We can see it because we're fixating on it, but you could easily not even realize what it did while playing.

I wish they would fix nades bouncing off glass though, it's been a bug since both breakable glass and grenades have coexisted in the game.

The portico is only solid for living things, dead bodies fall through bags fall through, its not just netcode that can be an issue it can also be the properties of the thing your standing on that can be an issue, also the grenade bounced off the window frame
