The line is accurately translated, it's actually wrong in Japanese. He was supposed to say that he wants to become a "blitzball player," but there was apparently a typo in the original release. It was corrected in the Japanese remaster, but the English version kept the original translation—I guess for the memes.

According to Legends of Localization, this is a completely accurate translation.

As far as I know, the mistake was in the Japanese version. When they were translating it they kept it the same because it's funny.

But I'm not sure where I learned that, so citation needed.

Love this. One of my other favorite moments from this game, dialogue wise, is when they first make land in Luca and those two announcers, Baba and Jimma I believe, are just shitting all over the Aurochs lol.

I've never seen a team this bad.
