- A grindy game where every second of the grind is actually fun? Like how the gameplay of Rocket League is fun, I want a grindy game that also has fun gameplay and the grind is just a bonus.

The Warrior's games Grimdawn Secrets of Grindea Renowned Explorers One Way Heroics Osteoblasts Loop Hero
Some different flavors of genres with fun grinding if you enjoy the core gameplay loop.

Such a good game

Monster Hunter, pick any of them. Best grind experience out there.
ID: gq3xng5I've only played World, but I think the reason why the grind is so great is because it's equal parts getting materials to improve your gear as well as you actually improving on a skill level at the same time.
ID: gq3ygwosecond this, plus with iceborne monster hunter world has ridiculous amounts of content
ID: gq3z4gmI tried this once, but it seemed so boring to have to attack some large boss for 20-30 minutes.
Attack - Do minuscule amount of damage - Boss runs to other side of room - Run after it just to do one more speck of damage - Repeat for 30 minutes. -
Am I doing something wrong?
ID: gq4gq9rWill definitely check this out, thanks.
-
Deep Rock Galactic. Grinding exists just to get cooler weapons and bonuses. But gameplay is super challenging and rewarding.
ID: gq5cdw9I second this
ID: gq5lhwgRock and stone brother! The community is also amazing to green beards.

Wildcard, but Elona (or better, Elona+) is pretty close to a real roguelike, totally free, more skills than skyrim, and you can set up a shop, ranch, farm, get into gene engineering, and so much more.
And it's totally free.

Personally I would go with Warframe. There's just such a breadth of possible playstyles that can be freely mix-and-matched. Want to parkour straight to the objective? Go for it. Thinking of just bulldozing everything with machine guns and rocket launchers? We got plenty of those. Maybe you got the need to style on enemies by bringing a sword to a gunfight? That's a weekly challenge.
What I'm saying is that when you're bored of playing a certain way in WF, there's always something else to try. It might not be the most efficient way to play, but at least it's fresh.
ID: gq4t34gI've played a decent bit of Warframe, enough to understand the basics, but the game is so overwhelming. There's so many places to go, and just like vendors and npcs that don't really explain who they are. I felt lost and overwhelmed about what I was supposed to be doing
ID: gq3jlosSeconding this. Warframe has the most enjoyable grind because of the movement, action combat, so many frames and weapons to try, etc. They also keep adding new stuff to the game all the time.
-
Path of Exile if you enjoy Diablo like games
ID: gq3v2dtIt's good info to have. This style of game is called ARPG
-
warframe kinda fits this. its a looter shooter similar in structure to destiny or the division, but the moment to moment gameplay is really slick, in large part due to its fast and fluid movement. robot ninja goodness.
ID: gq4fz74yeah I'm gonna back this up
Warframe has some of the best gunplay on the market
ID: gq4rulmI tried Warframe for about 8 hours, and then fell off. I felt like the missions were all same-y (go here kill these people grab these things) and, at least early on, the game felt a bit too easy. Does this change significantly over time?
-
Destiny 2. Lots of grind but because the gameplay is so on point it´s all fun
-
Nioh 1 and 2. Theres min maxing equipment that gets a grind to it.
ID: gq4r4oyAgreed, I've put 300+ hours into Nioh 2 this last year and it was worth every second.

