IIRC it was a marketing problem/misuse of words or something so they kind of had to do the free version legally.

Hmm, I was debating whether or not to preorder at $70, but it's tempting at $60 knowing the upgrade is available for free.

I only cared about the past story line in Horizon 1, the whole story set in it's current time period/tribes was incredibly boring to me. I just wanted more juicy details about the fall of civilization that brought us to that point.

Doesn’t really bother me. The story in Horizon was always trash, and it was the gameplay that I cared about.
