- GTA: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition | PS4 - PS4 Pro - PS5 | Graphics Comparison & FPS
PS5: Dynamic 4K (1872p common) at 30fps & dynamic 1800p at 60fps (1800p common)
PS4 Pro: Dynamic 1080p (972p common) at 30fps & dynamic 900p at ~50fps (900p common)
PS4: Dynamic 1080p (972p common) at 30fps
- PS5 features better shadows, ambient occlusion, and improved clouds in quality mode. However, reflections get worse in this mode, lagging behind the PS4 versions. It is probably due to a bug.
- PS4 and PS4 Pro lack clouds. PS4 and PS4 Pro performance mode eliminate some highlights.
- Same draw distance on the 3 platforms. It appears to use a similar configuration to the original game, which causes a horrible pop-in. One of the worst I've ever seen.
- Same texturing on all 3 platforms. Some textures are not well applied, causing graphic bugs.
- The game reuses the same animations, physics and AI from the original game.
- Loading times are 3 times faster on PS5.
- The framerate is too unstable. Constant stuttering on PS4 and PS4 Pro Quality. PS4 Pro's Performance mode fails to hit 60FPS with drops of up to 30FPS.
- PS5 also struggles in Performance mode, dropping up to 35fps at night. This is likely due to poor optimization of dynamic lighting.
- The lighting and the improvement of some models is the only thing that stands out in this remastering.
- Unfortunately this is far from being a good job. The performance problems are unjustifiable for a game with such a low-key technical section. They must put more effort into optimizing the Unreal Engine.ID: hk907q7
Wow this isn't even the B team that handled this game. This is straight up from the D team of only 3 college gradsID: hk9b99j
Imagine not being able to hit a stable 60 fps for remasters of PS2 games on the PS4 Pro and even the PS5. This is truly embarrassing.ID: hk8pdkr
Ps5 dropping to 35fps in performance mode while some models look like they were made in 3 minutes by a drunk dev? Yup. Totally worth $60. Great job rockstar lmao. I feel bad for people who paid for this shitID: hk95siy
Reminder this company makes $2million a day from GTA online, $2million a fucking day. This is what they released.ID: hk94jgy
Yeah this is like stupid, why cant it hit native 4k? Its a damn ps2 gameID: hk9e3z1
I don’t get it. They could remake these one at a time and make hundreds of millions at a consistent pace just by out sourcing. Why release a half assed effort of all of them at the same time? I feel like there’s legitimately more money to be made by putting in some effort.ID: hk9bbgk
Insert the typical: it's only $20 per game, it's fair!ID: hk8uj08
I haven't even played it yet and I'm already regretting paying full price. Hopefully they do some updates to fix this shit.ID: hk9m0wo
Yeah i feel bad for myselfID: hkb1e5v
Lmao and people on the nvidia subreddit were arguing why do these games need DLSS at all, they could probably run at 4K on integrated graphics
Never underestimate how unoptimized UE4 games can be made by shitty devs, Blair Witch is another example, it looks like a PS3 game and runs worse than Control with RT on my 3080ID: hk9caci
30fps on ps2 era games with some textures.
Whew lad.ID: hk9730a
I already have the OGs on Steam, PSN (on the PS5), and my PS3 that can do "certain" things.
I wanted to have the GTA5 QOL changes in these games but I'll just stick to the originals then. Fuck Take-Two and Fuck Strauss Zelnick's greedy ass. That dude makes so much off of GTAO shark cards and 2K VC, he can't even get this game straight and have all the music in it?ID: hk94op4
That sounds horrible. Nobody should buy this crap. Sorry, but not sorry.ID: hk9o4lg
Horrible. Nothing more than a sloppy cash grab. Who would have guessed.ID: hkbunqw
No 4k 60fps on PS5 seems wrong. Also the draw distance is one of the features I was mostly interested in and they didn't even work on it?
How the hell do I have to pick between a quality and performance mode for a ps2 game on a ps5.ID: hk9i4m5
LMAOO honestly it’s mind boggling to see 30fps next to a PS2 game that was remastered. I feel like rockstar got the cheapest company that would do this and that was it.
