- DEATHLOOP early review scores: MC 89 (40 critics), OC 88 (49 critics)

For those interested. Here is a list of every game to get a 10 from IGN and GameSpot
deathloop, persona 5 royale, super mario odyssey, legend of zelda breath of the wild, metal gear solid V the phantom pain, grand theft auto 4, super mario galaxy 2, metal gear solid 4, legend of zelda ocarina of time
Edit: didn't expect this to be confusing since "and" means both. But yeah this is a list of games that got a 10 from both the outlets
ID: hcoqwljID: hcos1zwI can see from the replies to your comment that there are a lot of people here who have never taken even an introductory programming course in their lives.
ID: hcp8iwsIf (user lacks programming training) and (user doesn’t understand basic grammar context) then provide spoon-fed details else proceed as normal.
ID: hcp7nzyBoth10 = "'IGN_Score = 10' AND 'GameSpot_Score = 10'"
ID: hcqjwwnMan. Reviews trigger people so much.

The 10s from IGN and Gamespot are the most unexpected 10/10 I have probably ever seen. I was always going to get this game but these scores are nice to see. It seems like the game will really appeal to you if it is your thing
ID: hcovecaYeah. I was expecting a safe 8 or 9 at most based on Arkane's track record.
ID: hcovx3xYeah this game seemed more in line with Dying Light or Prey. Favourable and positive reviews but 8/10 kind of games. The implications of a 10 are pretty big.
ID: hcp66r6I know a lot of people on here have been bitching about the game but I’m super excited for it. Love this dev
ID: hcpakqsOnly because it’s been delayed a bunch, and because a lot of playstation events have had the same basic trailer for it. I think it’s just advertising fatigue
-
I’ve never played a Dishonored game so seeing Deathloop is getting well recieved is exciting, I can’t wait to play it tomorrow.
ID: hcpwupvI’ve never played a Dishonored game
You've gotta fix that!
ID: hcp6et6Do yourself a favor and play Dishonored when you get that chance. All of them. They are so good!
-
Awesome. The trailers didn't excite me much at all but I'll give it a try based on these reviews.

So glad to hear it is getting in general very good reviews. I love Arkane games. I am surprised ACG gave this a wait for sale when everyone else loves it. I'm going to stick with my love of Arkane games and now get this day 1.
ID: hcpc0dyAs much as I like ACG the dude has a stong uncle Phil bone that he always struggles to get rid of when reviewing. Still a nice channel but always relevant to keep his biases in mind when watching his coverage. In the words of the late great TB, "everyone has bias". The worthy critics are the ones that wear these on the sleeve so that people can evaluate not only the game but the whole coverage of the game and how it relates to one's personal world view.
ID: hcplfbyForgive my ignorance but, what's Uncle Phil bone? I watch ACG but hadn't heard that term before.
ID: hcqg5dzI like ACG and I can see the bias.
When he gave The Ascent an instant buy and saying it’s one of the most fun games he’s played in a long time, I hopped on board.
Turns out I should have waited for a sale. I haven’t been able to finish it, as it feels like it’s slogging at the point im on.
DeathLoop is being more unique, modern, and has a lot of moving parts while The Ascent felt very old school and grounded.

