To those who are angry that BSG has not made a statement yet, or are firing people for speaking out.

1 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:23 ID: t4d4pf

ARE YOU FUCKING STUPID? It is completely sane to not want to get arrested. We have already seen what the R-Gov does to people who speak out or demonstrate. Everyone gets fucking arrested. BSG cannot get out of R, nor can they speak out. If they do, they get arrested. It's that simple.

Think about it, for once in your life, fucking think. Stop with all the hate for these hard-working people. They have already suffered enough on your stupid comments "Fix the game" bla bla and just enjoy the game while you still can. Stop harassing the staff, or their personal and professional choices from your non-war safe space in the west. If shit actually hits the fan, you'll know what they are going through.

I live in the Netherlands, I'm in a safe country. Downvote me all you want, you know the shit that they are in. If they speak out, it's. over. I'll be in the comments if this post won't get deleted.

Tbh im just surprised/impressed they can still sell the game and havent been punched in the dick in payment processing

ID: hyxt5bm

Technically BSG is registered in the UK which I’m pretty sure was completely intentional for situations like this.

ID: hyxtqth

But they still can’t pull the money from UK to get it to Russia afaik. I’m not sure.

ID: hyxtm4u

Still curious how it’ll avoid the sanctions. If everything is registered in the UK but the team is in Russia. The sanctions are only beginning…

ID: hyxvn7r

This also places them under UK jurisdiction

ID: hyy6jrx

What if the uk got in a war

ID: hyxw4xg

I'm wondering if they'll be able to pay their server hosting bills

ID: hyy36t3

dont think they ever have tbh

ID: hyxt2wh

Honestly think it’s just a matter of time

3 : Anonymous2022/03/01 18:26 ID: hyxx8sm

I think a somewhat comparable situation could be Wargaming. They have explicitly fired a creative director for stating pro-russian support (

and WG is donating $1M to the Ukrainian red cross ( While I concede Wargaming is technically a Belarusian company and not russian, the studio developing one of their biggest games (World of Warships) is in Saint-Petersburg.

ID: hyy7b20

They are also heavily tied to Kyiv, much of their development goes on there. They are a lot further from the reach of the Kremlin than BSG.

ID: hyyt0xr

i would fire the guy as well. in private have what ever opinion you want for all i care but going on in public and picking sides as a top exec of a company is not a good idea especially in wargamings case

ID: hyyrqwr

That would require the Russian government to know anything about gaming and care to investigate what is going on outside their country to even link the 2 together.

Off topic can we get sunflowerseeds as loot? good snack alternative to croutons.

Have it drain your hydro and make you PMC make sounds like licking his lips and spitting the shells out the whole time

I would personally love to munch on some sweet and spicy trail mix while in raid.

ID: hyyjctm

this post is defending BSG for not making any statements, adding sunflowerseeds to their game is a statement.

5 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:57 ID: hyxsupw

Agreed. It's not like the game is glorifying their authoritarian regime. The lore of this game seems to cast doubt on human nature in general.

ID: hyxuyn3

If anyone follows the quest lore lines of all the traders, it starts to become clear that everyone you deal with just has their own agenda, and their own idea about who is good.
They all have their clientele and their own personal interests in mind, as well as occasionally doing good/bad things if you can read between the lines enough. Almost all of them ask you to kill other people at some point, except maybe mechanic?

ID: hyxvd3f

>Almost all of them ask you to kill other people at some point except maybe mechanic?

Shooter born in heaven

ID: hyye8qm

It's a fascinating topic for discussion, but I worry the cultural context and the gaps in the lore make it hard to discern the ideological position behind the creation of Tarkov's world.

As far as support for contemporary Russia's foreign policy goes, the closest avatar we have in the game for representing Russian state interests is Prapor, who is on the take, brokers deals with private interests, and is generally corrupt.

I'd love to think Nikita has pierced the veil of illusion and injected into Tarkov some kind of hidden critique of modern culture, what with the references to humanists like Tarkovsky and Shakespeare. But that critique might still be confined to a fairly narrow window of debate that's not about whether or not Russian imperialism is "good," but rather a debate about what the nature of that imperialism should be.

Take Joseph Conrad's novella Heart of Darkness as a counterpoint. Many interpret the novel and its adaptation Apocalypse Now as a broad condemnation of Western colonialism, but Conrad published HoD as a serial in conservative magazine called Blackwood's. The author wasn't anti-imperialist; he was upset that men like Kurtz appropriated the imperialist cause to enrich themselves personally. There could be a similar dynamic at play with regards to Nikita's intentions behind the lore of Tarkov.

ID: hyy0l5g

It kinda does though. In the story the Russian government is pretty much the black and white good guys fighting against the civilian-killing Western Terragroup.

ID: hyy3r2r

I always got more of an anti-imperialism/anti-exploitation framework of why there is a fight against terragroup. But hey the lore isn’t why I play Tarkov lol.

ID: hyxth1y

Hell if anything it shows the hell of the aftermath of war

ID: hyyzdlk

The general framing tho has Def more been pro Russian, anti West (as expected for a Russian dev) but still pretty ironic since they Def wanted to paint Russians, especially the military, in a more positive light, but now we are just seeing Russians in the very gear we gotten so accustomed to doing heinous shit

ID: hyy5zui

The lore of the game in which the Westerners (Terragroup, USEC, UN, Blackfox/Black Division) are all self-serving scumbags and the Russian PMCs are noble and patriotic? There is a grand total of 1 canon Westerner who isn't a complete dick that we've seen in the lore and media of Tarkov.

