for me i really like the rachet and clank game i think the colors and levels are even better then the last game that came out for the ps4 and i think the series can be remade for the ps5
-
Probably Demon Souls. The PS5 upgrades for FF7R and Control are excellent tho
ID: hkq9q9aID: hkqktjbDude. Control is a top 5 game of all time for me... Absolutely loved it's reveling in the completely bonkers narrative. The Ashtray maze is one of the coolest things I've ever experienced in any game. Agreed. Playing this at 60fps with adaptive triggers is the best way to play... Plus the games not freezing for 2 seconds everytime you open the map was nice..haha
ID: hkprjjnDemon souls needs to go on sale so I can get it!
ID: hkpx09iUsed copies can be had for around $35

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Astro's Playroom
ID: hkourz2Definitely the funnest platinum trophy to get. The game is an absolute joy
ID: hkqc0dfI thought the time trials were the perfect level of difficulty. Hard but doable.
ID: hkqiy41I'm your GPU, G P UUUUUU
ID: hkpouitNEED a full game of Astro. The VR one is fantastic too.
ID: hkp6y41Definitely the same for me too. I always tend to love the little packaged games that come with new consoles, but this one was on an entirely different level.
Sorry, Viva Pinata.
ID: hkprltpViva Pinata was awesome. Had that love/innovation from the 90s.
ID: hkqg40lIt's easily the fullest experience on the PS5 still, nothing else feels like it's utilizing every aspect of the controller like it does
ID: hkqjcb1astro is way too cute, im a grown man and I frequently turn him around to face the screen and I never get tired of seeing him wave hello to me.

Ratchet and Clank

Returnal has been my fav so far, very unexpectedly
ID: hkp6terReturnal is the best video game i played in a while that's just a "video game" you know? No bullshit just shooting aliens and getting better.
ID: hkp9zgoIt felt like an 80s or 90s arcade game, made with 2021 technology. It was just so fun gameplay wise, and it even had a somewhat good story to go with it.
ID: hkpm5wcIt really brought the arcade vibes into a AAA product, just so incredibly fun.
ID: hkq1jhxReturnal is EASILY my favorite this year and honestly one of my fav of all time
ID: hkpdslqSame for me. An old school game with new generation graphics. Top

Disco Elysium.
I’m in my 30s now. Some things are just not appealing to me anymore. I want a good story and I got a hell of a story with this.
The mechanics in this adventure are unlike any I’ve ever come across. This is a must buy for the mature audience.
Edit: For those of you curious about it, go in it blind. Don't save and reload to pass checks. Failing checks is more fun then passing. The protagonist has 24 parts of his brain all talking to you. Each brings a unique flavor to your personality. Part of the fun is trying to figure these 24 voices out.
ID: hkozy7vIt's got that old OLD school RPG vibe much like Baldur's gate or Icewind dale. A role playing game that focuses on a unique narrative set in a unique world with a unique setup. It's one of the few games that have your failed actions count toward something. And the latest version is fully voice acted (which is nice). ~Revachol Forever~
ID: hkqsqmkDisco Elysium was just such a cohesive and fully realized vision, it's hard to imagine it was the studio's first game. I get the feeling the core team had been writing and tinkering with the storyline and concepts for like 10 years before ever beginning development.
I just wish we had more games with that level of writing and creativity.
ID: hkpumu2Disco Elysium is probably the best game I've ever played and I've been gaming for a long time.

Demon's souls

Ratchet and clank
-
Kena Bridge of Spirits
ID: hkpu9fwYep, another vote from me. The world they've created with this game is brilliant and for £35, it's a absolute bargain.
ID: hkpy9hfI'm starting this tomorrow after I finish Little Nightmares II tonight.

Miles Morales is still my favorite up to this point
ID: hkpheauI second this. Both of the Spider-Man games have been amazing
ID: hkp3v13Yup, that one and the Spiderman remaster
-
Returnal was a very nice surprise and has been my favorite game cause of gameplay and the way it uses the dualsense.
-
Sackboy: A Big Adventure
-
Deathloop, it is tons of fun plus secretly adding online multiplayer was a huge bonus!
ID: hkpudihI don’t think it was a secret.. it was explained in depth before the game came out. It was one of the main reasons I bought the game

Returnal
-
Wow can’t believe no one said Ghost of Tsushima. Straight fire. Directors cut
ID: hkp050pCame here to say this. Graphics are amazing and the storyline has been good so far.

I will say this: PS5 has absolutely reignited my love of gaming. It’s kind of hard to even pick a favorite.
I’m 39, so I’ve been gaming a long time and I’ve beaten more games this year than I ever have in a year. I got my ps5 on launch date and since then I’ve beaten
I’ve beaten Immortals: Fenyx Rising, Astro’s playroom, Spider-Man miles morales, last of us part 2, resident evil 3 remake, resident evil village, tony hawk 1+2, ratchet and clank, deathloop, hades, maneater, watchdog legions, plague tale: innocence, devil may cry 5, and then some switch games like Mario odyssey, skyward sword, cadence of hyrule. I’m probably missing some on both systems
I also spent significant time on AC: Valhalla, Demons Souls, Returnal, mlb the show 21, NBA 2k21, bugsnax and resident evil 0 (obviously a backlog but triggered by loving village).
And I tried, but didn’t really like: Avengers, yakuza like a dragon, subnautica, sackboy, oddworld: soul storm
And I’m currently playing FF7 remake. When I finish that I am likely going to go back and finish demons souls, returnal, and resident evil 0. Not sure I will ever put in the time to finish Valhalla tbh. It’s just so long.
Having said all that… I think my top 3 are probably RE village, Deathloop, and Returnal. Possibly in that order.
If they had a category for most underrated game of the year, I’d pick Immortals Fenyx Rising.
-
I actually quite liked Deathloop, not seeing much love for it on here, though.
-
Demon’s Souls
-
Ratchet and clank rift apart for sure, most fun game in the series imho, although the story doesn’t quite capture the same appeal as the original ps2 trilogy sadly
-
Returnal without a doubt
ID: hkovgorAlot of people have said returnal I have to play it
-
Definitely Ratchet & Clank, it was the game last year I saw that definitely sold me on wanting to get a PS5 to play

Seconding the vouch for Control! Very fun and a solid next gen update!
