I started the series with VIII and fell in love with all the games

ID: gydel3x

I started on FF8 too.

Me too!

And if the later games like 13 or 15 are your favorites, don't let some idiots online make you think you're wrong.

ID: gydgsed

You nail it.

ID: gydq99s

Unless your favorite is 2, bc thats just weird. /s

ID: gydquvk

I really like 12 I know the battles are easier but I just like micromanaging and treasure hunting

Hey I mean everybody has got to stay somewhere. I played FFX in 2001 at ten years old then I moved on to play every game in the series. I think new fans bring a lot of great things to the fan base. I also recently got the first time played Persona 5. I love it and now I want to play the older games! No shame in trying something new. Veterans can kiss my butt with the gatekeeping.

5 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:09 ID: gyd9cbr

Out of curiosity, where are these people apologizing for discovering something late?

ID: gydi10q

Or significantly after they were born? Some of us weren't exactly around when the first FF, DQ, and SMT game came out.

6 : Anonymous2021/05/16 20:42 ID: gyd5qfs

I started with FF V, FFXV is one of the best and FF13LR is also great, so no reason to be ashamed.

ID: gyd5ya0

Exactly!

7 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:04 ID: gyd8kud

who cares. people really need to stop gate keeping. franchise is so old that im sure that most "fans" were born after the first one. on top of that, the countless spin offs.

ID: gydga4a

Literally have never seen this with Final Fantasy. Which game is the best is a different story, but not when someone started.

8 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:02 ID: gydg6ws

I started with XIII and it's still my favorite trilogy ever to this date. I named my dog after Sazh!

9 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:20 ID: gydarv5

Relevant. Lol I’ve had a copy of Kingdom Hearts for 8 years. Stopped at the Jungle back in the day, and just pretty much forgot about it. Just picked it up again randomly a month or so ago, and I ordered a copy of KH2 before I even finished it. Currently on KH3 right now, and going to go back and play the side games after I’m done that. Making up for lost time. Hahaha

ID: gydeleq

just a head's up: they aren't side games. if you jump straight to 3 from 2 you will be very confused

10 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:39 ID: gyddamv

Not gonna lie, the Remake is what made me get into the FF7 world.

11 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:39 ID: gydd9ev

The first FF i play it was The VI but i start when XV come out

12 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:59 ID: gydfreo

I got onboard with FFX, and it's crazy to think the game came out 20 years ago

13 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:03 ID: gydg9ia

I started from FFVIII, played it last August with the Mini PS sold on Amazon and I must say, best 40 Euros spent in my life and a friend helped me mod it to have more than the original 20 games in it.

14 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:24 ID: gydj01n

I started with VII, I remembered it was 3 pirated discs and I played it on a Windows 98 PC.

15 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:37 ID: gydkl4o

Personally I love the fact the fan base for these games is continuing to grow, I spent many years when I was younger having a select few friends I could discuss how passionate I was about Final Fantasy. One of the reasons I’m so glad FF7 remake happened as it seems to have kickstarted a whole new wave of FF fans, they get to play some of the older titles for the first time and hopefully experience something unique and amazing that they fall in love with. The world is better place with more Final Fantasy fans in it!

16 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:50 ID: gydelmh

Uh, I’ve never seen anyone apologize for playing a video game

17 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:33 ID: gydceq0

I started with ff2(IV) which just means I’m getting old...

ID: gydd6cb

FF came out in 1987. I was born in 1985. Oof lol

18 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:41 ID: gyddhqi

FFXII was my first Final Fantasy and my favourite, closely followed by OG VII (I like remake too). I liked XV also. But FFXII and VII are my favs despite VII being an old game by the time I came into the series!

19 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:55 ID: gydf8wt

What you're supposed to do is reccomend your favorite of the series

20 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:12 ID: gydhhsq

7 was the first one I played and I genuinely believed it was the first one and the title was just trying to be cool or something.

You can imagine my joy to learn there were 6 other games all with their own stories to tell!