Escape from Tarkov. It's a resource gathering FPS, I'd say. You go on so called raids for 50min or less on a map and gather resources and battle or avoid enemy players and NPCs (Scavs). It's all about taking home what you find. If you die, you lose everything (except for a small pouch and experience). While this itself is already pretty satisfying, a big part is managing your stash and sell (for ingame money) the stuff you find for profit. After reaching lvl. 10 you unlock the flea market where you can do that with other players. Again, all ingame no real money, however, the flea market follows supply and demand, making certain cheap goods very profitable - like sugar. Plus, leveling your character follows the same principle as in Skyrim; you use your skills, you improve them. You slowly get stronger, healthier, sneakier, have more stamina etc. And last but not least, even though it's an FPS, it's not always about being the better shooter. You can be a so called Rat with mostly cheap gear, loot from dead bodies, avoid combat unless necessary and pick your shots carefully instead of going in guns blazing. In most competitive shooters, it's about the last one/team standing, in Tarkov it's about getting out alive with as much as you can. There's not one winner, there can be several. I feel it's a very refreshing concept.
In short, Escape from Tarkov is very grindy with the added thrill of potentially losing the past 45mins of work (except for the xp) -
The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for sure. 15 characters with DLC, 400 achievements and almost as many item unlocks, tons of boss variety and upgrade combos, and the final expansion is coming out in three weeks, which will make it even huger with another 100 achievements and numerous alternative floors. (Although I think starting with the base game to see if you like it is totally a good move.) Also available on Switch. If you're up for roguelikes, Slay the Spire, Darkest Dungeon, Spelunky 1 + 2, Hades and Risk of Rain 1 + 2 are all excellent and some of my most top-played ever. Not a roguelike, but Hollow Knight is wonderful too.
DOTA 2 is the harshest, most complex MOBA out there, but if you're up to learn a lot of mechanics and want a multiplayer game with is nearly infinite replayability, it costs exactly $0 if you don't care about cosmetics. Unlike LoL, you get every single character for free. The grind is upping your rank, which doesn't actually give you anything but pride and harder games, but you can also pay for DOTA Plus and get more achievements and cosmetics. At some point the International Battle Pass will return but probably not for a while.
Bloons TD 6 is a recent pickup for me with a ton of towers to unlock and upgrade, heroes and powerups to buy and dozens of maps to try out. You can pay real money to speed it up but there's no need. The hardest mode actually removes all upgrades and makes you rely on skill (or tutorials). If you like tower defense games, this is one of the best. Also available on mobile. Speaking of mobile games, I still really like Clash Royale after many years, but it is definitely pay to win to a certain point (when everyone's cards are maxed, then it's about skill.)

Valheim

Following because I’m curious what games are mentioned.
-
I liked the grind in sunless skies. You essentially travel from one side of the map in your slow space train in order to buy things cheap and sell them for higher prices somewhere else.
I found it relaxing and enjoyable but I’m sure there’s some people who would find it incredibly tedious
-
This is how I play Injustice 2. Granted I'm not good at it but i love unlocking new costume pieces.
-
Would I be wrong in suggesting XCom2? And maybe even XCom 2 LW2? This game is freaking amazing.
-
Xenoblade chronicles? I've been playing on the dolphin emulator and i love it, story is getting good so far.
-
Hades. Unquestionably.
-
I think a Pokémon hacked rom called dark rising is fun. It’s purposefully grindy, most like has a feature to x2 the speed so it’s not as much waiting it being turn based combat and the story is pretty dope. It’s made to be very grindy as well which is enjoyable for those who really love Pokémon.
-
Rdr2 online
ID: gq3zznxSecond this. I love the pacing of the game and traveling through the map foraging, hunting, etc. Getting part in different activities throughout it was just a bonus. I got the game back in November and I haven't played that much recently but I put a good 40 hours into it and I never felt like I wasn't having fun.
-
When I think of games with an enjoyable grind, I think Monster Hunter. There's a new game coming out at the end of this month for the Switch!
-
Crash Team Racing nitro fueled has a coin reward system for race.
The game has hundreds if not thousands of unlockables
The grind aspect would just be doing races, which is the whole fun of the game
ID: gq46wrrDoes this game have 2 player co-op like Mario Kart? As in you can play and unlock things together?
-
Valorant I guess? There’s a good competitive system but just playing the game is really fun, especially if you don’t really use comms in higher rank games
-
I personally find that Elite Dangerous has a fun grind, but I may be a minority in that. The idea and process of getting your ship fully kitted and engineered is sometimes more fun than actually doing what you want to do with the ship once it’s done. It’s kind of like building a computer in that respect, the grind is engaging and really gives you something to look forward to
-
Destiny 2. Best fps shooter out there imo. Game expects you to purchase a lot of dlc sadly. $60 or so a year.
-
Diablo 3 End game grind. I have over 1000 hours, its pretty fucking fun, if not Hades as well.
New-season of diablo 3 is starting soon too so just in time! i could link you a couple of youtube guides quick quick its not to complicated or use this

