- PULSE 3D Wireless Headset - Now in Black
-
What would you guys say is the best bang for your work when it comes to sound/comfort for a headset? I’m open to wired options too at this point
I keep hearing mixed reviews about the pulse, a friend of mine got it and he says it's not the most comfortable and you can't adjust it either which seems to match some of the reviews I'm reading.
ID: hjinczkID: hjinh7vAny suggestions for wired? I’ve been wireless for years but if I can get better quality/sound/comfort for a solid price then I don’t think I’d mind wired.
ID: hjjz0qsAs an owner of the steel series 7p and the pulse headset, the 7p wins in all areas with the exception of onboard mixer for game/ voice chat
ID: hjiy68iGet it from somewhere that you can return it easily.
I didn’t like it. Sound was bad but I was coming from really good wired headphones. Comfort was bad but I have a big head.
I went with the steelseries arctis 7p after previously having the original arctis 7 (gave it to my brother). Much better headset. Very comfy, good boom mic, good battery life. They oddly took away some features from the old one which I liked, such as the chat vs game audio mixer. But that’s in the ps5 software now so not a huge deal I guess.
Of course the “best” thing is good pure headphones and slap a mic on it. The boompro if the cord can be removed, or an antlion modmic and adapter if not. But wireless is a big factor.

Black PS5 incoming?!!?
-
I was gifted these last week by a friend and it's just as advertised - it's black.
I'm not usually into wireless headsets, I prefer wired headphones but these are nice to have especially with the EQ presets in the UI.
-
Just give us black plates!
ID: hjg35w4Probably not too far behind now that black controller and black headphones are out
ID: hjga79bWe will be getting a black remote, charge station and black webcam before the black plates
ID: hjk9u8nPretty ass-backwards way of doing it imo. They should release the main, base product in black, and then drop all the accessories. But logic is difficult in billion dollar companies.
ID: hjh2rksFull black ps5 as well
-
A good headset for casual gaming.
If you plan on wearing a headset for more than 3 hours a day I’d recommend the Arctis 7p. Sound quality is similar (but can be customized), the comfort level is night and day. Pulse feels like you’re wearing 2 donuts that have have been left in the fridge for a little too long whereas the Arctis feels like your ears are being caressed by the Michelin man
The only time I use the Pulse is when my 7p is charging
ID: hjg833h7P+ Now with USB-C connectivity!
ID: hjgskxbThank you! I have been waiting on a refresh of the 7P because I didn’t want to use Micro USB in 2021. Getting these immediately!
ID: hjhn7yeIt’s not wireless?
ID: hjiiejrDang, not available on Amazon yet.
ID: hjitbqzHell ya thanks for the heads up. USB C and quick charging will come in handy.
ID: hjgb9fvI disagree with this, I find them comfortable but they do run hot. My only complaint.
ID: hjg1ltrThat's good to know because I don't want a pair of car tires on my ears.
ID: hjgo692For whatever it’s worth, I’ve found these car tires to be mighty comfortable around my ears
ID: hjhmt32I had them and returned them. Terrible headphones man.
The reddit post reviewing them from an audio engineer led me astray...
Do not buy.
It was one of those experiences where you unfortunately can immediately tell, but want to give it an honest shake in the hopes you're wrong.
After a few hours of use and gameplay, I made a definitive decision to return.
The reason I referenced my Steel series is they fall within the same purchasing price point tier, but offer a superior experience.
The PS headphones should be in the $50-$65 tier based on their performance imho.
ID: hjg9zyfArctis 7p doesn’t allow for voice chat/game volume mixing, so if you plan to play with anyone else and actually want to hear what they are saying then I would recommend the Sony versions
ID: hjgpjkvThis was an issue on PS4 but PS5 let's you adjust chat volume individually per person now. So you could literally fine tune your settings and make it perfect.
I typically use Astro A50s but I'm on vacay so I'm using a wired HyperX C2 and with the chat volume tuning it's no big deal at all. So much so that I ditched the A50s optical audio solution to give you a proper chat/game mix and opted for the built in solution. Obviously it's not as great but it works and is more convenient.
Also in comparison, the Pulse 3Ds are pretty much trash. They're fine if you're in need of something and don't care. They're shit if you care somewhat about sound and quality and comfort. The price itself speaks to how mediocre/bad it is.
ID: hjjudmhThat’s a Sony limitation right now…No 3rd party PS5 headset has built in chat/mix but it’s not that big of a deal as you can still easily adjust it on the system itself. Obviously you’re able to hear other people with a non-Sony headset. I use the 7x on the PS5 all the time.
ID: hjg8mkfI haven't tried the Arctic but have to agree that the pulse 3d aren't very comfortable. I also have really big ears so that doesn't help. But it's relatively uncomfortable for me.
ID: hjik2hpTry the PC38x from Drop
It is a wired solution but they are super comfortable
Using a pair of HD58x right now and they are just as comfortable as the PC38x just without a mic - dont really care as my friends can hear me just fine with the built mic on the DualSense controller
Im not streaming on Youtube so dont need a crystal clear mic so used the HD58x i already owned
But if you dont own a pair grab the PC38x they are the best gaming headset on the market
-
Anyone considering a pair should know they’re not adjustable. You’ll need an average head.
ID: hjgf8kzUser problem, simply adjust your head instead.
ID: hjg8u8cBig head guy checking in-- indeed uncomfortable
ID: hjh2pwkReally? I have a pretty big head and a lot of hair and these fit great on me.
ID: hjhmuqnI had them and returned them. Terrible headphones man.
My artic steel series better quality and comfort.
The reddit post reviewing them from an audio engineer led me astray...

