‘Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker’ Is The Highest Scored Game On Metacritic By Users In 2021
2 : Anonymous2021/12/11 22:17 ID: ho68z8p

I don’t know how people are getting in to play…..every damn time I log in i have queues of 4000 plus people……

ID: ho69lgb

The secret is to never log out apparently.

ID: ho6dqt8

Early AM is the key. No queue at all.

ID: ho6dv49

This. I can’t play at night but my mornings are free and I get in immediately.

ID: ho8k2el

Yeah my queue at around 8am cst is only about 40 people. Before that probably nothing.

I wake up for work at 4:30 so on days off I get up around 8 and can just get right on.

ID: ho78l8s

930-10pm is very fine for me too

ID: ho79wyt

I came here just to say that. Wait in line 1 hour, get kick by error 2002, come back and get further down the line. Close your computer, tell your boyfriend to never let you pay for this game ever again.

ID: ho7qy7a

They wait in queue. I know I do. It's a bummer, but once you're in, you're in.

ID: ho97bgn

Remote login to your desktop or PS5 if your at work during day and login and by the time your home you will be good

ID: ho6akg2

That has been my experience as well. I just started to play FF14 six weeks ago or so, and have just been grinding it out here and there when I have some free time. I just started Stormblood when Endwalker dropped, and I've only been able to log in late at night for an hour or two since then because any other time I've tried I hit a 3000+ person queue that takes 2-3 hours to pop (and that's if you don't get dc's due to their login issues..).

Good on SE/FF14 for the success, but I've just shelved the game and canceled my sub for the time being, and I'll come back in a few months when I can hopefully log in.

ID: ho83klo

Anti afk. I have a free trial account and can never get in, so I just set it to move occasionally. Otherwise I'll never be able to log in.

Basically you can set rubber bands around the knobs so you just run circles. I mean, I hate to do it but I wouldn't be able to play otherwise

3 : Anonymous2021/12/11 22:25 ID: ho6a3gs

And all you need to do to play it is wait in a 2-4 hour queue to log in!

ID: ho97ft6

Worth noting that if you have a free account you have to wait until all subs get logged in first

ID: ho6dma0

And the base game. And expansion. And a sub

ID: ho6gat6

The base game and previous expansions come with Endwalker I believe, but you're right about the sub.

4 : Anonymous2021/12/12 03:51 ID: ho7ezur

Rightfully so. I finished msq yesterday and it was fucking amazing!

5 : Anonymous2021/12/11 21:32 ID: ho633nj

It's also a 94 on opencritic, anyone that played it, is it really that good?

ID: ho65ktz

Beat it Monday. It's really fucking good.

Definitely matches/tops shadowbringers. Only real issue was pacing in some spots but I think it's near impossible to have perfect pacing in a mmo. Bosses were grand, the story it told was fantastic and it was a great way to end the current saga

ID: ho68zjk

Almost at the end, and the beginning definitely slogs more than SHB, but man once it gets going it's hard to put down. The queues and my available play time have forced me to pace myself.

ID: ho7xqp4

How do you beat an mmo? Do you mean you beat the main story quest?

ID: ho6626g

The devs love their community unlike blizzard or amazon games so there's that.

ID: ho66aae

Does Amazon games even have a community

ID: ho89me8

Absolutely. It's amazing the support they give the fans and the community. It's night and day. I've only played the trial but I've enjoyed what I've played.

The only other MMO I have played is WoW and Blizzard in their current expansion have only had one major patch in the full year it has been out with only one more planned. Pitiful. Yes I get the company is going through a lot of stuff but every expansion has been less and less content. It's a theme that has been going on for years. They ignored the fans to the point where they put in zero effort and thought the fan base would just accept it. Well, not anymore. Everyone migrated to FF14 (including all the popular Twitch and WoW Youtubers) and now, said FF14 is the true #1 King. And I'm so happy for them. Be treated the way you would want to be treated and you will get rewarded. And Square Enix did.

ID: ho7z5yq

Endwalker made final fantasy xiv the best final fantasy game ever made (also possibly best mmo and one of the best jrpgs)

ID: ho7cnbt

It has notable pacing issues and there are some new quest gimmicks added (escort and follow quest types) that blow ass.. but the dungeons are all amazing, the new classes are both great and the story does a great job of wrapping up a ~10 year plotline. Mid 90s sounds about right tbh. Not perfect but still excellent.

