we can see some graves for each google products that disappeared in the last decade or so. What's the point? I don't know ; it's silly.A lot of the products on the website are simply gimmicks. For example, let's talk about Reply, an app to create personnalized answer to reply quickly to messages. In today's world, it's a completely useless app that has been sort of integrated within our messaging app like messenger. We are offered to choose between three generated replies on the notification of a message. What about SlickLogin? An app to create sound password. It sounds definitely more like an undergraduate engineering project that I would make than an actual product from one of the biggest company of the world. The case of youtube leanback is another one that is interesting. How can you tell me that this product has been killed if the description is litteraly : « YouTube Leanback was an optimized version of YouTube used for television web browsers and webview application wrappers ». Youtube is preinstalled on all of our TVs! Why whould google ever support youtube leanback in 2021?
Some products are also added to this list to make it longer but they aren't really dead:
Tez, which is simply a version of Google Pay for India which has been replaced by Google Pay itself. All the nexus apps that disappeared and were rebranded when the pixel phones replaced the nexus phones. Google zeitgeist that seems to have been replaced by the google search trends. Etc.Honestly, the only products on this list that I've heard of can be counted on my fingers : the nexus phones, google hangout, youtube gaming, google play music and google+. The nexus phones have been replaced by the pixel phones, which, in my opinion, are simply a better version of the nexus phones. Google play music have been replaced by youtube music, which is simply more adapted for the subscription model that I, at least, find more adapted for listening to music (I use spotify since it launched and it's the better thing that ever happenned to the music listener that I am : 100 000 minutes per year for less than 100$ per year). Hangout and youtube gaming were created to copy things that already existed (whatsapp and twitch) that I never heard someone was really using except my mother who didn't want to create a faebook account to use messenger. Google+ had a good run, but like a lot of social media, it fell out of trend and nobody used it at the end.
Yes Google killed products. Let me remind you that Apple, Facebook and Microsoft did the same. They also, all 4, invested huge amount of money in some technologies without seeing some sort of profits before years. Let's think about the Apple watch. Let's think about the first xbox. They are multibillion companies that create new technologies and cloud gaming is one of them. Even if Google stops to invest money in it, you'll be able to finish your new game, let's say cyberpunk 2077, and replay it for the next years. Google never killed a big product (big product being defined by «not a product like the ones mentionned above») after only 3-4 years (If so, it seems to be an exception). And even if stadia dies in 4 years, will you really give a fuck about your cyberpunk 2077? Will you really replay it in 4 years? I can tell you that I won't, like almost 99% the other games that I ever bought on any on my consoles.
Stadia will maybe be added to this killed by google website in the future, but it's certainly not about to happen. Stadia is a real product that has potential. It cannot be compared to the likes of Reply or SlickLogin. Microsoft acknowledge it as one of their biggest competitor to xcloud. All these big tech companies, including Google, know what is on the table here : a big pile of money for the ones that will be able to take a substantial portion of the market.
Just enjoy your games now. On stadia or anywhere you find it better suits your needs and wants. Just don't let the «stadia is going to die» affect your perception of stadia. It won't die tomorrow.

The people who talk about it don't care.
-
It never was an argument, because at best (and as others have pointed out) it's an unintentional meme and at worst it's intentionally disingenuous.
The website itself is an interesting archive, but deploying it as an argument against Stadia is pretty much the same level as "your mum" or "I know you are, but what am I?".
The fact is, if you apply the same criteria for a Google product to be included on Killed by Google to Sony or Microsoft's history, their lists are way longer. It means nothing. Tech companies iterate constantly. Consumer-facing tech companies even more so. That will always leave a trail of bodies.
-
At this point dunking on stadia is a meme. And like any meme, the point is that it doesn't make any sense. Like how doge coin shot up in price. Plenty of people are throwing money down the drain but they do it because it's funny.
Facts don't care about your feelings but memes don't care about your facts.

Google+ still exists as far as I know and is called Connect as part of Workspaces. Hangouts still exists and will be incorporated into Gmail soon. YouTube Gaming will most likely make a comeback.
ID: gq65di4It's called Currents, and Hangouts is being replaced with Chat (formerly known as Hangouts Chat).
ID: gq5uyeuThis is simply more proof that this website is bullshit

You know Stadia Games and Entertainment had potential too. They even congratulated them 3 days before firing them all.
Potiental does not mean success/survive of a product/service.
Let people talk about it, what is bothering you ? Google has to convince both players and developpers that this platform has a future, and will be sustained by Google as a strategic brand. It is up to them to do the necessary. And it is to us players to tell what is going Ok and what is going wrong.
Pretenting that everything is fine, is quite counterproductive when you look at all the bad press from journalists, streamers, and players.
I have all the pain of the world to convince at least one of my friends to try it (gamers, non gamers, relatives). Not to pay fot it, but just to try it. Think about that.

For me, potential is all it takes to make google try. When I invest in a company, it's the potential of a company that gives me a reason to wait for my money to grow, not the company products at the time I buy shares. How would Google grow capital if they don't invest in a potential gain but just in something that is well-established and has no room to grow?

It's bothering me because the bad press is made just for the sake of doing bad press. The website killed by google is one example of people trashing stadia without any reason. They just give a link to this meaningless website to try to convince people not to use stadia.
Can you think of something that is worth «bad press» except the closing of SG&E?
Try stadia, discuss of the experience you get out of it.But don't say a product is garbage with no substance to back it up. That's my point.

Yeah, as others have said, for the site and the people who cite it these kinds of facts are not important.
But while we're on the subject, one of my favourite listings is Google Cloud Messaging, a service which allowed Android devices to receive push notifications. Astute observers may have noticed that these devices still receive push notifications...due to the existence of a Google service called Firebase Cloud Messaging.
ID: gq60echWe can only laugh about this website. It's a joke only to make stadia and Google look like memes.

I have never seen a community so defensive as the stadia community. Why post and upvote this insecure bullshit

They killed off good services that worked well as well like Google play music replacing it with the crap-turd YouTube Music!!
They're suddenly charging for Google photos this summer so now I have to find a new alternative. They're killing off Hangouts when that worked well and was liked. Honestly it's so shitty finding google services you like because they fuck em up and kill em off!!
This year alone I had to replace these 3 services (hangouts google play and Photos) and it looks like they're gonna kill stadia too through just awful PR management!

How was Google play music better than that?
I find spotify way better than the music app on my ancient iPod 4. I pay 10$ per month to have unlimited access to all the music I want. What could be better than that?
Hangouts when that worked well and was liked.
Someone said in the comments that Hangout is being added to Gmail.

Yeah that's a silly move for sure.