ID: hjglrpgI have a massive head. Almost nothing fits. These fit perfectly fine. Take that for what’s worth
ID: hjk23a2Agreed. I have a giant head and these fit great.
-
Don't buy these if you wear glasses. I always warn people, they are so damn uncomfortable with glasses.
-
Mine are supposed to arrive later today!
-
Mine is arriving today, can’t wait to go wireless and give this thing a try.
-
Black ps5 now? Want to jump into the ecosystem
-
I must have a weird head because I wear mine for hours a day and they are the most comfortable over ear headphones I've ever head. Had a hyper x cloud before and really didn't like them.
-
I love the design, I love the seamless console integration, and I love the sound quality, but this headset simply isn’t comfortable for more than an hour of playtime. Don’t know about others, but I’d happily pay a premium for a more comfortable alternative.
ID: hjg9571If you still have yours and want to pay to make the headband more comfortable, look into the dekoni nuggets. They are little tiny cushions to put along the headband to make it more comfortable. About $20 but it’s worth it if you want to keep the headset for a while.
ID: hjg89goAgreed it just isn’t a comfortable headset to me, and you can’t adjust it to make it more confortable. I also think the sound quality is weak but I know that’s a totally subjective thing.
ID: hjgtv78I dont see how that's subjective. These sound sooo much worse than my steelseries for the same price. Tried them in ps5 and pc, games and music and consistantly these were more in line with my various $10 Chinese earbuds and headphones, and nothing close to a headset that costs over $100. Mids high and lows all lack punch. They are just tinny sounding. Couple that in with being completely unajustable (mind boggling) and returning the pulse was the easiest decision of my life.
-
PS5 now in black please!
ID: hjh2hx2I'll take pink at this point
-
PSA for anyone looking to buy this: DONT.. I have never owned headset so uncomfortable.. this shit is horrible.. cheaper hyper x Cloud and even cheap ass Xbox official headset are like Massage after wearing pulse 3D. I regret buying IT and am saving money to get Arctis 7p
-
Do the ear pads degrade and rub off over time like the gold ones? That's my only concern buying another sony headset
ID: hjgkieoI got mine at launch and both sides have degraded considerably alredy
ID: hjgsjjaArctic it is. The psvr has the same issue. They gotta stop using that garbage ass material
-
I love my pulse headset
-
I have the original color and they’re mad uncomfortable after an hour or so. Thought redditors complaining was just par for the course bullshit, but no, they were right. Kind of regret the purchase.
-
You may also want to try and swap the ear cups. I changed mine and the headset is now much more comfortable. If you don't use the headset and regret the purchase, you have nothing to lose. I have also created a comment here with a link/guide on how to change the earcups
-
I may try that. Thanks for the tip!
-
I changed the ear pads from the pulse headset. This was the best decision ever. The headset is now so nice to wear and my ears don't hurt anymore after 1 hour of gaming. Bevor i don't liked to use it and played the solo games only with tv audio. Now I use them every time. The sound is a little different with more bass. But with the equalizer I was able to fix that. I got the new pads for 10€ from Amazon.
Here's the video guide how to change the pads.
-
Did you order the Geekria set? Or did you order a cheap pair and customize a set?
-
I have answered another comment here where I have linked the pads which I ordered from Amazon.
-
I'm gonna give this a go on my black set and have just ordered a set of replacement pads. Thanks for the heads-up that this was possible and the for link. Appreciated.
-
That's great. Would you like to inform me here as soon as the new pads are arrived and how you like them ?
-
What pads did you get?
-
If you have a large head DO NOT buy these. They squeezed the hell out of my brain to the point where I returned them.
-
