Is it worth playing FFIX right now on PS4 or should I wait until a remaster comes out? I wasnt sure if one was in the works or planned. I miss the game, its excellently done IMO but debated on waiting for remaste

or replaying the old version

The PS4 version is a remaster. There's little reason to expect another FFIX release any time soon.

I want to start Final Fantasy VI for the first time, and I don’t know which version to play. I want to be able to play it on the go, so I’m limited to the GBA version (which I already own), the PS1 version on a Vita, and the iOS pixel remaster. Which of these three versions is best?

ID: hz3isv0

GBA version has the extra content and the benefit of already being owned. PR is the one I'd recommend to Past Me, because I didn't really care about the FF6 extras and I like to have the cruise control battle option.

I never played the PS1 version of FF6 because I really just bought that for FF5. (Which I didn't bother to play through until I bought it 2 more times on Steam)

First time playing 6 this week. Does it matter if I don't keep everyone around the same level later in the game? I swapped my party and some are really under levelled now

ID: hytxcj6

Every time a party member leaves and rejoins for story reasons, their level is recalculated based on the average level of the party members you have.

If you don't want to go through levelling everyone, an option is to wait until getting the second airship and levelling just the party you have at that point before going to retrieve everyone else. After that point, once you get someone back, they won't leave again - at least, not in a way that recalculates their level.

You'll want a good spread for the final dungeon, which requires splitting into three groups. Having at least one powerhouse and one support for each group is a solid start.

You'll be fine with a wide disparity; the game does a catch up if someone leaves for a bit. In addition, levels while they matter, aren't as harsh a stat check as in other games. If you just fight the battles that happen while exploring without any additional grinding, there's only a few bosses that might stop you in your tracks.

is it true that FF tactics on iOS is not an Apple ID wide purchase?

6 : Anonymous2022/03/01 11:55 ID: hywh2x6

Any ideas on how long Stranger of Paradise is liable to be when it comes out? I havent really kept up on it much.

I'm planning to play all the ff games in order, thought about doing it in numerical first. But then I got reminded of tactics.

I don't have much experience in the franchise, I'm done with ff1 now and think I'm about halfway through 2.

Should I play all the "main" ones before tactics? Or should I maybe put it between 6 and 7? Or maybe after 10? I have no idea ^^"

If you want to go through them in order, I'd reccomend doing tacticts after every FF because tactics is a spin off that plays completely differently.

By release order it's between VII and VIII.

But I dunno. Just play it before XIV if you make it that far.

Tactics initially came out between 7 and 8, so if you're going through things chronologically, it makes sense to do it then. However, if you're including side games, there are probably more than you realize, depending on whether you count things that had the Final Fantasy name slapped on them or not.

Example: The SaGa series was initially released on the Game Boy in the U.S. as Final Fantasy Legend 1, 2 and 3. Seiken Densetsu came out as Final Fantasy Adventure for the Game Boy, before the second game for the SNES was called Secret of Mana.

Overlooking things like that, there is also FF Mystic Quest (SNES), FF Four Warriors of Light (DS), FF Tactics Advance 1 and 2, Dissidia... There are almost as many spin-off games as main installments.

There is no link story wise between FF games, so you can play it whenever you want 🙂

It's a spin off on top of that, it doesn't play the same way than the first 10 main FF games anyway (after 10, the gameplay vary greatly between the main games) 😉

Which version of FFIV do you think is best? PSP, 3D Remake or Pixel Remaster?

The interesting thing about FF4 is that there's 3 very distinct versions of the game available if you have the PSP version of it.

What's also interesting is the PSP version is still the only version that's readily available that includes exclusive extra context, "The After Years" and "Interlude".

My favorite is the original Japanese version with English translation patch (i.e. with the original difficulty). The first half of that game is the single greatest stretch of perfectly balanced gameplay in the entire series, IMO. I was constantly winning battles just by the skin of my teeth. The aesthetic of the visuals/sound hearkens back to a very specific time in video games, too, which is important for immersion in the lineage of Final Fantasy

ID: hz2pg2w

The After Years got a 3D remake as well to go with the IV 3D remake.

In any case my favorite is still the PSP version. The 3D remake is good as well, though it looks really bad on a big screen. It has enough changes to be considered a distinct game, including being a fair bit harder than the original and having a weird new game+ system. I'd say the extras in the PSP version are much better.

Haven't actually played the PR version yet so I can't rightly judge, but it has no extra content and mostly looks worse than the PSP version does to me, but YMMV.

Can you remove the UI elements in the pixel remasters (like the fast-forward sign in the upper-left)? There's so much noise distracting from gorgeous widescreen presentation

ID: hz2szck

There are mods for it. There's a big list of mods here

The list hasn't been updated for FF6 yet, but there are mods available (including the auto-battle icon) on the modding discord

Should I play the Requiem of the Goddess DLC before Lightning Returns? It is considered the true ending of FF13-2 and only costs £1.34 on the xbox store. Just wondering if it's worth playing.

ID: hz8ps5i

Yeah, I think it's worth playing personally. Its a neat and kinda unique addition to the game. That being said, if you only care about the additional ending scene, you could just look it up on youtube, because I wouldn't say it's that big of a deal, just a tiny little teaser.

11 : Anonymous2022/03/03 23:47 ID: hz90nr8

Can I go into FF Origin new or do I need to play FF1 first? I haven't beaten half of the FF games.

12 : Anonymous2022/03/03 20:38 ID: hz89tns

What version of FF1 should I do a blind playthrough in? I already bought the ps1 version, final fantasy origins because I wanted to have as much of the games playable on ps1/ps2,but I've heard the PSP version is considered the definitive version. Is it worth getting the psp version if I already got the ps1 version and how much money would you spend for it?
