- Who buys an individual Wraith Prism cooler for over 50 Euros?
-
A BeQuiet Pure Rock 2 is cheaper than that...
ID: hkbvm78ID: hkc92ljYeah I just switched the prism for bequiet dark rock 4. I really loved the RGB but my rig is sitting atop my monitors and it was just too much noise, given I work on that system 9-10 hrs a day....
ID: hkcn9lbBut the wraith prism has lots of RGB. Even a mirage mode that's I haven't seen in any other cooler. Joking aside, I swapped mine out for a custom loop, but kept my wraith prism fan as a case fan.
ID: hkcoszkYou joke, but I'm pretty sure that's why people actually use it.
ID: hkculhtDamn that pc is nutty
In a good way
-
The cooler is great but definitely not for 53,55
i bought one used for 15 euro, and i used it on my 3600 and now my 5600x and the difference from the stock cooler is huge, especially in noise levels.
and it looks very good...

The wraith prism isnt as bad as people say tbh.
But for 50 bucks its not worth at all.
ID: hkbrhlaEspecially when you can buy that thing often for around 20 bucks or less when you really want that cooler.
ID: hkbwgpkEspecialy when you can buy an amazing Noctua cooler for that 50€ price
ID: hkc7ejtYep, just bought one for $20 for a build I'm putting together for my nephew, it was a competent cooler with RGB, which he likes, and it's doing a great job of cooling the 5600x, although I did also add 6 case fans which probably help lol.
ID: hkc6raiIt's a good cooler, if you get it with your CPU and don't really want to swap it out
Does a good job cooling
ID: hkbwuhuEven for 25 bucks you can find a air cooler that can outperform the Wraith Prism.
ID: hkbyz1uI'd rather buy a second hand D14.
ID: hkc0hp5Or a new fuma 2
-
It’s not just a cooler, it’s a Thermal Solution. $$$
-
Its not 52€.
If a product goes near out of stock, they bump up the prices quite high untill they get another batch of the product. Thats why it says "out of stock", whilst the product is still being sold.

I just noticed this new product in the AMD shop, and I can't help but wonder who would buy that stuff at that price point.
The included AMD stock coolers have a reputation of being... fairly okay for a stock cooler, but if you are serious about building a good PC, you will replace it with a better model anyway. And those better models start at well below 50 Euros. Also, the stock coolers are all top-down coolers, which will never be particularly efficient anyway.
So – who would buy that?
ID: hkbru4iPeople who just want the same thing to replace a damaged or defective cooler and don’t check or don’t care about the price? There probably is a market for it, although I wouldn’t buy at that price point. The one stock cooler I’ve replaced was the lower model, wrath stealth I think, and I went with a 212 evo cause it was cheap and well reviewed. Dropped temps 10 degrees, idle or loaded but was noticeably LOUDER than the stock cooler. Couldn’t prevent that even fiddling with a custom fan curve.
ID: hkbunftmy hyper 212 led isn't loud at all. I can only hear it a bit when it's at full speed
ID: hkc4r6cI have the same and even under heavy it keeps cpu temps super low. Probably the best bang for buck component out there.
ID: hkbzrvgFor a lower end sff build it's not a terrible product, it's a terrible price though
-
I sold 2 in eBay for 40 euros a year ago from my 5600x and 2600x
ID: hkbt3nxThat's crazy. I bought one for 20€ a few years ago.
ID: hkcy7x95600x doesn't come with the (RGB) wraith prism.
ID: hkd5b2zI ziptied mine on a 4690K cause I had no other cooler
ID: hkd8f0eThe 5600x comes with a wraith stealth and the 2600x comes with a wraith spire, neither are wraith prisms nor wraith max that have rgb... and if you got 40 euros each for both, boy did you find a bunch of suckers.
-
I bought it wirh my 1700x back then. It was very cool
-
It is relatively small and compact, and is AMD branded and has RGB lights. I've also watched videos showing the Prism is very capable of getting close to small tower performance on the CPUs usually bundled with a Stealth. Though $50 does seem like a lot for it. At $30-40 it makes more sense if you need something compact.
Also, downdraft coolers tend to have a price premium over tower coolers. Just look at the price of the be quiet! Shadow Rock LP and TF 2, Scythe Big Shuriken 3, Noctua NH-L 12S, Thermaltake Engine 27, and the larger ones like the Dark Rock TF 2 and Noctua NH-C14S. All in the $45 to $85 range. Most of those would be out performed by a cheaper tower cooler.
-
If it's there, believe me, it's because people buys it.
It's amazing when you come here and you see so many people running their cpus with stock coolers (especially the stealth ones which are what zen 2 and 3 gets shipped with).
When all you need is 30/40 eu to buy a decent aftermarket cooler that will do a much better job temperatures and ESPECIALLY noise wise. Those little fucker are so loud too.
-
It's probably for someone looking for something with OEM fitment/looks. There might be something else bette
profile but it might not be as widely known. AMD got a lot of praise for these when they came out so there's probably some demand, even if the pricing isn't great. I imagine they aren't making too many of them since these don't ship with CPUs anymore. -
probably the same person that buys a $20 steam gift card for 34 bucks on amazon.
-
Same people that spent 2000$ on a graphic card to run Fortnite at 60fps on a 1080p monitor
-
it is out of stock
-
why would you even spend money on an AMD stock cooler?
sure, they are a good stock cooler, but if your buying one there are so many better options
-
I remember they sat around $25-$35 used on Mercari a few months ago. They might be a little cheaper now. It’s a nice looking cooler that does fine enough, I would not spend what AMD is asking though.
-
I bought a new One for 20€
-
Desperate times call for desperate measures, I'd guess.
-
It wasn't that much, it used to be below 40
-
You can get these on ebay for $20-$30 or so.
-
Whats the product above the CPU cooler?
ID: hkc2rm26700XT from the price I'd say.
-
Its a decent cooler, especially on zen+, i think someone would only get it if they want a AMD cpu cooler. to go with an older build. I remember a few years ago wanting to replace the stealth varient because it got hot. Prism worked marvelously at the time. 50 euros is quite oof tho
ID: hkbz4ijYes, I thinked about buying this cooler but the price is quite High for what it is and especially when you can buy a noctua cooler for that price
ID: hkc2nzfPeople aren't arguing that the Prism is terrible, it's just purely the pricepoint. For the same price you can buy a U12S Redux, which is a lot better.
-
It's the chip shortage /s.
-
I sold it for like 30 bucks last year, which I used to buy case fans.
-
The Hyper 212 Black edition is $50
-
My friend did, I found it an absolute bitch to install with those springy screw things. If he asked me for a recommendation before hand this certainly wouldn't of been it
-
Not you because it’s out of stock

And much better, as well as a Scythe.