Arctis 7P were good headsets while they lasted but the charging port literally fell out after a couple of months of use. When I talked with Arctis about the warranty they said they had not seen headphones break like that so too bad screw off.
They diagnosed this with two pictures of the outside of the headset.
Terrible support.
-
Man fuck sony so hard for this. Everyone wanted a black controller, console and headset.
Now that all the early adopters have already bought this shit they start releasing black accessories. Fucking annoying.
-
These are garbage headsets. You can buy a wired pair of anything for $10-20 for the same quality. Horrible headphones (if you seemingly don't know what sound is or what things should sound like, you'll probably think they're fine)
-
Anyone want to trade a black pair for a white pair?
-
Might just have to pick up a pair. I still have teh white ones, but during a house move I, sadly, lost the Dongle for it, and it just doesn't feel the same using it wired.
-
Glasses wearing nerds like myself: are the 7p+ more comfortable than the ear ache Pulse 3D? I've always wondered about its comfort for people who wear glasses.
-
I wear glasses, own the 7p and I even have a huge head and let me tell you that headset is so god damn comfortable your glasses won’t bother you at all
-
Awesome thank you!
-
I have a normal size head, wear glasses and the 7p is comfortable AF
-
I have Sony Platinum Headset should I upgrade and get these ?
-
It wouldn't be an upgrade. You should get something like the 7p if you're wanting a new set
-
Sound quality takes a little bit of a hit. Comfort is better (in my opinion; my ears would touch the speakers of the Platinum). USB C is worth it for the one cable to charge your controlle
. Controls are better than the Plat and mic is better too. Pulse also has louder talkback.I think I sold my Platinums for $80 so the Pulse was only $20 in the end. Definitely worth the upgrade for that cost. Everything was a better experience other than sound quality, and I enjoy how integrated they are with the console. No fuss. People are right that there are better headsets out there, but these oddly fit my dad lifestyle perfectly.
-
Kinda hoping they will make a Pulse Pro / Platinum.
-
I bought these at launch and I've enjoyed them. I'm not an audiophile, but they sound good to me. They're also pretty comfortable. However, recently I've noticed the material covering the ear cushion has started to separate from the hard plastic bit. I'm very careful with my stuff, so I think it is just a build quality issue. Maybe most people won't have this issue though.
-
I think it's worth the price... for those like me who have limited budget... At that price range you'll only find wired!
-
Like most others are saying, the Sony headset isn’t great. It’s poor plastic build quality, tinny sound, bad internal mic, and an uncomfortable headband design with vinyl on-ear cushions without much swivel. I’d definitely suggest avoiding it and put out a few more bucks for something like the Arctis 7x/7P instead.
The Arctis are a much better headset all around…comfort, build quality, sound quality, microphone, and battery life. They also work with the controller mute button (which Sony’s don’t) and if you get the 7x it works wirelessly with everything including Xbox.
-
Ive heard these use the same hardware as the PS4 gold headsets? I still have my PS4 headset and they work fine on the PS5. Will these have any improvements?
-
Artics 7P+
-
Tried these a while back and while they’re okay, they’re very much not worth the price imho. Then again I usually stick to using my non-gaming centric headphones for my PS5 and on PC.

Who is upvoting ads??

I want a black ps5, makes it bigger than white 🙂

If you're looking for wireless at this price range, this is pretty good value. If you want better quality while still being wireless, gotta pay more.
I'm happy with mine. I've had far better wired headsets for this price, but I can play for hours and these will feel fine. I need to fiddle with the eq though, cause out of the box the bass was pretty lackluster imo.
