i just want to avoid spoilers but enjoy the movie, too, since i expect there'll be references

It doesn't matter at all. Watch it if you want. Play the games if you want.

The movie cannot possibly live up to the legacy of the games so maybe better to play the games first to have better exposure to Uncharted franchise.

It really doesn't matter, but you'll probably enjoy the movie more if you see it first. You won't have anything to compare it against. The odds of the movie being better than the games are slim.

I would say see the movie first.

I would say you’ll appreciate the games more Bc the movie looks like trash in my eyes.

Games, then laugh at the cast of the movie, then move on.

6 : Anonymous2022/02/06 20:59 ID: hvuwz3h

Movie first for maximum enjoyment as its own thing. Watching it after playing the games will guarantee disappointment. There's no way it will be on the same level as the games.

what about the spoilers though?

The movie has very little to do with the games.

7 : Anonymous2022/02/06 19:14 ID: hvuh823

I'd skip the film entirely

This or watch the film first so you won’t know any better. There won’t be any spoilers in the movie, it’s more of a prequel.

ID: hvul6tw

It’s literally not even out yet

ID: hvuo9kf

It doesn't need to be out for us to know it will suck. Just look at the awful cast lol

The film is based upon the games, but it’s not like you need to know the background from the games first.

The film was made to stand upon its own, using the characters as the setting.

If I remember correctly the uncharted movie is supposed to serve as a bit of a prequel to the game series but knowing how most of these adaptations end up. I say play the games first. (I hope it turns out well but I always set my bar low with movies nowadays)

Can't really be a prequel to the games since it retcons the game's story. Uncharted 3 & 4 already extensively cover Nate's childhood and directly conflicts with what is shown in the movie trailer.

I just started playing, took about 8 hours for Drake’s Fortune and about 10 for Among Thieves. I’m onto the 3rd one now and will probably have them done before the movie. I’d suggest playing them if you can, they are quick fun action romps. I played on Easy just to sail through them.

I wish there was a just games option.

This is the correct answer.

People hating on the movie and it isn’t even out yet, they could of done well with it, it’s got a good cast and seems like a mix between uncharted 3 and 4 and both were solid games

ID: hvuyy0z

It has a shitty cast. Might have well as casted nick cage as Drake. Would be just as well casted.

Here's the thing though... Nobody takes advice from someone who doesn't know how to spell could have...

Not sure why you got downvoted. The worst thing about Hollywood is 99.9% of the time they believe they can do better than the outstanding source material they use.

Actually the only real exception to that I know of is LOTR.

Honestly doesn’t really matter because I’ve played the whole series multiple times and the movie doesn’t look much like it. Most of what I’ve seen in the trailer seems derived form uncharted 3 and 4 tho. That said, the games are incredible (1st one not so much as it’s quite dated) so I would recommend playing them all at so point

15 : Anonymous2022/02/06 20:26 ID: hvurz69

Just okay the games and watch the short movie thing Nathan Fillion did. You see how poorly they cast the movie. It’s insane that anybody though marky mark would be a good choice ever. And Spider-Man, yeah awkward spaz kid sure, but that’s all he’s got.

16 : Anonymous2022/02/06 21:55 ID: hvv54s8

If u play the games before the movie, I have a feeling you'll be disappointed by the movie.

17 : Anonymous2022/02/06 22:49 ID: hvvcyvb

I’m very excited for the movie. The games are a lot of fun and are a staple in the industry. But the games and the movie are not going to follow the same story.

The best way to enjoy the movie is to do your best to realize it’s disconnected.

18 : Anonymous2022/02/06 22:57 ID: hvve4a3

I’d think movie then games that way you don’t have expectations from the games on how it should be.

19 : Anonymous2022/02/06 20:47 ID: hvuv50f

Play the games and never watch the movie, that’s should be an option.

20 : Anonymous2022/02/06 21:18 ID: hvuzo0e

Start with the worst 😉

21 : Anonymous2022/02/06 21:47 ID: hvv3wke

Tbh i dont will watch the movie, looks awful what they did. Spiderboy is now nathan drake..wtf

22 : Anonymous2022/02/06 21:51 ID: hvv4lv3

Play the games then don't watch that's terrible movie.

it's not even out yet!