Pokemon revolution online
-
Battlefield/Call of Duty games if they are your cup of tea. You get a constant stream of unlocks as you level up, and everytime you reset you get a unique reward or bragging rights.
ID: gq3v1g5For multiplayer skilled based match making ruins the experience for any casual player really, however, there is the zombies game mode which for some the grind can be fun.
-
Warframe, Deep Rock Galactic
-
Try the Smash Boats demo on the Nintendo Switch!
-
When you say grind, do you like to farm for items? Then maybe you'd like looter shooters, mainly Borderlands series. They may not be "grind" but you farm for items, you grind to max level(and if you are on 2, you grind to get OP10), raid bosses and such. All games can be played on their own, no need to play 1 or 2 if you want to play three or anything.
-
Football, Tactics & Glory
-
That's probably extremely subjective tbh. I would immediately say that PoE fits the bill to me because as long as your build is fun, it'll be a blast no matter the grind
-
Mhh... Enchanted Cave 2 comes to my mind...
-
Dead Cells, It's fantastic
-
Crossout
-
Minecraft?
-
Monster hunter world / rise
-
Loop Hero
-
World of Warcraft: Classic
-
I would deffinatly reccomend dark souls or demon souls also, Battlefield 5 since it is grundy but fun
-
Kenshi, where everything you do help grinding beside idling and sleeping. Running? It trains athletic. Bandaging? It train first aid. Getting beaten up and being eaten alive? Trains toughness. The system courage you to seek out for stronger opponent to fight with death being almost not the problem. You can even exit the state of playing dead and expect your toughness to rise even faster than being eaten alive.
-
Actually Diablo 3 might be right up your alley. The grind is while extremely bland and shitty, is basically infinite, and the action combat is arguably some of the most satisfying and polished in all of PC gaming.
-
Check out Heroes of Hammerwatch. You can endlessly grind to get stronger and the game can also endlessly scale in difficulty too.
-
Idk if people will agree with me but maybe no mans sky and elite dangerous
-
Hades
Soul Calibur 6 story mode
-
Wreckfest has daily online tournaments, where you win points to buy cool new cars, paint jobs etc. but the number of points you need is astronomical, still the tournament races are fun and don't get old as they change them up.
-
I enjoyed Monster Hunter World up until the very endgame where I started to get stomped all the time and it stopped being fun for me. But up till then, I enjoyed the hunts and getting more and more materials to make different armor. Path of Exile - I don't love going through the acts each season and really wish they'd make it like Diablo 3 where you can go straight to Maps, but after I got better at understanding what had some value and could sell stuff and make good builds, it was a lot of fun. Probably going to try it out again when POE2 comes out. Destiny2 has been a lot of fun for me lately. I'm not even really grinding stuff like some people who grind out "god rolls" on certain guns, I'm just playing years of content from years ago. Dead Cells and Hades; they're roguelites where each run usually unlocks something new. Especially Hades where you also get story with most runs, even when you die.

EDF 5
ID: gq47j33Earth Defence Force.
ID: gq47vhcThis is a thread for suggesting games to people. Stop using acronyms. How will someone who has never heard of a game supposed to know what game you are suggesting?
ID: gq469oxSeconding EDF 5. To elaborate for OP, the weapon drops are semi-randomised, giving you a weapon within a certain range of level. If you get duplicates of it, they make a better version of it. Some weapons are just slightly different versions of each other, but there's a massive variety anyway, and in 5 you can unlock stuff for other classes while you play, so if you want to completely switch playstyle then it is easier to do so to get more stuff.
The actual gameplay is open-ended warfare against aliens, with ever increasingly ridiculous weapons. Does have a lot of spiders in, though, just in case you're not fond of that.
ID: gq43oizEDF! EDF! EDF!

Warframe's combat is super fun and fast. Escape from Tarkov's grind is engaging and hurts but it's a good hurt. Destiny's combat has been lacking, but with New Light, a lot of the encounters are better and more engaging and tough. Monster Hunter World's grind is challenging and fun.
-
Outriders maybe. Only the demo is out rn though
-
Fighting games
-
Guild wars 2.
-
Warframe is by far more established, but I'm gonna recommend Spellbreak (they have kind of a similar momentum feel to movement). Its a fairly new game, pretty much entirely held up by how incredible the gameplay is. There's a battlepass to grind for, but other than that you pretty much play for the sake of playing (or grinding in-game currency for skins). Ranked is coming soon though. Its primarily a BR, but it has a TDM mode (Clash) that I play almost exclusively.

What are the warrior games if you don’t mind asking?
