I’m playing through X-2 and decided to do an entire run without using YRP. I got the Machina Panzer in Ch. 1. It’s ridiculously strong. Should I just coast by on that or is there a better option for powerful creatures to use through the game?

ID: gva5t9s

I don’t know the answer to your question, I just wanted to pop in to say that I’m replaying X-2 myself and I love that that’s a thing that’s possible in this game

FFXIII: Am I about to hit a point of no return? I just finished the fight against Barthandalus at Oerba. If I take the ship back to Cocoon, can I return to Pulse to finish the Cie'th stone missions, or do I need to do all of them before progressing the story?

ID: gvc7wle

At the end of the final dungeon there is a portal that can take you back to Pulse.

I might be completely off on this but is the dungeon theme from the FF4 remake (android/ds version) in Final Fantasy 10 as well? For some reason it makes me think of FF10 whenever I hear it and I know they occasionally reuse/remake certain themes for different games (like the mount Gulug theme or battle at the big bridge).

Here's the theme:

ID: gv7vezb

Now that you mention it, it kinda reminds me of Calm Before The Storm. I think they have a sorta similar vibe

5 : Anonymous2021/04/20 01:29 ID: gv5ih3b

What genre of music is Mods De Chocobo? It kind of reminds me of rock music from the 60’s, but I can’t really place it.

ID: gv6sfje

I think it is intended to allude to the mod subculture. The chocobo theme names usually allude to their genre.

Is final fantasy xiii worth playing? Ive heard people say its a weak entry in the series.

ID: gv9iizb

It's worth a try at least. It's divisive rather than weak, some people like it, some don't. It's at least aged alright, since it still looks excellent. I personally liked it a lot even though I do acknowledge its flaws.

ID: gvcykg8

Gotta try it to find out. Personally XIII and XIII-2 are both in my top 5 FF games. And two of the most hated characters in XIII are two of my favorites. So you never really know lol.

the main problem is its linearity, they game restricts you for a large part of the game, in both level design and customization. that's what kills the game for many people, and having an auto battle button really hurts the game difficulty in early chapter (you can choose no to use it and I think you can turn it off in settings), especially since there are not many abilities early game.

the gameplay for me is one of the best and most unique experinces there is, not other game has that kind of combat system, but it will take a while for it to get better than and more diverse than smashing auto-combat till you win, once the game finally give you freedom is where the game truly shines.

I personally like it, but I understand it's not for everyone. It's got arguably the greatest story (hidden behind convoluted storytelling), a fun battle system, and fantastic music.

Generally, if you like 8's storytelling, then 13 is told in a similar fashion. A lot of story elements are in Datalogs and novels. So you'll have to read all of it, use a walkthrough, use a story guide, play the game multiple times, and/or discuss with others to get a better understanding of the story.

Yes, it's also very linear just like 10. The difference being it has very few distractions and minigames.

Only way to tell if you'll like it is to watch some reviews or play the demo. < 2 hours and < 14 days refund policy for Steam.

FFX2: Does Ribbon not protect against Death? My creatures keep getting instakilled despite having ribbon and I don’t think that’s supposed to happen

ID: gvb3v5p

I have no exact answer, but often in FF death isn't a status ailment that could be protected against.

I'm playing FF IV right now, and I've recently reached the Moon. There's quite a big difficulty spike so my characters are getting destroyed (still a party of 4). They're all around level ~30. Any tips?

ID: gv50y8w

I think you should be late 30s/early 40s for that.

ID: gv6y2wl

Are you playing the 3D or 2D version? For either one though - Does Cecil have the Excalibur? At this point in the game, him attacking with Excalibur and Rydia using the Mist Dragon summon might be the only things that do decent damage on the Moon. Virus is also a good spell to use, because of its quick casting time.

It can help if you just have Edge and Rosa focus on defending and healing. Lots of enemies in FF4 "silently" counterattack (i.e. they attack without a menu dialog), so it often isn't worth them attacking the enemy for minimal damage. Make sure Edge is in the back row. Also, the Big Whale has beds on it that you can use to heal.

If you can make it to the Crystal Palace, you'll get a fifth party member, and you don't need to complete a boss battle or anything like that.

you underlevel try doing some side quest, if you have done none.

I just beat OG FFVII and absolutely loved it. I do want to play the remake but I want to play the classics first. I do plan on playing XV last because of the new ARPG style but other than that, what are the consensus best games in the series? I fear my expectations might be a bit high after VII.

ID: gvcyblw

VII and X are generally what I would consider S Tier in popularity.

ID: gv9z0di

6, 7, 9 and 10, are usally considered the best ones story wise, 6 being expecially regarded as the game that set the standar of what story telling in FF should be and considered a classic of JRPGs.

gameplay wise 5 for its job system which allow a lot of experimentation and customization, 10 for the way it handles turn base and party management mid combat, and 12 for its many hunts, areas to explore and overall being a nice mix of ATB system and real time combat.

for FF15 I do recommend 2 things: one, try watching the movie Final Fantasy XV Kingsglave first if possible (try your luck in netflix), it will help you understand somethings early in the game, and buy the Royal Edition (or Windows Edition for pc) don't go for the normal version, the DLC and updates help that game a lot (if you have ps5 it's free on PS+ Collection).

Is Auto-Potion glitched in FFIX?

I got this clip in FFIX just now and have no clue what’s happening.

It’s a consistent occurrence when I turn on Auto-Potion for Garnet. And no, 9,999 is not on, check the damage numbers and the start of the video’s pause menu.

Edit: Threw Auto-Potion on Steiner as well and he only heals for 150, ?????????

Edit 2: Apparently caused by Chemist, I turned the ability off for a battle and her healing went back down to 150. Apparently the chemist mod gets the math severely wrong. Weird.

ID: gvc05dy

It's possible. I did a bit of digging and found an old reddit post about the Xbox one version and auto potion combined with chemist causing some weird behavior, like always healing 9999 or doubling the amount healed every time until it was healing into the millions and causing negative HP.

" class="reddit-press-subreddit-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">
/comments/b239r3/xbox_one_chemistautopotion/" class="reddit-press-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.reddit.com/" class="reddit-press-subreddit-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">
/comments/b239r3/xbox_one_chemistautopotion/

And here is another topic about the same thing:

" class="reddit-press-subreddit-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">
/comments/b2miq4/garnet_potion_glitch/" class="reddit-press-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">https://www.reddit.com/" class="reddit-press-subreddit-link" target="_blank" rel="noopener">
/comments/b2miq4/garnet_potion_glitch/

So it doesn't seem like it's a common glitch but it does appear that it happens.

Is the version of 5 on the PS3 worth playing or should I try to find a translation of the SNES version?

ID: gvdaxol

Per the Internet, the version of 5 on the PS3 is the PS1 version, which features a not-so-great translation and some load time issues. I believe the GBA version is viewed as the best, most legal one, but if you're going to play the SNES one, use the hack with the GBA script instead of the original RPGe version.
