Sony filed a patent application, which has now been published - as a WIPO publication.

This is not a patent in any country.

I wish sites like gamerant would get that distinction.

ID: ho5qnvz

It’s not even a fair interpretation - it’s a false headline.

ID: ho5vbqc

I really don’t believe that “reporters” from sites like gamerant actually know the difference.

ID: ho5sqk8

Yeah most of those thread is just people reading the headline and coming up with their own conclusions

ID: ho6dgha

Gamerant is such a trash.

ID: ho6ju4q

As are other similar sites.

As always Sony filing a patent application doesnt mean anything or that anything will be implemented. It just means some engineers at Sony had an idea for something. The large majority of the time nothing happens

ID: ho5lenv

I remember when they patented a type of TV commercial where, in order to make the commercial end, the viewer would need to stand up and chant the name of the advertiser. So if you saw a commercial for McDonald’s, you would need to get up off your couch and shout McDonald’s for the commercial to end.

And the Bloodborne fan inside me hopes that Sony is only patenting these things so that other more malicious companies can’t use the ideas.

Black mirror?

ID: ho87cx4

Patents only last for like 20 years. There's still hope!

ID: ho5u6ji

That’s some indoctrination nazi Shit right there

4 : Anonymous2021/12/11 19:35 ID: ho5n9gv

All they need to do is let it play R6 Siege for an hour and they’ll have all the training this system will need.

5 : Anonymous2021/12/12 10:17 ID: ho8d2do

Sony patents don’t mean anything. At best we get a stability update…

6 : Anonymous2021/12/11 19:15 ID: ho5kfs9

Wings of Redemption would LOVE this feature!

ID: ho5ksf1

He'll find a way to complain about it

ID: ho5lhkq

Look here, listen.

ID: ho64agy

Ban anybody that knows what you said

ID: ho697c9

Thats a sneak diss.

ID: ho5neub

haven’t heard that name in a minute lmao

ID: ho927gd

Oh my lorr

7 : Anonymous2021/12/12 01:58 ID: ho71e1o

What does this mean? Is this for cheaters or just players being assholes?

ID: ho8lcb6

It’s for example when someone intentionally throws a match by playing very poorly, idling etc

Honestly I don’t think such a system will ever be implemented because it would cause a shit ton of false positives, it’s very difficult to separate people who are just very bad at the game from people who deliberately throw a match

8 : Anonymous2021/12/11 22:18 ID: ho696y5

what about a patent for an automated system to detect scalpers from ruining ps5 from everyone?

ID: hoadbfd

How about ebay and facebook just outright ban playstation 5 and series x listings? Would slap a lot of scalpers in the face and scare off plenty of future ones. I know its not foolproof, but it would get consoles into more hands

9 : Anonymous2021/12/11 20:02 ID: ho5quos

In my experience, autoban system always manage to ban innocent players at the same time.

While they can appeal and reverse, it cause frustration to innocent players.

This may not end up well.

ID: ho5sj9k

Its not an auto ban system

ID: ho5tf2m

Oh I thought it will detect trolls and distruptive players and ban them at the same time.

So it is only identifying and is down to human admin to do the ban? If that is the case it is pretty good.

10 : Anonymous2021/12/11 18:50 ID: ho5gvof

Oh great. More automated permanent bans which PlayStation support "can't reverse" and "can't do anything about"

ID: ho5nxdx

The patent doesnt say anything about banning players. Its more about dispersing disruptive players than anything else

The system's demographic data can also be used for automated matchmaking, too, by calculating the potential for disruptive behavior based on the players in a match. By doing so, the matchmaking system could then potentially disperse disruptive players in a way that minimizes the possibility of disruptive events.

ID: ho5uca6

Lol matchmaking on being an asshole. That’s based

11 : Anonymous2021/12/11 18:57 ID: ho5hxjd

Yeah, after going through facebooks absurd AI moderations system of BS, I don’t encourage this.

12 : Anonymous2021/12/11 19:21 ID: ho5lb2o

If there is an automatic ban then they better make sure it is not permanent because you can't rely on playstation customer service to reverse it if it was a mistake.

13 : Anonymous2021/12/11 20:10 ID: ho5s2l8

Oh fuck

14 : Anonymous2021/12/12 15:06 ID: ho94taz

“Banned? But I really am that bad at shooters!”

15 : Anonymous2021/12/12 08:53 ID: ho874un

Yet another worrying patent from Sony, trying to psychoanalyze the players.

ID: ho8k782

Sony has like a thousand patents they hardly use em

ID: ho8keka

Indeed but intent matters.

16 : Anonymous2021/12/12 08:50 ID: ho86xut

Ah shit.

17 : Anonymous2021/12/12 19:11 ID: hoa5lyx

This is the Chinese social credit system built into games...

18 : Anonymous2021/12/12 07:59 ID: ho835v6

What we actually need right now is an automated system to detect citizens that must pick up that can.

19 : Anonymous2021/12/12 13:21 ID: ho8rj03

Great if it works... awful if when it starts booting off innocent players.
