So I know Final Fantasy 15 is regarded as one of the bad final fantasy games (personally I enjoyed it but not the main point), but I just can’t get over the style I’ve been obsessed with it for years. Like the game has such a unique sharp modern medieval royalish style that’s captured so well. I’m mainly like obsessed with the city parts like Insomnia and Altissia. I’ve played this game over and over a total of 6 times and still can not get over it. I will seriously just be looking at the buildings in the game for hours and the whole atmosphere. Like even down to the characters it’s so awesome man. I seriously feel like it deserves more appreciation. It’s had such a big impact on me too that I’ve been trying to capture that style in everything I do. Big ups to whoever the designers of the game were. Anybody else feel the same way?
-
Here's how I look at it. Every final fantasy main game is a great game. But not every one of them is a great final fantasy. I rate 15 high becuase I actually felt something during the game. I laughed, and I cried. Not every final fantasy can do that.
ID: hy06sjpID: hxzhpvfthe only ones that fall flat for me are FF VIII and XIII
however I do believe FF XV is garbage
-
Yeah I loved it. There was so much variety in the environments. I got so caught up with hunts and exploring that the story actually felt in the way. I would love if the modern open world mechanics could be applied though. I hate things like road barriers in the way when Zelda taught me you can just climb anything.
-
I’ve gotta say that 15 became my favorite in the series! It reminds me so much of the times my friends and I would go on road trips, camping, cooking food, and just messing around. Then I took an arrow to the knee. The environment is definitely awesome in the game, with a lot of unique characters, call monsters, and one of my favorite fighting styles in an RPG

Every single FF is considered the best, and the worst on someone's list
Don't worry about it.
The only immutable truth in the universe is that whenever a new one comes out there will be someone crying about it because it's not like the other ones by some arbitrary measure
-
I love XV.
Wait 10 years and you'll see people change their minds. -
I especially loved the monster designs

There is so much I genuinely love about FF15. And that's why I hate it so much for being so misassembled. Almost all the problems are on the technical/pacing side and not on the art/world building side. The ideas deserved better.
ID: hxyqm4rYes same like it has the potential to be a masterpiece but just doesn’t deliver
-
I can't imagine how much hate this game takes from the community , this game will get so much recognition as one of the best FF games but that's like any FF game once it becomes an old game. I agree that this game at launch was a mess ,that's why it recieves so much hate and people never gave it a second chance but with updates and dlc's it became a masterpiece, i hope more people will give it this second chance. And special thanks to the great yoko shimimura for the great OST .
ID: hy0gyfaI mean, to be fair if someone pays full price for a game, they should get a fully-fleshed out game. I still liked it for what it was worth at launch, but was peeved about the DLC and never touched them.
That being said, will I still play it in its' entirety at some point? Absolutely.
-
Truth be told, I’ve only made it as far as chapter 8 in the game, but I think it’s amazing so far. I dumped sixty hours into just getting lost and doing sidequests. It’s great.
ID: hxzhtznyou're literally at the turning point of the game lol. The game nosedives riight after that
-
It’s really disappointing, because the concepts are clearly there and for a portion of the game you are led to believe there will be a lot more going on but then it just burns out. The DLC sorta patches it over, but there’s still not much to do explore/learn of in the over world. Perhaps they’ll revisit the games in an anniversary and expand.
Despite it’s glaring flaws the story did have me crying at the end haha.

