That’s the best one to start with in my opinion! Fantastic game and it’s the easiest to jump into and learn with.
ID: hwog4spThe graphics also hold up really well imo, especially in this remastered version. More so than the PS1 era I think. Makes it easier for some modern gamers to appreciate. Great art direction helps too.

FFX is in my top three favorite Final Fantasy games (after IV and VI) and it is an excellent entry to the series.

OP - fwiw - Final Fantasy is my favorite game series and most people love FFX. It just wasn’t for me. I also think the sphere grid is a bit much.
I’m 37, I grew up playing the old ones (NES / SNES). If you’re younger might be fine for you.
I’m not saying ffx is a bad game it just wasn’t for me. If I can give any advice on that game, don’t worry about completing every side quest or activity, follow the obvious path of the sphere grids.
Most of all have fun! It is a great story.

FfX has some of the best combat in the whole series. I also think the story is really good. I like the atmosphere as well. It’s very different from any other game in the series, but the bright Southeast asian vibe works really well.

Make sure you don't play too much blitzball early or else the computer signs all the good free agents.

This game has the best story hands down of all video games with an amazing cast of characters. My favorite final fantasy and not for no reason. Enjoy it!

My (admittedly unsolicited) advice: play it as blind as you can, but don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. X is great, X-2 can be a little divisive, but just have fun and play it how you feel like! Hope you have a great time

X-2 is particularly silly compared to X. But the gameplay is fire. Possibly the best Square did with the original turn based system before they started making it more action-RPG esc. Dont push it off because its theme is way different. It's just campy af.

Great choice to start with!
My personal favorite but also seen many people cite it as a good starting point. You'll get enough of a feel of what the series is about without feeling like you're missing something from previous entries. If it goes well you'll likely feel compelled to go back and catch up on the series, or forward and see where the series has gone since (both good in different ways IMO). Hope you enjoy this masterpiece!

Don’t look up the face of the voice actors. Knowing how they guy who voices Tidus looked like was terrible for my first play through.

X is great! Start there! X-2 I didnt love but the musical score is by far one of my favorites. No title is a complete loss-they all have wins and losses. That’s the beauty of mixing it up and trying new things constantly.

Have fun, but if you don't like doing the extra content or you're not a fan of completion, just finish the game at your own pace and enjoy.
I loved FFX until I decided to get the platinum trophy for it.
It took me like 4 years to complete it because I couldn't muster courage to do it. It made me retroactively hate FFX. Shame.

10 is definitely the best finale fantasy game. It's also in my top 10 favorite games of all time.

You have a rare chance, very early, to find "stonetouch" or "stonestrike" petrifying weapons.
Instant one-hit KO for any enemy if the petrify is successful, and if the enemy isn't set immune, as some bosses are.
Obviously this breaks the game's difficulty curve immediately, and you may feel like smashing through everything you ever fight 😀 But you may want to save stone weapons for quick XP grinding.
