“I’ll just say to players out there who are playing Activision Blizzard games on Sony’s platform: It’s not our intent to pull communities away from that platform and we remained committed to that,” Spencer said in an interview.

“I’ll just say to players out there who are playing Activision Blizzard games on Sony’s platform: It’s not our intent to pull communities away from that platform and we remained committed to that,” Spencer said in an interview.

"It's not my intention but it is the result" I had an ex girlfriend who loved to say shit like that.

3 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:46 ID: ht721nw

I will translate it for you: "CoD Warzone will stay on PS5, everything else not dabs"

ID: ht72vuz

And when CoD warzone ends it’s service to move on to a brand new warzone type game it won’t appear in the playstation store.

I was fooled with the possibility that Elder Scrolls 6 might still come to PS5, i won’t be fooled again with the idea that COD will still release on any PlayStation consoles in the future.

And that’s not even talking about the marketing rights that Sony has just lost.

4 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:44 ID: ht71q07

By that he‘s basically saying that existing games won’t be pulled. But new ones probably won’t be released.

ID: ht7m855

Games released this year might release on Playstation depending on when the deal goes through.

But everything else after that I'm completely certain won't be on any other platform than xbox/pc.

ID: ht7pfwq

This is most likely the case.

The developers would probably be pissed with all the work they put into porting the games to Playstation.

ID: ht80mui

This deal won’t close until June 2023, so I think Playstation gets the upcoming CoD and one more. That’s it unless they allow game pass.

5 : Anonymous2022/01/18 18:21 ID: ht7holx

Didnt he said that shit about Bethesda?

ID: ht7ldwe

Yup. Nearly word for word.

ID: ht7whtl

What Phil is actually saying is “Sony, if you want COD, you have to allow Gamepass on your platform”

ID: ht7wpt3

Yep and as soon as the contracts run out all the ips were gp exclusives …..

ID: ht83in0

And you can still play Skyrim on Playstation, he didn’t “pull communities away from that platform.”

Now for Elder Scrolls 6 on the other hand, which doesn’t HAVE a community on Playstation yet, there’s no community to pull away, it will just ALWAYS be an Xbox community from the very start!

It’s just the usual slimy marketing speech.

6 : Anonymous2022/01/18 18:24 ID: ht7i3ee

Translation: “we’re committed to that as long as Sony let’s game pass on Playstation”. Accept it folks, we’re not seeing these franchises again.

ID: ht7x221

Xbox will buy every third party publisher if it means getting Gamepass on PlayStation lol.

Next up, EA and Ubisoft

ID: ht81nwb

french government probably wouldn't let them take ubisoft like that but taketwo and ea are totally up for grabs

7 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:51 ID: ht72xkv

Spencer: Sorry, forgot to add; until we don’t

8 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:46 ID: ht7230b

The said exactly the same thing after the Bethesda deal. Just means that Warzone and other GaaS games will stay on their platforms, everything else exclusive to game pass ecosystem. Please don't regurgitate the same shit as after the Bethesda purchase, it's so tiring to see gamers having unreasonable hope lol

9 : Anonymous2022/01/18 18:49 ID: ht7m9r2

“I will say something nice while this is being reviewed by anti-trust regulators”

10 : Anonymous2022/01/18 17:54 ID: ht7d542

Just for context this is what Phil Spencer said about the Bethesda acquisition: "We have games that exist on other platforms, and we're going to go and support those games on the platforms they're on. There are communities of players, and we love those communities and we're going to continue investing in them. "
Seeing as the verbage is nearly identical I would take this to mean existing games will continue to be supported, but any new games will not be supported or released on PS5. This is in line with how they have treated Starfield, Skyrim and Fallout 76.

ID: ht7hdx5

Does this mean no Skyrim on PS6?

ID: ht80qqi

Skyrim? Maybe.

Elder Scrolls 6? Def not. Xbox exclusive.

11 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:55 ID: ht73jae

Give it a year and we'll see him all "ohh..well...I regret to inform you that actiblizz is Xbox only. I'm really sorry guys"

Proceeds to open nipple flaps on shirt and rub nipples

ID: ht7gp58

Ah so he’s a cable guy

ID: ht7j9pu

All corporate suits are cable guys

12 : Anonymous2022/01/18 18:06 ID: ht7f6ch

“…but as for the NEXT games, well obviously that’s our intent.”

