Can’t get it out of my head after finishing the game.

I stopped playing the game (after 140h) a few months back but I can't get it out of my head. It is very strange, never had this with any other game. It is like that world is calling me back and today I'm installing it again. I made a few posts about it a while back in here about how it's the best game I have ever played and how much the story sucked me in emotionally. Any of you had something similar after finishing the game, just want to go back there do some deliveries, and just hang around?

Kojima knew he didn't need to connect a trophy to getting 500/ LoLoL. We would all have Porter Syndrome by the end.

Dude, this is nuts. I think that’s the point. We’re all MULES. Remember when Diehard man explained them?

I do indeed. I've beaten the game 5 times now and read the books. They got their hooks deep in me.

Yuuuup. I intended to pack the game away for at least a year after getting 540LLLs and platinum on the Director’s Cut and playing it on and off for like, 1.5 years. But then I was just having a bum day and missed that familiarity and relentless encouragement everyone in the game is. I tend to just putter around on weekends, returning folks’ lost cargo and fixing roads and structures.

I'm about to do the same. I'm trying to postpone the inevitable moment when I'll have the platinum trophy... A bit like delaying the moment when you approach the final pages of a Russian novel by Dostoyevski or Tolstoi, because you know that the pleasure and angst will be over after "the end" is written in a page.

It's a game where just existing is enough

I've only played this game once. I just can't replay it. It has such an emotional impact on me but it's weird. I love it so much that I can't play it again. I've not done a lot of the standard orders unlike a lot of people here. The story just hit me so hard. The theme of the game which revolves around loneliness and uniting people. The whole "rope and stick" schematic, EVERYTHING was so beautifully executed.

I'll play it once again with a friend once the director's cut comes out on PC fosho.

I think my love for this game stems from the fact that I can relate with Sam all through. [Endgame spoiler] When Sam tells Fragile "Everything I touch, I lose" , I balled my eyes off. Coz I fuckin felt that.

Yeah, same here. Cant play the story again. Got to me too much (in a very good way.)

Borrowed a friends PS4 to play it when it came out. Managed to snag a PS5 last year. Just beat it again on the director's cut a couple weeks ago and am working on getting the last couple trophies. I have a feeling I'll be delivering until a new Death Stranding game comes out. We all become M.U.L.E.S in the end.

You’re becoming a MULE 🙂

8 : Anonymous2022/01/12 13:53 ID: hscizbr

This game has that effect. I played the first version, traded it in and wished I hadn't. I've finished this version a few weeks ago but I know I will play it again

Weirdly addicting isn't it? That's why I'm in the thick of my 4th playthrough.

This game ruined playing any other game for me for a few weeks after finishing it. Everything else felt unpolished and lacking in story. It really is a great game.

Incredible game.

12 : Anonymous2022/01/12 15:18 ID: hscuru4

Same, i ve got to 100% with about 150 hours. For sure my favorite game of all time. I really hope we'll get a sequence

It’s time to watch Evangelion

Yeah I get Evangelion vibes from the game too. Must be the apocalyptic themes

Sometimes I went to bed and couldn't help thinking about new strategies for deliveries, how to avoid EPs, etc. I got a couple of nightmares with EPs, too. Nothing too frightening but still strange. Overall a magnificent piece of art in the form of a videogame.

I finished day before yesterday, and yup. Yesterday I went and visited a few of my favorite peppers including checking in on Elder, and rebuilt two of the last three segments heading north from Mountain Knot.

Definitely got under my skin. I won't be able to play today, but I want to finish the pizza quests tomorrow when I get a chance.

I had dreams about how I play this amazing game!

17 : Anonymous2022/01/12 16:55 ID: hsd9qgr

Agreed. It took me 111 hours to get the platinum and I still love playing it. It's such a fantastic game.

18 : Anonymous2022/01/12 17:05 ID: hsdbgcd

Anyone got suggestions for stuff to do when going back? I reinstalled it a while back and drove around repairing structures and just using the highway to make deliveries, but I'm wondering if anyone has ideas for additional tasks to do, maybe some challenges? I could go for achievements but that's not a high priority for me.

Ill never get over how it felt to run around in the snow by deadmans casa in the mountains, just peace and quiet and tranquillity , I miss it all the time. Or the feeling when one of the songs comes on while on a job, it all felt so special.

20 : Anonymous2022/01/12 20:54 ID: hsec538

I played about 101 hours before completing after launch. Boy, I was ruined when I was done.

21 : Anonymous2022/01/12 21:20 ID: hsegh5r

SOMA has stayed with me. My god that game was amazing.

DS has stayed with me even now because the story was (is) so engaging. The freedom of movement and the fact the game is never really over just keeps me coming back for more.

22 : Anonymous2022/01/12 17:12 ID: hsdcl5t

I’m even done with excuses now—I’ll just walk around for hours because that’s all I want from this game

23 : Anonymous2022/01/12 21:27 ID: hsehmwz

I didn't expect to play it again after getting the Platinum on PS5. Even more so because I already beat it previously on PS4. There's something about the game that I just enjoy to no end. I wish the Eastern Region was a bit larger because that's where I like the aesthetic the most but overall, I too was sucked in far more than I ever expected.

Death Stranding is a very rare video game that should have been a movie or a miniseries )or a novel which we did get and i have heard its very good). The story and the world is phenomenal and I hope one day we will get a proper, Kojima directed movie/tvshow adaptation of the game.

The game is just so goddam interesting.