While I heavily dislike XV, this is a tale as old as time. Every time a mainline final fantasy is released, it becomes "the worst of the series" fora very vocal part of the fanbase. Go and find gamefaqs threads discussing FFX circa 2004 (or better not), and you'll see people saying how FFX is widely considering the worst of the series. Nowadays, it is very fondly remembered and it will often show up as the favorite in this subreddit (or at least as a recommendation for starting the series).
-
I do love the style of that game and felt that it nailed modernizing the old Final Fantasy tropes.
-
It's really cool indeed.
FF XV is by no means a bad game, it sucks only that they had to release DLCs...
However the level design (environments, cities etc.) Of FF XII is yet to be matched. And I'm a major FF VII (the og) fan.
ID: hxzhlzplevel design is one of the game's worst aspects, unless you are talking about the environment design which is strictly how a game looks - in which case, it's good.
-
No need to apologize for loving this game. I thought it was great. I agree, the general aesthetic of the game is really cool. That tied with the good music and awesome villain, it’s a great game! Also, to me, it wasn’t overly bloated and there were no typical jrpg difficulty spikes which is a huge plus.
ID: hxyq36yYes that’s another thing too the music!! My gosh I love it
-
I hope I can force myself to continue playing it at least for a bit longer, as I'm desperate for a good world to disappear into, maybe it does get better... I barely managed to pull through the tutorials (who the fuck makes tutorials (and lore???) separate from the game these days?), then noped out when we met the basically naked mechanic chick. Like wtf is up with that kind of design. And wtf is up with the brodudes who all look the same. Please tell me it gets better :(.

My only complaints with XV
Farming the arcade game for rare Magic’s can lick my ass. I did it around 10 times to get everything I needed.
I’m still missing some fish……I have at least 150 hours of fishing fml
The weather condition hunts can also ligma lol but I understand them frogs during rain yeah yeah I get it.
The secret dungeon with no combat and dying 400 times because platformers are my weakest game genre.
Before the patch, I farmed AP by using the whistle, shield AOE weapon attack, one hit kill all 3, rinse and repeat for 5 hours to unlock some stuff. Not fun nor fun at all but was efficient.
-
It needs a spinoff set in Insomnia before the fall.
I want to actually cruise around the city!!
-
Wait until you hear about Tokyo and Venice
Fr though I like the gothic touch it has in the major cities
-
Aesthetically speaking, it could be the best work of SE yet. Story didn't suck either.
I gotta be honest, maybe I'm getting too old, but FF characters feel generic to me since FFX (exclusive), with FFXII as the low point (great game though).
But for me what really bothered me in XV was the combat. I was never really sure what I'm supposed to do and it was always either way too easy or my whole party would just die. I really tried to understand the system but I failed. And neither the progression nor the battles themselves felt satisfying.
If XV had the combat system of XII, I think it would be one of my favorites.
Anyway, sorry that I'm a bit bitter about the game, I just feel that it was such a wasted opportunity. Such a great game overall being crippled completely by a single (but important) aspect.
But I'm glad you enjoyed it! After all, it's all a matter of taste. I probably enjoy games that other people can't stand.
-
It's one of my favorites, by far. Amazing story, solid characterization, fun battle system, etc. And yeah, it's absolutely gorgeous.
-
Before it came out FF Versus XIII / FFXV was the most captivated I had ever been with a world of fiction.
Everything from the character design, the art direction, the music, the mythology, the tone seemed like it had been made to suit my specific tastes.
I waited 10 years for this game, always being positive about the delays, telling myself it would only make the game better on release.
Then the game out and… well everyone knows how it turned out.
Biggest let down I’ve ever experienced for a video game, but I’m still fascinated by what it was supposed to be.
ID: hy143ubSo much lore and stuff there in the designs, that simply never come to fruition, annoys me more that we live in the dlc age, they could of fixed it, they just never.
-
FF15 was overall a fine game. I loved tooling around the countryside on this "bachelor party gone wrong" adventure. I love the comraderie the characters have, camping, every time Ignis said "THAT'S IT!", the music, the scenery, and a million other things that made the game wonderful.
Everything in the game after that part is an enormous downer.
-
I did not really like the game that much, but the architecture was great! The bar in Altissia will be stuck in my mind forever.
-
Part of what ruined this game to others is its 10 years of wait or hype. Although for me the game is so good even if the gameplay is not the best. It delivered an experience of a road trip and it would probably be memorable to those who liked this game.
-
I wouldn't say XV is bad or considered to be the worst by the community.
XIII gets more negativity than XV does.
That said XV is definitely the most mixed in the series. It's right up there with VIII as in that the game is very split in the middle when it comes to its reception.
There's people who love it. And people who don't.
-
I played this game on pc only, so my experience was very different than the early ps4 players. The game was fixed, they already added contents, and i liked it. Beautiful graphics, great level designs, classic ff story, with a classic FF characters development.
The only downside for me was the fighting gameplay, with very randoms controls and ugly camera fails.
But i keep a nice memory of this game, and you're true the cities design, the train, the vehicules, etc, had many nice little details, and a very unique look.
-
I want to play FFXV so badly, but it is said it is too easy... even with its hard mode mod...
-
For me, the storyline was the most impactful out of all of the Final Fantasy games. I played it while going through a tough time and the themes of friendship really resonated with me. The ending quite literally had me bawling like I lost my real friends.
This one also has my absolute FAVORITE Final Fantasy soundtrack. I specifically like the classical music that plays in Galdin Quay and Altissia. I'm a HUGE fan of FFX, so any of these aquatic themed cities or towns are always my favorite.

