- Dying Light 2: Stay Human Review
-
TL:DW
-Game is extremely buggy right now. Not just the usual visual bugs. Falling through the world, dialogue not triggering, quest progress getting bugged, severe audio glitches, and an incident of a corrupted save file on PS5
-When it’s not glitching out, the game is pretty fun, running through the city feels great
-World is filled with interesting characters and side stories, the main story and character are not nearly as interesting though.
-Narrative choices don’t have the impact that was talked about in advertising
ID: hvaakyzID: hvae0mdThe main story not being great is a bummer considering they brought on people specifically to help the story since the first one was so poor.
ID: hvafdjeYeah, when it comes to sequels we hear so much about the Assassin’s Creed 2 scenario of taking a first game with a solid foundation and using that to build something more interesting. But from all the reviews I’ve seen, Dying Light 2 is what happens when a team that has a solid foundation (free running from zombies), but doesn’t really know what they want to build from that. They’ve said they plan to support this game for the next 5 years so hopefully they can figure it out in that time.
ID: hva9pj0Not surprising. The choices system they revealed looked very ambitious, then when you factor in the delays and development hell its no surprise it doesn’t live up to what they promised.
ID: hva9s24Were they playing with the day one patch installed? Maybe that will fix some of the bugs.
ID: hvaardaNo they werent
ID: hvak7obGuess I’ll wait for it to function properly. Might be on sale by then.

The corrupt save bug legit scares me.
Heard the game is around 80h+ for Platinum...
ID: hvbd8syJust upload save to ps plus storage or use usb stick.
ID: hvaqnr1Imagine playing for 499 hours and then the game deletes your save before you have done everything.
-
Looks like I'm going to wait a bit longer until these bugs are patched up before committing to this game. My wallet will be happy for now haha
ID: hvabve3Yeah with Pokemon, Horizon and Elden Ring my wallet needs some breathing room lol.
ID: hvam0ycYeah I tend to buy games impulsively, and was ready to do a last minute preorder if reviews were in the high 80s, but hearing it's full of bugs just tells me I can get a better version of it in several months at a lower price. Seems like a win/win/win.
-
Im now officially more excited for this promised next gen upgrade for the original dying light than I am for the sequel. Been far too many big overhyped games fall flat recently.
-
Did reviewers play with the day 1 patch?
ID: hvaar5rI doubt it since they’re telling consumers to wait until launch to play if they somehow got an early copy of the game
ID: hvabtmoThey did not, but its unlikely the day one patch will fix every bug.
ID: hvatzxsYa, the mythical Day 1 Patch never saves a game.
ID: hvaavp9Well it is 2 days away from day 1 so I don't think so haha
-
Oh look, another unfinished game.
-
This just looks straight up boring lol
-
Womp womp. At least it'll be cheap soon.
ID: hvanmk5Yeah this is definitely the type of game to go in sale for 20 bucks after a couple months.
-
I had a hunch that this game would have a rough launch and it seems I’m right. The reports of ‘development hell’ indicated trouble.
ID: hvaaticThere's a big day 1 patch that the reviews didn't have as far as I know
ID: hvanrtwNever rely on a day one patch. I’ll take a look after the day 365 patch.
-
Kinda what I expected, notheless I’m still excited for it. Dying Light is a blast to play and this seems to just eveolve it and I’m fine with that.
Shame tho that the story choices doesn’t have the impact we were lead to believe, in almost every case where the developers hype up the story choices they almost always fall flat.
-
Day 1 patches should not been the norm. Seems to me that it’s next to impossible for a AAA budget game to be released without issues.
ID: hvaoew3Day one patch or not there is no reason to play this buggy mess at launch, especially with Horizon and Elden Ring right around the corner.
-
The positive in this is that I won't have to spend too much money this month. We already have Horizon and Elden Ring.
ID: hvaiyzaYeah I might pick this up during one of the bigger PS store sales later in the year. Hopefully it’ll be in a better technical state by then
-
Another AAA studio profits from lies and pre orders.
ID: hvao867The fact that the past month’s advertisements focused on the absurd length of game instead of the meaningful narrative design they originally advertised was a huge red flag.
-
I bought the first game on PS4 years ago and found it pretty forgettable and boring far too quick. I had a feeling this was going to be much of the same even though I wanted to be proven wrong.
ID: hvag5ubI have the same sentiment for most open world games. They are so big and take so long to complete. But because the game mechanics don’t change much throughout the game, you end up with repetitive objectives and button mashing.
Games like Last Of Us is the perfect balance of exploration, while keeping things easily contained. IMO
-
Lucky I didn’t preorder it
ID: hvanxdgMan lucky you didn’t put your 5 bucks down!!!
ID: hvanonwLuckily, there’s still time to cancel preorders.
-
I got an ad for the game and it looked so beautiful, but in this review it looks so muddy and ugly.
-
Day one patch should fix some bugs (stated by them) but I’m just curious why there are bugs when they said they have gone gold
-
Looks really bad in first person. Looks at those arms flailing. LOL.
-
Sadly the game is a pass for me, in till they fix bugs. Hopefully, that is in the day one patch. Either way, I'm not planning on picking this up at launch.
-
hmmmmm, i hope there is a fov slider
-
Woof
-
I’m waiting for this to go on sale.
-
Pretty much what I suspected. Will definitely be waiting for several patches and a heavy discount if I ever pick this one up. Parkour!
-
Bugs aside, the addition of the zombie meter where you’re constantly under pressure to get to UV lights has just turned me off of the game completely. I want to be able to take my time and explore in an open world game. Not constantly be harassed by annoying mechanic.
-
IGN seemed to be a bit harsher than a few of the other reviews I checked out, but disappointing to hear there are so many bugs/didn't fully meet their ambitions for the game.
Dying Light 1 was pretty rough on launch and eventually grew into an awesome game. I guess I thought they would have learned their lesson from that....
-
Been playing nearly 8 hours on ps5, and only experienced a few non breaking bugs. Guess im lucky?
-
This is a black friday game. Will probably be fixed by then too.
-
Kind of a let down to hear the game sounds unfinished and doesn't fool deliver on its promises after 2 YEARS OF DELAYS!!!
-
The lore and exploration is what sold me on the first game. Seems to be a improvement to those aspects. Most definitely buying after I finish persona 5 royal
-
Biggest issue they talked about for me - you get overpowered very quickly. Seen a couple other reviews mention this and it's just a huge problem. I really enjoyed Dying Light 1, but I had to actively avoid using Camouflage and Hookshot abilities cuz they just made everything trivial. But at least in that case, these usually weren't available til later in the game.
I still want to play this at some point, but it looks like I'm gonna have to figure out more self-imposed ways to keep the game exciting/thrilling.
I swear, basically every worry I had about this game seem to have born out. Certain design decisions were just easily recognizable bad ideas once you run it through your head a little bit.
