- Granblue Fantasy Versus - Eustace revealed (Out Late April)

Is there any chance of this game getting rollback at some point? I know ASW said they were thinking of giving more of their games rollback patches, but I think I heard somewhere that applying rollback to a game that was designed with delay-based netcode in mind can be very difficult.
I'd love to focus on this game, but even before the pandemic there are no locals near where I live so I'd be relying on online multiplayer...

Ah, I want this game so bad just to experience the shiny graphics...
But I basically don't play FGs anymore, and I have wasted money on a bunch that I never touched...
ID: gq3mah2Plus the netcode is bad (delay-based, laggy).
Any hype the game had faded as soon as the corona pandemic prevented offline tournaments.

Yeah, got it because of that. It looks amazing, especially the effects animation. Some of the super moves are absolutely stunning. It's expensive just for that, though.

Wasn't there a 3d adventure game being made for this series? Or am I thinking of another series?
ID: gq3hpxaThat would be Granblue Fantasy: Relink. They admitted they showed the game off way too early, and that the next news for the it will be late this year or so

Why tf everyone so hot in this series? I don’t wanna get into gacha games, and Arksys fighters aren’t really my jam, but so many of the character designs in Granblue Fantasy are absurdly good.

Characters are 2d during gameplay right? I really can't tell.
In cutscenes tho they are 100% 3d.
ID: gq4lcmxHave a look at this video. It explains the technology that Arcsys uses on their games.
ID: gq3lsslThey're 3D. ASW are masters at making 3D graphics look like well drawn 2D. But the camera can pan and spin around etc.
ID: gq3m6ykIt's a 2.5D fighter (2D gameplay, 3D models).
ID: gq48e2vThe short explanation is that they're 3D, polygonal based character models but Arc System Works has customized the lighting and animations so they look like 2D sprites.

When MKX got retrofitted with rollback it took two years of work and I THINK I heard millions of dollars.
It can be done if a company cares enough but JP devs are still learning about and suspicious of rollback.
It is not easy, it is not cheap to do on a modern game, but can be done.
It is at least a little bit more likely for ArcSys' older games to get it first, like older Guilty Gears. Rollback is cheaper and easier to give there with computing overhead for resimulating the game.
