It's asking for people with experience with online multiplayer with social functions, not strictly mmo designers. This could easily be for some sort of live service game that's like Destiny or The Division, which is fine imo, I like those games but it could go in a lot of directions.

Its not known what project this is for , maybe a complementary multiplayer mode for Forbidden West , New IP or maybe something else entirely. Could be anything, article doesn't seem to have much info apart from the fact that they seem to be hiring for multiplayer(and generally mmo) related roles.
ID: hermiwsHey you never know, if you were to tell me that Ghost of Tsushima was going to have multiplayer and it being a free add on in a few months after launch I’d laugh in your face.
PlayStation Studios adding multiplayer to their games when/if they see fit would be a welcome surprise so I hope this is a trend going forward as Legends is easily one of my favorite multiplayer experiences on PS5 at the moment.
ID: hertvy7Makes sense if Forbidden West is a short game, but I'm guessing that's not the case because it's open world. These game are a pretty effective grind, I don't think I can enjoy this as a multiplayer game having spent hundreds of hours as Alloy doing the grind as a single player. Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.
I just wanna see what's next from this brilliant team!

Good. The universe of the series could easily be done as an online game and it would finally give something fresh in the Sony line up.
There are so many possibilities.
Gimme a survival game like ark but with horizon zero dawn polish and lore and creatures and it's going to be a hit.
Or you could do something like monster hunter world but with the creatures aloy fights + more. Taking down robots with your friend and using their parts to make armor and weapons sounds fun.

Seems like everything nowadays is multiplayer. Its gonna be a rough gen for single player gamers

Look at Ghost of Tsushima which even though has a decent multiplayer mode doesn't seem like a game that would have one. They are also investing more in mobile games and reducing their AAA output. You need to wake up and look at what is in front of you

Great news but hopefully they wont stop focusing on the single player game if the multiplayer turns out to be a success. Too many companies have been doing that :/

HZD is like uncharted, or tomb raider.
its a beautiful story, playable movie, and I think it's phenomenal.
an MMO just seems like the "buzzword" thing to do, in a time where everyone and their mother is doing MMOs.