Wow. Framerate is pretty embarrassing. Should be locked 60 at all times on PS5, yet it's consistently mid 40s in the city? Yikes.ID: hka41w5
Was playing San Andreas on Xbox with gamepass and was surprised on how many lag spikes I was getting within the first couple missionsID: hk8ftpf
His frame counter is not accurate at allID: hk8i6vm
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind, try to watch another video later
TL;DR - considering the spec of hardware this is running on, it's fucking garbage.ID: hk8pwl5
Hot garbage that's gonna sell way more copies than it should.ID: hk8q980
That's sadly true. They've probably lost a lot of sales on Xbox though - San Andreas is on GamePass, that's how I've played it today and there's no way in hell I'm dropping cash on it for either system (heck, I grabbed PS Now for half price in the recent offer, don't think I'll even bother downloading GTA 3 when it hits that).ID: hk90mq0
I dunno, all my friends were absolute guaranteed day one buys. None of us pulled the trigger and it looks like none of us will..ID: hk8s046
Lazy cash grab. I won’t touch it. I want GTA6 or a full remake a la FF7.ID: hk8s8ni
Well I got to try San Andreas "for free" on the Series X via GamePass and it looks to be as bad on PS5, so "lazy cash grab" sounds about right.
Was gonna buy it for Vice City, but Rockstar can eat shit for this.
Can this stuff be fixed in a patch? Sorry I don’t know much about the tech side of things but I was planning on getting the physical version next month
Nostalgia almost got the better of me. So glad I decided to not get this prior to its release. Embarrassing remaster package. At this point I can only see it as shameless cash grab
Rockstar used to be my favorite developer but they've ruined their reputation. Even after all the hate this remaster is getting, I don't see them changing any of their practices. Quickly becoming the next EA, Activision or Ubisoft.ID: hk8ju08
At least Ubisoft have been dishing out all their PS5/Series X upgrades for free, and they run a lot better than this does.ID: hkbvdyi
They are owned by Take Two who are the worst videogame company out there. Not even EA or Activision are as bad as them. Also Ubisoft aren't as bad as they used to be on the games side anyway. The staff abuse shit is something they seem to share with the others.
So they couldn’t get 4K 60 on three ~20 year old games?ID: hkcxmz1
Nope, but we'll get that for PS6 🙂
Played a bit of San Andreas on gamepass. Sure it looks a little better but it’s def janky af. Don’t think I’ll be revisiting it much
This game was a mobile game disguised as a console game lmao. There is no reason the PS5 or SX cant run this game Native 4K60 with Ray Tracing. I mean its a ps2 game ported to Unreal lmao. This isnt a full remake!ID: hk94k20
It's just a terrible port. This is happening on a 3070 on PC..ID: hk99d7z
what the fuck, please tell me that's not with DLSS enabled?
Yikes man. Not a good look to have issues with frame rate while running a PS2 game on PS5. Hell, the PS4 should be more than capable of a rock steady frame rate considering what other developers have been able to accomplish on that hardware.ID: hk94emd
Same on PC sadly
Just go and make a good game instead of cash grabbing. Or remake these games properly
The more I read about these games the worse it sounds. What a fucking disaster
Impulse purchased it at 100 aud and (not to my surprise unfortunately) i am extremely disappointed and stopped after 5 mins. The entire thing is so fucking janky, and the audio is terrible and missing so many audio tracks. Like the motorcycles in vice city sound like they're stuck in one gear.
Absolutely abysmal and bare minimum effort. Fuck R*, they're as bad as EA and even worse than Ubisoft.ID: hkahyjk
God damn, it's just so embarrassing. Hope you can get a refund, fu k.ID: hkai7i2
Unfortunately not because I downloaded it 🙁
I hope Rockstar gets the CDPR treatment with this trash release!
Yeah the frame rates on PS5, is probably the biggest reason I didn’t buy today. I know there are other gripes about it. But if I can’t get a locked 60fps in performance. Then I’m not even going to buy it right now. Heard there was a 10gb patch this morning. But I’m guessing that didn’t fix it?
I know there was an article on this collection before it came out. A lot of nervousness around the fact Grove Street Games was doing it. Seems they weren’t wrong to be a bit worried. I’m sure lots of fun can still be had! But the frame drop on PS5 is just really unacceptable! Especially at this price tag, and all the issues I’m seeing. Guess I’ll see if they patch or just abandon the game if it sells a lot.
Going to vote with my wallet on this one and it's an easy miss
I can't believe how Rockstar botched the console release for this. Not sure how the games run on PC, but having performance issues for a game that came out 20 years ago with fairly minor graphical upgrades on next gen consoles is inexcusable. Rockstar has literally unlimited funds, there is absolutely no excuse here. Really glad I didn't pre order it. Hopefully they release some patches that fix these performance issues.
