm going to take flack for this, but getting to Masters was not significantly difficult.

If you find a few people with mics that are willing to not blindly ape every fight, you can make it there assuming you're all at least abovr average mechanically.

My friends and I shot up when we started actually picking fights carefully and playing the ring.

What I listed above can probably carry you to Diamond if you're at least average mechanically

I went from masters to 15k rp and we actually had a drop spot, spotted lakes, over time we knew exactly how to contest and we were confident in all early fights, contesting is all about tactics indeed. It also helped us get easy 3p's on Runoff and Crashsite if we see that there are multiple teams over there