ID: ho8esp1

It's a shame that the pacing issues still weren't solved. I thought the lvl86 - 87 questlines in particular were particularly aggregious. I get the premise they were going for, but that section really overstayed it's welcome for me, I had a really hard time going through them.

ID: ho636ji

For what i've seen, it's probably the best MMORPG you can play right now.

ID: ho63ibt

Interesting, I might have to check it out

ID: ho67j8o

It's also a 94 on opencritic

Only 7 reviews (2 of them do not have a score), so not really representative.

ID: ho83qt0

FF14 is pretty well represented as being the best goddamn mmo on the market right now. I've been playing both WoW(lol hurr durr)since vanilla and ARR since the 2.0 relaunch and it really is an amazing game. Judging FF14 by that limited metric is like saying "oh my brother and his friends say pokemon is bad so it must not be good"

FF14 is represented across all of social media, youtube, reddit, pretty much the entire internet as being not only awesome but having a dev team that is wholesome as fuck. Do you know LaHee? The fan fest 2021? While blizz was bleeding the creepy sex offender old guard The FF14 devs were busting their ass and the composer struggled with health issues over covid, embraced community memes, I mean the list goes on and on. If you've tried and don't like it, thats fine, but there is no honest way to argue that the game isnt well made and engrossing, and one of the only games worth the sub price. Comments in this sub about MUH SUB PRICE? How many of these fuckers have shelled out $$ for battle pass insert game here/season pass/cosmetics lmao

ID: ho7ydbf

best game ever made for me personally

however that does rely on all the previous content they put out building up to this

its like if the last Harry Potter movie was your fave, you cant just have someone jump in at the final movie and expect them to feel the same way

6 : Anonymous2021/12/12 06:21 ID: ho7v8vg

Maybe I’m just dumb, but I’m almost through ARR and I don’t really have any clue what’s going on. I have the basic idea, but the patch quests just kinda confused me

ID: ho8augv

The game becomes a lot more focused once you get past ARR. The end of ARR is pretty plot critical, I think it all clears up. Keep at it, it's only uphill from here !

ID: hoasuk1

I'm nearing the end of ARR (around patch 2.5 I think) and it's seriously been a slog. I recognize why people enjoy it but I'm feeling like it's probably not for me. Not a fan of how the story is delivered through long dialogue or cutscenes. I feel like one thing WoW does well is get the meat of the story across while you're playing the game and not just through cutscenes and dialogue/quest text. I'm holding out for the Heavensward MSQ's before calling it quits. Hoping HW is better paced.

7 : Anonymous2021/12/11 23:18 ID: ho6h477

I would be all over this if it wasn’t for the monthly sub.

ID: ho8wkr5

Tbf, this used to be a barrier for me as well until I realized how much I end up spending on frivolous stuff in any given month, and then realized it's basically nothing by comparison.

I went through a fast food drive through last week, ordered a medium combo, and the thing came up to $12 or something ridiculous. Not to mention morning coffees and such.

Realizing all that, a monthly sub makes for a paltry ask for a continuous game that's easily dozens of hours of entertainment per month and supported so well by the devs.

ID: ho9w87s

That’s how I justify my spending too lol.

Oooo.. $60 game? Hmmm. I’ll think about it for another month. That’s a solid hit to the ol wallet.

Girlfriend: wanna go get some dinner tonight? Sure! $80 later.

ID: ho6qo7e

I am confused, is this the game with $14 per month subscription?

ID: ho6v36e

There are two tiers, $12 for one character per server and $15 for unlimited. You don't really need more than one character though.

8 : Anonymous2021/12/12 01:11 ID: ho6vpmr

Things like expansion packs often get very high ratings because the only people rating them are those that already liked the base game.

ID: ho8p608

Especially in an mmo. I've played through the story. It's good, but not even close to a 90+ game. People blow the story in ffxiv way out of proportion.

9 : Anonymous2021/12/12 02:16 ID: ho73p3v

I’m really looking forward to hopping back in, but I can give it a couple of weeks for the queues to chill.

10 : Anonymous2021/12/12 09:45 ID: ho8at28

How do you keep up with the cutscenes with other players waiting on you?

