I loved Actraiser when I was a kid. Bought it for the switch when I first heard about it. Didn’t know at the time it was released on PS4. I’ll probably buy it on there too. The only thing that would make it better, to me any way, is if it came with the original game as well.

Yeah, a little bit of an oversight there to not do that. The game’s so new though that maybe it exists as an Easter egg?

I thought you could switch to the original game whenever you wanted while playing?

You can switch the music to original and because there's new songs in this game, switching to the original will sound like it was made in the super famicom chip. really cool stuff!

This new version takes a while to get going, but hits a stride after the first world (Fillmore).

It's a shame about the performance issues on the Switch, and I'm not thrilled with some of the visuals and animation, but the game is solid. I still have access to the original on the Wii's virtual console, but it would have been nice to include that as an extra here.

And what a great soundtrack.

I hear you can hit 60 fps on switch if you turn off environmental effects.

Unfortunately not. 🙁 However, it does improve performance a little. There are also weird frame pacing issues with the scrolling (even on the PS5) during the action stages, which I heard might be related to some commonly misapplied Unity settings.

I got it. Put about 22 hours into it to max out every town and get the true ending.

Actraiser is one of my favorite SNES games, so it took me a minute to warm up to the changes and I definitely have an issues with certain things.

But, I'm happy the game got any love at all considering what we got with Actraiser 2.
