- Splinter Cell Remake Begins Development at Ubisoft Toronto
-
Only Ubisoft would randomly just drop they are remaking one of their most beloved franchises on the internet.
ID: hooj48eID: hooqhdkAnd people are falling for it.
ID: hop1w4xWait what happened
ID: hoos416Internet forgets shit fast lmao
-
See you in 3 years
ID: hooa8ziIf we’re lucky
-
I guess doing a remake narrows the scope, so maybe we won’t get that open world splinter cell game everyone has been afraid of
Edit: Quote from Matt West: So, as we're building it from the ground up, we're going to update it visually, as well as some of the design elements to match player comfort and expectations, and we are going to keep it linear like the original games, not make it open world.
-
Please don't make this a Ubisoft game, Ubisoft. You know exactly what I mean!
ID: hoo5t2bIt's not gonna be open world, so good start
ID: hop1vj7So true
ID: hopa9jkIt’s a remake right
ID: hopag0zBut is it a Demon's Souls kinda remake or a Resi 3 kinda remake?
ID: hopiq4aThey're for sure gonna try pulling something to cash in on nostalgia, and you better believe it'll be more NFT's. Can't have a AAA game without some bleeding edge, innovative corporate meddling.
-
Give it to bluepoint
-
Don't announce things before they're ready to be shown. This could easily get cancelled with the shit state that UBIsoft is in and this is clear clout chasing after being destroyed over the NFT stuff.
-
Remake of the first game, won’t be an open world title.
ID: hoogddfOpen world remake
ID: hooz9xaIt isn’t, please read the article.
-
My hopes are not high in anyway, I don't think it's possible to make a AAA purely stealth game anymore it doesn't get enough sales as a genre to be worth the outlay , what we'll get is some weird openworld splinter cell built off the bones of GR:Breakpoint with more focus on gunplay than the expected slow and steady style of old splinter cell
ID: hopb6euNope, it’s a remake of the first. Still linear just modernized
-
Yeah this has my interest
-
omfg this was like the best game when it came out, so excited for remake
-
Happy this is getting done, disappointed they are only just starting, the wait is gonna be a while
-
Whatever this game comes out as, fresh and new or the typical Ubisoft live service, open world, tons of map markers, towers to climb, content road map that could be pushed.
But, as long as the culture at these studios is non-toxic, employees are burning out from crunch and there is a zero sexual harassment policy, I'm all for them making the game they want.
-
Damn, hell yesssss
-
Fucking finallllllyyyyy
-
As long as they don't give it to Pune, India. Like the PoP remake.
-
Hopefully they make a good Splinter Cell, but I have a feeling they will push stupid social agendas in it, micro-transactions and all that bs.
ID: hopbbrvLumping social agendas in with mtx and calling it bs is the real bs
-
Show footage or kick rocks. I'm happy to hear they still give a hoot about this franchise but this is not the way to announce it. Don't hype shit you've barely started working on. This is 2-3 years out minimum (hopefully).
ID: hopbzv0Jeez no satisfying some people. I’m happy to hear that it’s being worked on and I don’t have to wonder if it’s even happening anymore.
-
The best part is it will stay linear. Hope it turns out well.
-
Ubi Toronto usually does what?
-
Should be good to play by 2030.
-
This is kind of underwhelming? I've been waiting for a new Splinter Cell since 2013 like everyone else, but something about this feels... wrong?
ID: hopbh45Not to me, the direction they were going after the last game was fine with me but it wasn’t really Splinter Cell. This brings it back to its roots which is what I personally really wanted
ID: hopcl1kOh no, I wasn't talking about remaking the original game. I'm fine with that. I was referring to the circumstances in which they decided to announce this, which are kinda weird.
-
Remakes are getting real annoying. Let's just release a game and not update anything. Mainly for me it's the controls. The GTA 3 remake has shit controls. Mario 64 remake has it feel like you still have to use the 64 controller.
ID: hopbmwmThey stated they’re modernizing controls and visuals
ID: hopdbthYou're confusing remakes and remasters. They are very different things and neither GTA3 or Mario 64 are remakes.
-
This game is going to be amazing!
....3 years after updates
-
Why dont they just reboot the series?
ID: hop3e43They did that with AC and now they are unrecognizable.
ID: hopbqfwBlacklist was sort of a soft reboot
-
Fuckingggggg finallyyyyyyyy!
-
So doesn’t this mean the new SC game won’t be about for another 5 or 6 years? Like, don’t you announce a remake because your follow up game is in development hell? Because you wouldn’t put a remake out so close to a new game’s release window.

That’s just not true. I’m inclined to believe you never even played Prince of Persia if that’s what you think. Also, you get a significantly lower score if you just Rambo around and on the higher difficulties it’s way tougher to survive a gunfight

Basically to cover the backlash from NFT