Does everyone wait on you if you're watching it?

Or do you have to skip everything and miss the story?

ID: ho8f9p0

So everyone has to wait in an instance for the cutscene to finish. Typically most hold everyone at the start of a boss or raid. I think there was one dungeon that has a ton of cutscenes that people can go ahead of you for one part. You should have no issues watching everything that you’d like to

11 : Anonymous2021/12/12 03:52 ID: ho7f7ia

Yoshi P suffering from success.

12 : Anonymous2021/12/12 03:06 ID: ho79qs2

I'm not gonna lie, the game is great it's hard to get through certain points of the story (especially ARR) and I end up finding myself just skipping through it to do more exciting stuff like extreme trials or raids with friends.

I think the game is great and I'm having fun combat owns and the classes I've played are fun to master but often follow similar mechanics. I'd say that I'm only enjoying it cause I'm familiar with using add-ons to enhance my experience (the base experience and UI is quite terrible, but that's the case for 90% of MMOs alas) and very familiar with other triple A MMOs so I know what to expect, but I also am less on the casual side of things compared to the average consumer

My biggest issue with this game is the absurd cost, you have to buy the game, then buy endwalker, and buy a sub. I know there is a "complete edition" but it literally saves you no money just saves you a headache of doing multiple purchases. It'll also take you like 200 hours just to reach the good stuff which is a big turn down for a lot of people.

Also I'm blessed to have skilled friends who wanted to start fresh with me recently but we all agreed that if we were to start the game alone we probably wouldn't be playing anymore.

13 : Anonymous2021/12/12 03:10 ID: ho7a4m7

Deserved, no other rpg game comes even close this year. Be it single player or multiplayer. Maybe nier replicant but it's a remaster.

14 : Anonymous2021/12/12 05:14 ID: ho7of90

Great, so...when is more Final Fantasy 16 news coming?

15 : Anonymous2021/12/11 22:52 ID: ho6dpva

User scores literally mean nothing. Gamers are a fickle group and often use the User Scores as a way to express themselves dramatically. "I haven't played the game yet. But I'm mad because some YouTuber made a video telling me the game is trash. 0".

ID: ho6u1zr

Powerful stuff

17 : Anonymous2021/12/12 07:19 ID: ho8020n

this game is full fedex quets, voiced fedex quests are still fedex.

go here, loot this, come back here, kill this, rince and repeat, boring as fuck.

18 : Anonymous2021/12/12 12:19 ID: ho8lvk4

I've never played a final fantasy game so to anyone who has is this a good one to start on story and gameplay wise

19 : Anonymous2021/12/12 17:45 ID: ho9s3vy

Go play FF7 Remake

20 : Anonymous2021/12/12 18:54 ID: hoa2vwm

I'd say no. As an MMO it's not particularly representative of the series as a whole, because most of the others are single player.

Also the story of the base game isn't really that great. The expansions are much better, but you have to play through the base game to get to them. So there's quite a big time investment needed to get to the good stuff.

If you're interested in playing an FF game it's probably better to start with a single player one that's more self contained.

21 : Anonymous2021/12/12 16:18 ID: ho9f0lj

I’ve never really been an mmo/live service person. Should I still give this a try for the main story content?

22 : Anonymous2021/12/12 16:29 ID: ho9goup

You can play all of the base game and the first expansion for free. That’s a ton of content to test the waters.

23 : Anonymous2021/12/12 16:58 ID: ho9kwft

That's the reason the many people are there. Main game content (A Realm Reborn) has a lot of world building so bear with it, doesn't really start kicking off until the first expansion. You can just stop playing after the story is over.

24 : Anonymous2021/12/12 20:14 ID: hoaf6ji

Good, FFXIV is a well polished game, kudo to Yoshi P to revive a dying game (original FFXIV) into the game as it stand today.

Just shame MMO is not really my thing anymore.

25 : Anonymous2021/12/12 01:58 ID: ho71i1w

Literally face roll 99% of content. I don’t get how the game is fun.

26 : Anonymous2021/12/12 04:17 ID: ho7i2li

U sound like that infamous twitch flamer KEKW

27 : Anonymous2021/12/12 21:04 ID: hoamnvc

Go and do savage raids then