13 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:11 ID: ht7zibr

He said the same thing about the Bethesda acquisition and then says all of the games are exclusive to Xbox, so this is basically like giving someone a slap before a punch

14 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:49 ID: ht72mf5

"We want people to play games wherever they want to."

This guy is very good at saying bullshit that means nothing while trying to act like the good guy. At the end of the day hes as scummy as any other person in his position. All that matters is money to him.

ID: ht7q3y5

This guy is very good at saying bullshit that means nothing while trying to act like the good guy

He is the epitome of this, literally, lol.

Every E3 ever.

15 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:42 ID: ht71hwt

Ha. Bollocks. It's the sole reason they bought Activision. Buy gamepass or you won't be playing any future COD.

16 : Anonymous2022/01/18 19:24 ID: ht7rwpt

Remember when he said that exclusives were a bad thing? Would love some Journalist asking him about that nowadays.

ID: ht8505p

He would just say "Xbox games run on natively on any Windows PC or Xbox game console, and stream over any Android/iOS/Mac/linux device, which is kinda over 7 billion devices all for the small price of 15$/month"

ID: ht7u8zn

It might still be his personal opinion after all. Seeing the XBOX One heavily failing and the next console having a rough start might have changed his decision.

17 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:37 ID: ht83uh7

Yeah, same treatment with Minecraft, it would be dumb to have COD as an Xbox Exclusive when most of the sales come from playstation and PC.

18 : Anonymous2022/01/18 22:13 ID: ht8jhf8

That's what all CEOs say to make their company look good, they never practice it though because money is king, not PR. Proof: People hate EA but it still banks. I bet you if people cause an uproar the deal can still get blocked so obviously he's going to say that. I don't believe it for a second.

19 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:43 ID: ht71njb

Phil and M$ are like the oil teams in sports. They can't develop new players/games so they just buy the top Free Agents/publishers to make a superteam.

ID: ht75vmc

That's exactly it.

ID: ht72n7v

The pay to win model! Aren't most A/B games these days quite heavy into the microtransaction space? I think in that regard they'd be crazy to keep the games like Warzone off PlayStation.

ID: ht7hv2t

As a Los Angeles sports fan, this is what my teams does, lmao. Especially the Lakers and now the Rams.

20 : Anonymous2022/01/18 19:01 ID: ht7o43t

Time to dust off Killzone and Resistance baybay

21 : Anonymous2022/01/18 18:59 ID: ht7nt4y

Translation : we didn't fork $68 billion for activision blizzard so that you get to keep rage cry in cod vc. But we'll throw you, PS orphans, a bone.... Hopefully you choke on it until you migrate platform.

22 : Anonymous2022/01/18 21:55 ID: ht8gkgj

Press X to doubt. He said the same shit about Bethesda games.

23 : Anonymous2022/01/18 22:24 ID: ht8l5nm

He is lying they are definitely gonna make cod exclusive to Xbox pc and get people to sub to gamepass.

24 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:54 ID: ht73dxf

You don't spend 70 billion, most of which was spent to get COD if we're honest, to keep the status quo, COD on PS5 will be negatively impacted going forward, you'd be very naive to think otherwise.

At best, inferior ports of the game and delayed extra content, at worst no version at all and GamePass exclusivity.

25 : Anonymous2022/01/18 18:18 ID: ht7h6p5

Phew, good guy Phil. I'm so happy you said the same thing about Bethesda games too. Can't wait to play Starfield on PS5.

26 : Anonymous2022/01/18 16:41 ID: ht71cgg

Fuck off Phil, same shit he said with zenimax.

ID: ht7iwu2

Legally he can’t speak to the direction of Activision Blizzard until ownership is finalized, everyone went through this with Bethesda.

ID: ht73d6k

I would prefer for them to just be honest and give it to us straight.

Will any new CoD game or Activsion game ever release on another PlayStation console again (Yes) / (No)

27 : Anonymous2022/01/18 17:07 ID: ht75got

They'll likely keep any major series currently on PS there, as well as any titles currently in development for both systems, but Microsoft didn't spend $70bn to support PS sales, so you can bet any major IP that isn't well into development will be MS exclusive (Xbox/PC).

ID: ht7j7w9

Yea this is Bethesda all over again.

28 : Anonymous2022/01/18 20:38 ID: ht8404d

Honestly, I hope that, instead of drawing huge numbers of players to Xbox, making CoD exclusive would finally torpedo a franchise that really hasn’t been that good in at least a decade.