6 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:29 ID: hyxoccm

I agree. Why tf do they even have to make a statement in the first place? Where were the people asking for statements when call of duty was making games set in afghanistan during the war the US waged with them for decades? Like, they are a game company. Let them do their job and leave off the hate.

Edit spelling and shit

ID: hyxwmfb

I unnno how old you are but im 29, there were lots of those people around 2004 ish 2005

ID: hyy349w

You mean the Afghanistan war that the vast majority of the world initially approved of and was justified because Taliban was not only a vile religious dictatorship executing women and gays but more importantly because it harbored Al-Qaeda and refused to kick them out of the country when NATO demanded they do so.

The unjustified Iraq war might be a better example... if it weren't for the fact that nearly everyone and their dog did speak out against that war.

ID: hyypd8x

People seem to have forgotten that Osama Bin Laden was actually in Afghanistan for a significant time and they have also forgotten that Osama bin Laden was one of the western world's most dangerous enemies.

7 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:48 ID: hyxrayt

One of my favorite bands that is based in Moscow came out and openly rebuked the war on a social media without any fear of reprisal, much respect to them.

Slaughter to Prevail?

8 : Anonymous2022/03/01 18:24 ID: hyxwypu

It's OK for them to not make a statement as a company, but it's OK for them to fire people for speaking out?

What kind of cooked take is this?

ID: hyybbxy

This. Nobody is forcing them to make a statement but if the firing employees story is right then fuck BSG and anyone who helps in the oppression of the Russian people when they want to speak out.

ID: hyymsdi

If it's even true and not a hoax, It's damage control. It's keeping the RU feds out and away from the company and staff, and not being associated with someone who could get you arrested by proxy. I'm not saying it's right by any means, but it's definitely not right also that those same citizens working for BSG have to live with the fear of arrest if they speak up.

Shit sandwich no matter what end you take a bite from.

9 : Anonymous2022/03/01 20:54 ID: hyykipe

BDG literally has licensing deals with state owned arms manufacturers. They aren't saying shit.

10 : Anonymous2022/03/01 20:21 ID: hyyf7lt

You’re right that they’re under no obligation to make a statement, nobody needs one from them.

That said, you can fuck right off with the notion that it’s just as acceptable for them to fire people for speaking out.

11 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:30 ID: hyxomcg

There are no confirmations on them firing people for speaking out, just one person with a tweet and zero sources. This is how disinformation is spread....

I think it's unreasonable for people far far removed from the active conflict to demand a video game company in Russia to make a statement. There are risks they have that we do not. I would hope if any of the employees are against the war, they are using their best judgment to speak out when and where they can.

It's very easy to sit in our comfortable heated homes and say "well id be doing X!" you really don't know that, especially not being in their shoes... Realize their lives, livelihood, and families are at risk, and I doubt the company as a whole would want to implicate everyone there with a statement that can put them at risk.

Be Kind...

12 : Anonymous2022/03/01 18:58 ID: hyy2al7

Bullshit. Here is the official instagram page to Russia's most popular music group, way more popular and important than some video game devs. Everyone knows them. They even represented Russia in Eurovision:

Not only did they call it a "war," which Putin criminalized; they are openly against it.

It's fair to assume at this point that the devs at BSG completely support Russia. And trust me, devs/programmers tend to be some of the scummiest, autistic, politically extremist people on the planet and I say this for many U.S. devs as well. They also have ties with Russian militant groups, their "Tarkov series" was filmed using actual retired Russian PMCs as actors as far as I know, and a lot of game development was made using the advice of the same people as to how the guns should work and look and etc.

Their game is literally playing out IRL now, how the fuck can they make 0 mention of what's going on?

13 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:33 ID: hyxozgt

I agree 100% anyone that hates on them for this is a dickwad. Russian people aren’t the enemy and their own government is ruthless against them.

14 : Anonymous2022/03/01 19:06 ID: hyy3j4s

Stop sympathizing for companies that fuck over any human rights they don’t have to speak out but they shouldn’t fire if true either

15 : Anonymous2022/03/01 17:47 ID: hyxr5ds

99% of the people commenting live in a 1st world country located in the free world. They are allowed to say whatever they want and are privileged to pretend that they're enlightened when they and their entire families lives aren't on the line to either be imprisoned or disappeared. I hope BSG isn't listening to them.

ID: hyy6bko

Tarkov is too dangerous for women, but protesting with the babushkas is too dangerous for BSG.

16 : Anonymous2022/03/01 21:14 ID: hyyniqj

If BSG are firing people for speaking out then fuck them. I can understand them not making a statement tho

17 : Anonymous2022/03/01 18:35 ID: hyxyr89

Just enjoy the game for the small amount of time you have left. Russia and all their companies are getting cutoff within a few weeks it seems. I guess some people will play on the darkweb, but looks like Europe wants to cut all internet ties with Russia as part of sanctions.

18 : Anonymous2022/03/01 19:59 ID: hyybuu2

Pointless post that needs deleting. Serves no real purpose than to cause frustration or anger.

19 : Anonymous2022/03/01 18:47 ID: hyy0kpu

this game is going to be shut down within the next few months.

doesn't really matter what they say or do, they are just devs not government officials. and while the company might be based in the uk, the devs will have trouble getting that money out of the uk and into their hands to continue development and pay wages.

people genuinely don't like working for free, especially when their home economy is in shambles and food is growing scarce.

enjoy the game while you can dudes.

20 : Anonymous2022/03/01 18:39 ID: hyxzexp

The BSG defense force ain’t going to last long on this hill. Y’all are looking like a bunch of bootlickers right now.
