Seems like big update performance-wise. There were some frame drops and tearing in OG Subnautica which looks like they addressed. Too bad I finished the game already

Subnautica: Fix for screen tearing on 4K displays. Vsync for PS5 performance mode. Dynamic Resolution support. Subnautica and Below Zero: Fix for save files disappearing Saves are now fault-tolerant and should not corrupt on fails Screenshots are reduced in quality to avoid consuming save size Save process is now optimized into a single step Save sizes increased to 96 MiB (with 6 slots enabled) Screenshots no longer display desaturated and/or incorrect

Duck yes. I have been holding off.

unknownworlds.com/subnau...

finally goddammmmm

ID: hidgrlw

Screenshots are reduced in quality to avoid consuming save size

Please tell me they don’t mean the system screenshots, just their save images...

I only just installed the game a few days ago and haven’t played it yet, I read that patch note and am so confused for same reason

At least your explanation makes sense to me

ID: hifc6nr

Awesome. Screen tearing was reallllly bad.

Oh shit, 60fps subnautica could entice me

ID: hid9mfl

The PS5 version was already targeted 60fps

ID: hidgz63

Was it? I heard it was awful

4 : Anonymous2021/10/28 06:09 ID: hiclsh4

I will never stop loving subnautica.

ID: hidornh

I will never stop being scared shitless playing subnautica as well

ID: hie34ky

What game would you compare it to?

ID: hiemxqz

It’s like Minecraft and no mans sky had an ocean baby. It’s a survival game where you explore an ocean, collect resources, build bases, figure out why your ship crashed and how to build a rocket to escape

ID: hif6qop

There is no game that can be compared with subnautica. Buy it for around 20 bucks and enjoy it. (And maybe shit in your pants 72 times)

5 : Anonymous2021/10/28 06:04 ID: hiclf55

Great games both, id love to see what unknown worlds could do with a AAA budget.

6 : Anonymous2021/10/28 09:23 ID: hiczp6v

Has the awful performance been fixed?

ID: hidh7ni

Much better now!

7 : Anonymous2021/10/28 05:47 ID: hicjzc9

My son plays both regularly. Loves ‘em!

8 : Anonymous2021/10/28 14:29 ID: hidv0p4

Finally I can finish this game, the 4K fix made it unplayable. Too bad I missed out on all the trophies from manually turning vsync on.

Have they added adaptive triggers to Subnautica yet? I remember when the PS5 version was released they’d said they were coming in a later patch.

ID: hidh6n0

No.

ID: hidij00

Shame. I’m planning on going back to it, but want to hold off until they’ve been added

10 : Anonymous2021/10/28 13:12 ID: hidkn7h

Did they ever add adaptive triggers to Subnautica 1? I remember hearing they would add them eventually so I've been waiting untill they add them to play again.

I’ve tried like 10 times to get into this game but I just don’t know what I’m supposed to do. So I swim with the fishes for 30 min endlessly until I turn it off. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

You’re trying to survive the crash. The first thing you want to do is build a base. Then, keep trying to go deeper. You’ll hit natural barriers to doing so, which requires to figuring out how to get past those barriers by fabrication more tools from the things you find the deeper you go. Eventually you’ll figure out what the game is having you do, and you’ll focus very it does have an ending.

It’s very much about exploration and advancing your base. If you just jumped into free mode and swam around then yea, you’ll get bored for a while because it’s not really a creative or competitive base building game the way something like Minecraft or Ark are.

Thx for the detailed explanation. I’ll give it a shot again

ID: hidhgo5

There's a fabricator in your pod. Check what you need for the scanner and repair tool and go from there.

ID: hidker1

That’s helpful thanks.

ID: hidtmvf

After that you need to explore and find crashing sites and so to scan for new devices

Hahahha

I might give this another go after losing my save file 20 hours in.

13 : Anonymous2021/10/28 10:54 ID: hid6jt3

They still didn't add DS support for the first game?

14 : Anonymous2021/10/28 13:06 ID: hidjw5m

Hopefully this actually fixes the save issues. Had my saved data corrupted on both games.

15 : Anonymous2021/10/28 13:40 ID: hidobne

I there full dualsense support?

16 : Anonymous2021/10/28 14:42 ID: hidwv7q

I love this game but man was it developed poorly. Besides the obvious drops in framerate which hopefully is fixed, I had a huge bug in my game where a door I needed to open for the story wouldn't open... Luckily I found out there are console commands so I had to force my way into the door that way.

17 : Anonymous2021/10/28 15:59 ID: hie8d1t

Still no vibration so not interested.

18 : Anonymous2021/10/28 17:53 ID: hiepx9z

One of those games that I wish I could wipe my memory to play again.

19 : Anonymous2021/10/28 20:49 ID: hifgh0l

Anyone know the Resolution for both modes for the base Subnautica?

20 : Anonymous2021/10/28 22:21 ID: hiftflo

Pop ins? ..with the ps5's ssds it shouldn't happen, but knowing Unknown World.... So does it do anything with the ssd?

21 : Anonymous2021/10/28 10:49 ID: hid6671

V-Sync? Didn’t know PS5 supports this feature.

ID: hidhbu9

It doesn't support VRR, V-Sync just means no tearing.