I was very, very curious about Tenebrae since the trailers and the first scenes on Kingsglaive. Ivory towers on floating forests, you know?
Was really sad we coudn't go to the city at all, just see it burning from the distance 🙁
Since then I've watched some out of boundaries videos about the 3D models in game, but man, do I wish we could go there...
-
I've only gotten to play the beginning of 15, but I really loved everything about the movie, Kingsglaive.
From the slums to the royal palaces, it had so much style.
-
Check out the vs 13 trailers and the title change trailer, they show off the best off 15's amazing sense of style even more beautifully!
ID: hy0y41iI knowww I’ve seen them I love them a lot wish we would’ve got maybe the original too
-
The aesthetic of XV is a small thing that drove home some big themes in the storytelling. The literal kingdom of light (Lucis is Latin for light) is covered in a black motif. Which foreshadowed the decade of darkness after Noct leaves. On the other hand, Tenebrae (which is Latin for darkness) is colored in white. Noctis and co are always in black; Luna is in white. It’s just a beautiful way to depict the saviors of a beautiful world.
XV is my favorite. Favorite game, favorite story, favorite FF. Just my favorite of all time. It’s good to see so much love for it in this comment section
-
I loved FFXV. Put 20hrs into the demo, put 200 in the final game for the Platinum. Idc what people say, I really like it. I see all its criticisms but I’ve enjoyed it so much regardless.
I cried at the end and I listened to the soundtrack for weeks on my way to school back then. Only digital album I ever bought. It’s missing so much and it’s much better now on PS5 but I fell in love with it at launch.
-
I likw the game and I love the art direction and setting. Bthe world is extremely compelling and I want more of it. That's the problem, though... It falls short because it's mostly empty and feels unfinished.
-
I think the atmosphere is amazing, but im bitterly reminded we didnt get to see the half of it.
None of the empire, none of the main capital, and barely anywhere that had civilians.
Was a bizarre game, some elements felt so finished and completed in terms of quality, but in terms of amount, the world almost felt like an alpha or beta build in terms of amount.
-
Don't feel bad over liking a """bad""" game like FF15. I like FF13, and I do not want to even go into how much hate online I get over that one. If you like it, screw the haters. 🙂
-
It is a good game. But it's story really needed some work. Also. Parking should be either automatic or easier at some point.
-
too bad the party makes the game unplayable
-
You should get that checked out, Obsession is a debilitating mental disorder.
-
what's medieval about it?
-
There’s a lot that’s good in the game, I personally can’t get past the lack of a permanent female pc in it.
-
Anyone who thinks 15 is bad has never played or they're just being an elitist contrarian. Most people I've talked to that blow it off never played it, they just wrote it off because of how the main cast were dressed.

I actually think 15 is a much better Final Fantasy than an actual game.
