Was this game good? I was super interested and then I totally forgot about it. I’m between this and Tales of Arise.
ID: honwugkID: hoow421It’s pretty good. A bit nonsensical. Without spoiling anything, every five seconds is something that would be a major twist in another show or game, and that absurd oneupmanship undercuts the entire plot. It’s so ridiculous that it borders on parody. There are so many revelations that are never meaningfully expanded upon, and it doesn’t take long for you to stop caring because you just know it won’t take long for the plot to discard the latest thing in favor of something else
Gameplay’s great, but you really need to give it the time to develop. Imo, they went a little too far in under powering you so they can overpower you later, but once it’s firing on all cylinders, it’s really fun. The game never stops giving you things to play with or new enemies to play against. It does the JRPG thing with enemy variants too, but said variants can behave quite a bit differently from each other. Overall, though, I would recommend it over Arise.
ID: hoox25jOooh love all that. Love that feeling of going from level 1 noob to god mode.
ID: honrfxcIt's a fun game, but its main flaw is outstaying its welcome. During the game there are lots of conversations that seem to go on longer after having made their point. And the last chapte
is needlessly long. Combat is lots of fun though, and later on when there are more powers available, you can invent some neat combat styles.ID: hoo6lv2Some of these apply to Tales of Arise too. The story starts out well but by the end it becomes a convoluted mess with pacing issues and lots of dialogue. Tales combat though fun is nothing to write home about and Scarlet Nexus is more unique.
ID: honqub4It was great for me. Literally only part I was meh about was the extremely long ending scenario but it’s not that uncommon with jrpgs.
ID: honr22lIt’s as if DMC and a traditional turn based RPG had a baby.
ID: honrxtsThat… sounds dope. How is this turn based? It doesn’t look like it.
ID: hoo1e2fI’d recommend it over tales. The story is garbage though, but I got through it because I found the combat fun. Tales on the other hand…. giant disappointment for me

The demo turned me off on this game. It seems you need to learn a lot of stuff in the first 10 minutes
It didn't help that I was deep into Nioh 2 at the time.
ID: hoo1rjbAfter playing Nioh 2, most games feel basic.
ID: hoob06eThe demo for Tales of Arise did the same thing. They threw the full combat system at the player without any guidance.
Both this game and Tales did do a good job of only adding single combat mechanisms at a time to let the player figure it out. I'd say the actual game experience is way more approachable.
That said, I put the game down for two months, picked it back up again, and am completely lost on the controls.

I’m sorry did they just add a bloody palace mode? Omfg that’s what i wanted from the beginning! Going to grant to come back to this in full soon lol. Such a great game, and the dlc is miles better than tales of arise…

Tales of Arise is the better game. I got the 100% in both. Scarlet Nexus is good though. If you're a fan of JRPGs, pick up both. Scarlet Nexus was made by people who use to work on the Tales team so there are similarities.
