When you have multiple consoles.

Don't forget the gamecube controller, where the bean shaped X button is in the position of the pictured A button.

Here you go.

^ This is Lorax. He speaks for the Wii's

Edit: Thanks for the silver! 😀

ID: gqhhobd

Came here to say this

ID: gqi5d47

b e a n

ID: gqi8i0s

That was and is the GOAT controller though. Gigantic A button ftw

ID: gqi8e3d

Or the Cell Phone, the X is placed in the top corner in between games

ID: gqi9clo

Yeah but the weirdly shaped buttons make it easier for people to associate X with when it says "Press X."

ID: gqi97to

The gamecube controller was the best imo. Just add an L1 and it would be the perfect controller.

Me when emulating a 360 controller with a PS4 controller while playing a Nintendo game on PC.

ID: gqhkdd9

Me on any PC game with my PS4 controller on Steam

ID: gqif76n

Yes, this. I gave BotW on CEMU a try, and my brain just could not keep the button reversal straight. I fell off a lot cliffs on the plateau in that first couple of hours.

ID: gqi533n

i always pull up a pic of the controller for the system i am emulating on my other monitor. makes life much easier.

4 : Anonymous2021/03/10 17:09 ID: gqgsagn

Me literally playing any Nintendo game

ID: gqhwiln

What really kills me about Nintendo isn’t the X button, it’s the swapped ‘accept’ and ‘back’

5 : Anonymous2021/03/10 18:34 ID: gqh6icj

As an older gamer that learned 4 face buttons on an SNES, this hurts

ID: gqixbm6

As someone that jumped between Nintendo and Sega and Microsoft and Sony...fuck me every damn game. At least I have the triggers down.

6 : Anonymous2021/03/10 17:34 ID: gqgwgan

It’s always been a problem for people who play multiple platforms, but as someone who balances both retro games and modern...it’s a nightmare.

Currently playing PS4, ps2, OG Xbox, 360, Xbox one, dreamcast, switch, and a touch of snes. Kinda wish the 360 controller just worked for all

ID: gqib19t

I want to get a PS5, but the Xbox 360 style controller is so perfect

ID: gqhtcxf

Not only do I emulate PSP games on my phone using my Bluetooth Xbox controller...but the configurations are so dated I always have to remap everything.

Honestly, "X" could be anywhere...

ID: gqi54o5

I had to buy a PS4 controller with an Xbox layout because my brain is too old to relearn a new controller.

20 years later I'm still mad that Xbox used the same face buttons from SNES, but moved them around for no reason. Even now, I can't keep them straight.

No matter which controller I'm using I think right is A and down is B, like on Nintendo, and that up is Y and left is X, like on xbox. I hate it.

ID: gqhlykn

Technically Dreamcast did it first so blame Sega ig

ID: gqhmjd7

There's actually a very good reason: the Xbox controller is descended from the Dreamcast controller (and consequently the Genesis/Mega Drive controller), which had A to the bottom-left of B. The Xbox as a whole is essentially a spiritual successor to the Dreamcast and Sega console lineage.

8 : Anonymous2021/03/10 22:40 ID: gqi4nyz

I’ve reprogrammed my Switch Pro controller to my Xbox layout. Much nicer.

ID: gqijzt0

I did that too but certain games don’t recognise you’ve changed the layout... so then it gets confusing as fuck

9 : Anonymous2021/03/10 17:47 ID: gqgypil

X and Y on the Nintendo controllers are the worst for me.

I'm comfortable with all the other buttons on all my other consoles, but I have to look if the Switch game prompts for X or Y.

ID: gqhvmqn

Nintendo did X and Y first so they arent the ones doing it wrong.

ID: gqgzeo6

Or worse: the usual “accept” and “back” buttons are backwards on Nintendo compared with Xbox and Playstation.

10 : Anonymous2021/03/10 22:06 ID: gqi09ak

Press A. I mean, circle... I mean B.

ID: gqifh9t

Trying to teach someone smash bros.

11 : Anonymous2021/03/10 21:28 ID: gqhv35y

LMAO this was me when apex dropped on switch. " hold X" 'tap..tap.. wtf??..squints at controller "ohh riight"

12 : Anonymous2021/03/11 00:03 ID: gqiehpx

I find it worse when going from Xbox to Switch

13 : Anonymous2021/03/10 23:47 ID: gqicp2h

X gon' give it to ya.

14 : Anonymous2021/03/11 00:05 ID: gqieq0o

The caption is wrong. You’re supposed to Press X, not X.

15 : Anonymous2021/03/10 22:20 ID: gqi22he

Worst was when QTE’s were in every game and demanded you press x or die..... I died a lot

16 : Anonymous2021/03/10 23:06 ID: gqi7vzs

All these people too young for a SNES but also never used a Classic controller on the Wii, apparently everyone started gaming on a Xbox 360 or PS2.

17 : Anonymous2021/03/10 21:18 ID: gqhtr22

Needs Gamecube's X for the right face button.

18 : Anonymous2021/03/10 23:08 ID: gqi81am

me doesn’t even realise the mental juggling my brain has to go through to play a simple game lol

19 : Anonymous2021/03/10 23:24 ID: gqi9yyf

i literally CANNOT remember where X and Y are on my switch. it's literally impossible for me for some reason

20 : Anonymous2021/03/10 23:34 ID: gqib5kj

Switch always fucks with me

21 : Anonymous2021/03/10 19:42 ID: gqhge1u

Personally, I've used the PS/XB controllers for so long I've never had an issue switching back and forth, and know what button is for what.

When it comes to Switch, holy crap. It's like learning how to ride a bike again.

If it was not for Nintendo allowing remapping on the Switch, I swear this would have still been a big headache for me.

22 : Anonymous2021/03/10 17:56 ID: gqh0g8n

Emulator problems

23 : Anonymous2021/03/11 00:05 ID: gqieqjw

Can we all agree it’s ‘X’ and not ‘cross’?

24 : Anonymous2021/03/10 21:33 ID: gqhvuju

Playstation X is the best X though right?

ID: gqihi90

Playstation "X" does not exists. It's "cross"

25 : Anonymous2021/03/10 21:23 ID: gqhuig4

It’s all fun and games until your girlfriend gets a switch and you cannot stop backing out of or canceling actions.

26 : Anonymous2021/03/10 23:26 ID: gqiaa31

Going back and forth between Xbox and the Switch is a killer.