21 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:26 ID: gydj70s

Started with the OG itself in the 80's (yeah I'm old sigh) and kept up as best i could through various iterations until now. Some I love, some i hate, and I will disagree in the goodness of the games themselves but not on anyones right to play or enjoy for themselves.

22 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:27 ID: gydje12

My first FF game was vi, but I played it pretty recently on the SNES mini. I hated RPG's as a kid, and getting that SNES mini, and playing the RPG's on that made me a fan. I've been playing catch up on them since.

23 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:43 ID: gydlb7z

Final Fantasy 9 was my first final fantasy and it made in love with the series. After finished ff9 i played Tactics and FF7, etc

24 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:44 ID: gydlfk6

I started with VI Gba and I got two of my friends to play XIII they both loved it and one of them became a FF fan.

25 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:46 ID: gydlmxc

I started with FF7 Remake and now it's one of my favorite video games of all time. It got me so invested with the FF7 Compilation.

26 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:56 ID: gydmw7m

I think final fantasy tactics is where my love came from I spent days on that game leaving it running to Wake up to it in the morning

27 : Anonymous2021/05/16 23:05 ID: gydnz7y

My first was a FF8 demo from Pizza Hut. Then I researched and played demos of FF7 and FF8 on PC. My first FF I bought was IX on PS1 and the rest is history.

ID: gydp2qr

Never knew there was FF8 demo from Pizza Hut! Huh, that’s interesting!

28 : Anonymous2021/05/16 23:38 ID: gydrs91

first FF game I ever played was dissida demo for the PSP and it was hella sickk. but my actual first FF game was 15 when I got it for Christmas when I was 13 (the year the game came out.)

I remember being so hype for the game by rewatching the Omen trailer so many time before the release and I had no idea wtf the game was about. got the day 1 edition and I really liked the signature sheet it came with. my favorite FF game and I even bought it again when I got my PS4. thanks to 15 for introducing me to the amazing series 🙂

even bought Dissida and 012 to play on my psp last year since that game was also important to me.

29 : Anonymous2021/05/16 23:49 ID: gydt19b

sips tea out of his Final Fantasy Mystic Quest cup

30 : Anonymous2021/05/16 23:53 ID: gydtgq1

I have always been a long term Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts player, but never played Dragon Quest until XI or Legend of Heroes until Trails of Cold Steel 3 and fell in love with both series and want to go back to the start.

Nothing wrong with being a late bloomer for things.

31 : Anonymous2021/05/16 23:57 ID: gydtzkt

This. I always appreciate each title being unique in their own way. There's no need to single anyone or any game out. And yep, everyone has their unique FF they first played that got them into the series. Whatever it is, it's special because of it.

32 : Anonymous2021/05/17 00:04 ID: gydurgp

There’s nothing better than starting a show/game falling in love and realizing that there is 5 seasons or multiple other games that you get to play

33 : Anonymous2021/05/16 20:47 ID: gyd6es7

Fuck yeah!

34 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:23 ID: gydb4a7

For real. People like what they like and that's okay

35 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:38 ID: gydd3ny

My all time favourite is generally the one I'm playing at that moment lol. Also, Final Fantasy is a different story each game. The only thing you're going to miss out on is references to older games, and they're auxiliary. It's not exactly going to ruin the game if you don't get them.

36 : Anonymous2021/05/16 22:21 ID: gydikim

Gatekeeping is really annoying in these situations.

Of course some people didn’t start with a game like Persona 3 when Persona 5 massively outsold it. Of course people didn’t all play the original FF games. They’re good, and 7 gets a lot of publicity now, but either way the new MMO’s have a much higher playerbase.

37 : Anonymous2021/05/16 20:26 ID: gyd3lpw

Star Wars fans have entered the chat

"WRONG!"
38 : Anonymous2021/05/16 20:18 ID: gyd2j9a

Everybody gotta start somewhere.

39 : Anonymous2021/05/16 21:27 ID: gydbpus

I def needed to hear this. haven't been able to really get into the franchise despite playing XIII, X, VII and VI but fell in love playing III recently!
