It's not only in those countries. It's everywhere. Come to think of it and i wonder who are the scalpers right now because every store around me is at more than 150% msrp (and i'm being gentle). I know a shop that has the employees bringing gpu's out of the store and selling them online with even more price increase and full warranty in the name of the shop... We are doomed!

ID: hga5g1o

It's not only about scalping. The Chip Shortage is totally rekting the market. The reason for that is, as supply gets tighter, prices increase; and if there isn't an large amount supply to sustain demand, there's no price decrease.
It doesn't matter if they're in stock. If there isn't a huge pile of GPUs going unsold, or other economic factors(like a new generation of GPUs that are more profitable in the way) there's zero point for prices to decrease. Don't expect a price fall this soon.

3 : Anonymous2021/10/11 19:13 ID: hg9hop0

It‘s simple. Just stop buying GPUs at those prices. If demand stays like this, prices will as well.

ID: hgaknl6

Hard to avoid if you need a GPU.

ID: hg9kk48

This. I'm not buying a graphics card until the prices go back to being sane or I'm forced to (and even then I'm strongly considering moving to an APU).

I regret not getting a ryzen 7 5700g when I upgraded, I got the ryzen 5 5600x instead, still great though but I just hope my msi rx 580 is still going strong

ID: hgcwxdb

That's what I did. I was hoping to build a light gaming/htpc, but I can't justify spending as much on a gpu as I would on the entire rest of the system. So I got a 5600G. It's a bit anemic, but it'll do. I can game in 720p until prices drop.

ID: hgaa80p

Yes, if it was up to gamers. But it’s up to miners and for them even 3x more still might be profitable

ID: hg9n1mt

I'm going with a xbox series x, even at scarper price it's still cheaper than even a rx 580 which is going right now on amazon for 829$

That's a 6 4 years old gpu

Pc gaming is great and superior to consoles in my opinion, but i simply can't justify these prices anymore, a xbox series x's gpu runs like a rtx 2080 ti if i'm not mistaken, on my country's craigslist equivalent you can get them for roughly 650$ at the current exchange rate

Hell a god damn gtx 640, 9 god damn years after launching is now 170$

So, yeah, pc gaming simply makes no sense anymore. The low and mid range price brackets are death.

Edit: to further my point, Game pass is also a thing so i don't even have to re-buy my entire steam library as a lot titles like doom eternal, nier automata, battlefield, etc, are included in the subscription. And even if game pass wasn't a thing you guys have to remember: we don't have re buy our entire libraries, only the games that we do care about.

ID: hg9soq4

RX 580 is from 2017. So about 4 years (5 if you count the 480). Point still stands though. Sorry, had to comment.

ID: hgaq2sf

I always thought about this. But then, all your PC games library is useless. Need to buy new games again. It's just not worth it.

ID: hgajqxd

I bought my rx 580 for $300 back in 2017 so yeah it’s either amd ryzen apu or console

ID: hgbh93c

Can also buy a steam deck when that comes out.

ID: hgbpr9b

You could buy 3070ti for 150% MSRP and 3080ti for 120% MSRP (august prices) and mine difference before ETH dies

ID: hgc5hls

In Romania, we have ps5 morales and 2 more games for 700 euro. Not a bad deal. Just 150 euro mark up.

ID: hgc390l

It's a bit more complex than that. Need combination of two:

1) stop buying GPU cards

2) stop fueling crypto bubble bazinga

ID: hgbbssb

It's easy to say when you've got a card even when running a 1070 it's difficult not to upgrade, if pricing is still high next generation I'm going to have to buy something which is why Intel need to release something.

ID: hgbdlzo

Payed 1k for a 6700xt cashed out 1050 2 days ago, that’s why they sell.

ID: hgc8wqa

They won't. It's consumerism. They want to play the newest games at the best settings.

ID: hgce6l3

I use a Radeon VII on a 2160p60 monitor. People are telling me my GPU is too weak for that resolution. I just don‘t game at Ultra presets and it works perfectly fine. That is my advise for almost all PC gamers right now. Just step down a little. In most games it looks almost identical but performs better.

4 : Anonymous2021/10/12 03:17 ID: hgb85s0

Yeah this is insane. Regardless of team green or red I have decided my 1070 can hold out for another generation when there is hopefully more capacity for chips around.

The other PC is rolling a 270x still and was due to inherit my 1070 this gen but I guess we'll see how long that can go now!

5 : Anonymous2021/10/12 07:08 ID: hgbtrz2

Damn and people called me a madman because i overpaid 100€ on my 6900xt .... that was basically a steal at this point ...:/

6 : Anonymous2021/10/11 22:42 ID: hga93r2

laughs in retro gaming

Thinking of selling my RX 580 and 1700/B350 and pick up a 5600g/B550/3600/16 16GB.

ID: hgbcqqh

How will the graphics performance of 5600G compare to RX580?

ID: hgbdm77

Idk. 5600g performs like a rx 550? If I can $400-$500 for my 580 then I'll let it go to a miner.

ID: hgd0f7x

If you actually want to game on your PC it's a bad idea. If you plan on just putting games on the back burner then your call.

ID: hgef9rf

Thinking of a cpu upgrade though if there's a deal for 5000 series and the upcoming Zen 3D. So I'll just wait until Black Friday to snag a 5800x.

9 : Anonymous2021/10/12 08:44 ID: hgc03al

Been a pc gamer my whole life, but its time to know when to stop, i can buy 4 playstation 5 for the same price as a 3080 in my country.

Im leaving for console. This cant go on any longer

ID: hgc9790

Burn the heretic!

But for real though, this chip shortage sucks.

10 : Anonymous2021/10/11 21:00 ID: hg9w7mw

I was lucky to buy mine for 670€ in December

Radeon RX 6800XT

🙂

ID: hgc1z23

Got mine for 720£ in January

11 : Anonymous2021/10/11 19:02 ID: hg9g2fq

I thought you said you bought it to mine

12 : Anonymous2021/10/11 19:30 ID: hg9jz5o

I had to go through so many hoops just to get a 3200g in India. Components are hard to come by online. Just had to call up local shops and place orders.

ID: hgahcre

I'm from Malaysia. AMD APU is in extremely huge demand here (hence the higher price when stock was available but now becoming rare) because GPU price is just insane.

13 : Anonymous2021/10/11 19:26 ID: hg9je2p

I bought my 6600xt for pretty much MSRP + VAT on day two. I think that was largely due to YouTubers slating it as a bad buy despite being way cheaper than the green offering.

ID: hg9l64m

We're part of the lucky few you and I. I got my 6900XT on early January for 1150 euros. A price like this is simply unimaginable nowadays...

14 : Anonymous2021/10/11 19:32 ID: hg9kati

ouch. yeah, was hard to find some cards for my mining rig

15 : Anonymous2021/10/12 10:27 ID: hgc6vy4

I mean people buy them so they raise the prices it's easy money for everyone involved.

16 : Anonymous2021/10/12 10:37 ID: hgc7msc

And i thought i was getting ripped off when buying an RX6800XT for 100€ over MSRP...

i guess i was, just not as much as i would be now

17 : Anonymous2021/10/12 10:54 ID: hgc8ykg

I pray to the gods my RX580 will be healthy for a loooooong time.

18 : Anonymous2021/10/11 18:44 ID: hg9diwd

Glad i payed 1007,99 for mine
