- Gamespot: Sifu Review (9.0/10.0)
-
Just a reminder that you should read/watch the review rather than just looking for the number.
ID: hvt14cmID: hvt19toYeah there are a lot of reviews in which what is said and the score given dont match.
ID: hvt31vgI’d rather not be spoiled on anything so nope.
ID: hvt3dyqIt's amazing how some reviewers just don't seem to care about spoiling parts of games in reviews.
ID: hvuj290Yeah this is me too as I prefer experiencing games blind. Aggregated scores may not tell the whole picture but they’re usually a solid indicator in my experience.
ID: hvuv9vmI don't like to have stuff spoiled either, but I honestly don't even know what this game is.
I'm not going to like a game that gets good reviews if I don't like that type of game.
ID: hvt605qEspecially for a game like this as the main issues people seem to have is the difficulty. So if you hate difficult games there's no point buying it just because someone gave it a 9/10. I love difficult games so I can't wait!
ID: hvt86ynThis.
Me for example, I was looking forward to this.
And this review settled it for me. It's a no go, at least for now.
The repetition and rogue like elements killed it for me.
ID: hvticytRogue like elements don't bother me if there's more to work towards, like collectibles or more to unlock.
But with this the only objective once the game is completed seems to be to do it again...only perfect.
ID: hvtv1amPerfect
ID: hvvbz3sThis is especially important with this game. The trailers do not depict it very well. It’s not a casual kung fu adventure

Woah its getting 9s from gamespot and ign
ID: hvt6hqgSo what,both gave deathloop 10's.
ID: hvt7si5I wonder if people on this sub will say the same thing when Horizon Forbidden West releases.
Doubt.
ID: hvt6p7uAnd? It was a blast
ID: hvtj9umAnd? Deathloop won many game of the year awards and got amazing scores from many publications.
ID: hvt9w0sShill reviewers. It means literally nothing, as others are already pointing out
ID: hvtetrqOr they just enjoy the game? Why does everything good mean they’re a shill?
ID: hvtmfdnY’all still believe IGNorant?? LOL
-
Not my kind of game but glad there are people who will enjoy this
-
As an indie game it’s great if you go in expecting a AAA title your going to be disappointed
-
This is reviewing really well. Too bad it's probably too hardcore for me. I'd like to try it.
-
Their reviews can't be trusted after deathloop sadly but good to see widespread praise, looks a fun game
ID: hvt7zgpThis was reviewed by Richard Wakeling. Deathloop was reviewed by Tamoor Hussain.
ID: hvux5vbThat was a little bit racist and unnecessary sweetheart, why don't you go ahead and delete your comment? 🙂
ID: hvtucabJust finished deathloop and for me it’s one of the best games I’ve played this generation. But hey that’s just me
ID: hvt62p1I would look more at the reviewer than the publication tbh.
ID: hvt4bl1Deathloop was amazing.
ID: hvt4qwwDeathloop was good and fun, not a masterpiece Gamespot claimed to be.
ID: hvt61laGlad you enjoyed it but it's not a 10 by any metric
ID: hvt6uhlIt's not a 10.
ID: hvt6fnoDeathloop was a solid 7/10 in my mind. Not terrible not great. Probably not a must play title if you have others in your backlog
ID: hvt6e7wYa Deathloop felt like one of the more overrated games I've played in a while.
ID: hvtub9tFr deathloop was a 7 at most

What a profound disappointment, and a true waste of developer time.
I'd love to see and appreciate everything they made here, but I don't have the mental masochism to push through a level 30-50 times just to grind to beat a boss, then grind another level on top of it for the next boss.
Games don't have to be for everyone, but I will never understand why developers create a product and then lock the content away behind walls where their customers have to sacrifice immense amounts of time and patience while being punished with repetitive and eventually unenjoyable gameplay just to get a glimpse of what else the game offers.
Imagine spending years creating a game, and then looking your consumer in the eye and saying "You should buy our product, but we designed it so that you need to give up months of your life if you just want to see what the 4th boss is. Enjoy!"
There is no excuse for this game not offering a mode with save points. It's Returnal's huge launch blunder all over again.
ID: hvv60f6Reminds me when everyone got mad that Sekiro was too hard.
ID: hvvaobkI loved Sekiro. However, it should have had difficulty levels. I spent too much time playing that game just to see the ending, and would have preferred to have needed to play less to get there.
Still don’t understand why the devs forced me to slog through dozens of hours of trial and error when I just wanted to see the world through to completion.
ID: hvvgjogSo, I think you're off on a few things.
I'd love to see and appreciate everything they made here, but I don't have the mental masochism to push through a level 30-50 times just to grind to beat a boss, then grind another level on top of it for the next boss.
Most sections use some variation of four or five enemies and it really comes down to understanding the mechanics. If you can beat the first stage, you can beat the second without much trouble, since it just builds on the same fundamentals. Just like if you can beat stage four you can beat stage five, though there are walls where new enemies arise or problems might appear.
Bosses are really about learning rotations. Most only have like five moves that they constantly cycle between, making it easy to gauge what needs to be done. It's just learning to master it.
Games don't have to be for everyone, but I will never understand why developers create a product and then lock the content away behind walls where their customers have to sacrifice immense amounts of time and patience while being punished with repetitive and eventually unenjoyable gameplay just to get a glimpse of what else the game offers.
While I am a reviewer that gave it a lower score because of how this stuff is presented, you need both to make it work. If Sifu went easy, it would just be Dynasty Warriors with finishing moves or the first level with different colored outfits. It needs the deeper progression because that literally is the game.
There is no excuse for this game not offering a mode with save points. It's Returnal's huge launch blunder all over again.
It has shortcuts and it has the death system, which is pretty easy going if you're just looking to progress. You get up to 50 deaths, you just need to spread them out (not die to a boss excessively) to get there. And even if you do unlock stage two at age 20, you can just start stage two at 20 every time, eventually leading to stage three at 20 and so forth.

What makes this 9/10? At the end of the day I could care less cuz I’m not buying it but saying this game is near perfect is a huge overstatement. It honestly seems pretty shallow to me
ID: hvu7n05“What makes it a 9/10?” Did you read the review? “It honestly seems pretty shallow to me” Did you read the review?.
ID: hvu9fcmMy guy did u just look at the score and make a hasty generalisation?
ID: hvubbt7No I watched what they had to say and other videos as they came out and formulated my own opinion. I’m just curious how this would be a near perfect game and would love someone to tell me
ID: hvu88huHave you watched the review ?

I think the overemphasis on ratings and aggregators as well as rabid fans have completely ruined the art of criticism. Very few people nowadays talk about games and film because they love the artform, they just want to give out a score and be done. Every piece of art is so much more than just a number.