A shitload of people are about to eat a shitload of crow.
ID: hconapaseriously so many people here said bad things about it and I was always looking forward to play this game … now I am really happy. Arkane Studios always delivers great game experiences
ID: hcow8pzIt’s Reddit. We are negative af… when not fanboying.
Also, I preordered. Arkane can do no wrong.
ID: hcqgfcbEveryone was crying about DeathLoop being shown at the showcase but I was over there like “I’m already sold”
ID: hcomqchI think the marketing didn't do the game justice. I was mildly interested but never while watching the trailers did I think "yeah this looks like it could be the best game of the year".
And I also heard Dreamcastguy on the Spawncast say that Sony kinda misrepresented the game a little.
So yeah, now I will definitely buy it and see for myself what the hell is going on.
ID: hcopwbrThe marketing for the game was fine. It is not easy to convey what this type of game actually is. It's a problem that existed with Prey. It is a problem that existed with Dishonored. It's a problem that has always existed with every game of this type.
I really just think that the vast majority of the negative sentiment related to this game is just down to the fact that Sony wasn't showing other games for an extended period of time. People were mad about not seeing other games, and not about seeing too much of Deathloop. If during a couple of the State of Plays that had majorly featured Deathloop, there had also been a trailer for God of War or any of the other stuff Sony was working on, I don't think general sentiment for the game would have become what it is. A bunch of people had misplaced expectations about what games Sony was going to show off and when during the State of Plays over the course of this year. And when Sony didn't show what people wanted to see, a bunch of people got salty and turned their anger towards Deathloop for no reason.
ID: hcpuf0rThe thing about Arkane's games is that they've never marketed super well. They're just not that great in trailers. The charm of their games is in discovering things for yourselves and playing it for yourself.
Arkane's games are very much "oh, I can go there and do that thing with this ability, push this thing that later triggers this other thing and ooooh, interesting..." and that just doesn't show off well in a 3 minute sizzle reel.

Arkane says Goodbye with a Bang
-
Jeez game was completely off my radar but now I’m taking notice
ID: hcon32vWait, really? This is quite funny to hear as a lot of people have been complaining about it being “over-marketed”
ID: hcom4h5How was that even possible lol
ID: hcow0yjHe might mean that it was there but never had any intention of buying it.
Like myself, if both ign and GameSpot are saying its a 10 then I gotta try it
-
This really reminds me of Returnal a bit. Sentiment towards that game was really bad until reviews dropped and it turned out to be a hit. Let’s see if the sentiment towards Deathloop will turn around as well. I‘m looking forward to playing it.
ID: hcop7awI think most people were upset with the price of Returnal not the game itself. Even though I enjoyed Returnal a lot I still felt like I could had waited for a sale.
ID: hcpmfzkEnjoyed Returnal for the time that I had it, though could only rent it because of that price.
ID: hcovg32A lot of people outright wished for Deathloop to be bad because of who owns Arkane now… so, there’s that
-
Only super negative review I’ve seen seems to be from Ars Technica.
ID: hcpau2eWell ACG give it a "wait for sell"
-
Arkane's swansong on Playstation. Sucks that they'll be gone for good.
-
A lot of people were complaining that this game got too much coverage.
Looks like a solid title. Here's hoping it is a hit sales wise.
-
It’s interesting the difference between the critics on Metacritic versus the popular YouTube reviewers. The big sites like IGN and GameSpot are calling it a masterpiece while the big YouTube reviewers seem to be calling it lackluster. Will be curious to see where the public falls on it.
ID: hcpusdgI was just watching the Kinda Funny Gamescast and all four of the people there were like "fuck, this might be my game of the year" soooo... *shrug*
ID: hcowte8Clearly DEATHLOOP’s marketing reach has become so immense they’re paying off reviewers too /s
-
The fact that this is only for $54 instead of $70 deserves just as much praise as well.
-
Hope everyone now understands why Sony was pushing Deathloop as the premier PS5 console exclusive for this coming holiday season.
-
Wow. All I ever seen was shit talking about this game and how it was going to flop so hard. Reviews seem to be saying the opposite…
-
Everything arkane makes fucking slaps
-
Between Tales of Arise, Life is Strange, and now Deathloop this is a great week for games.
ID: hcoqbkxI'm playing Tales of Arise now and I don't know when I'll have time for Deathloop. Tales is fantastic but clearly a big commitment
ID: hcorpwmExactly. Insane to release all these games – like JRPGs that are going to disproportionately be played on Playstation – the same week. But, publishers hate to release things over the summer.
-
Damn, wasn’t expecting this.
Arkane leaving PlayStation with a bang.

Thanks for that! I honestly was curious what other games received their 10/10 score. It sounds like Deathloop is in good company which makes me happy. I was really hoping it would do well!
