- Rumor: Avalanche Studios May Be Developing Mad Max 2
-
Someone said that the person shared this confused the game with "RAGE 2" and instead called it Mad Max 2, since they both look alike and RAGE 2 was definitely influenced by Mad Max franchise.
Just for the heads up, trying to set the expectations right so you won't get disappointed at the end.
Even though it may not be real, I still want a Mad Max game in my life, building on what definitely worked in 2015 game, and build on top of it, making it so much better and immersive. Please make it happen...

Rumor is based on a tweet by some creative person who posted a throwback pic from way back in 2017 when she was being 3D scanned for a game model in Mad Max 2 (according to her ofc).
So my opinion is that the game has been more or less abandoned/canceled as we are talking about WB games and they are notorious for doing that.
ID: hx78nqiOn the other hand, WB Games are also notorious for long development cycles - see 8 year gap in games from Rocksteady.
There is a chance they are being a little more ambitious with this Mad Max game. There is also another Mad Max movie in development, they may just be waiting for everything to line up with that release to get the maximum impact.
But there is a good chance it is cancelled.
ID: hx5sx59Especially since the first one was a huge flop
Why am I getting downvoted? The game did not sell well at all. That’s what a flop is you idiots
ID: hx6cj9kI suspect there were a lot of people like me who WITNESSED Mad Max: Fury Road in all of it’s glory in the theater in May 2015, but by September 2015 had somehow been busy or not hyped about the game for whatever reason. And then years after the fact, got around to playing it and found it to be a perfectly capable AA game with some really visually stand-out storms and some fun driving and upgrades. I think we’d all grown up having it burned into our heads that movie tie-in games are never as good as the movies.
I originally bounced off of this on the PS4 at 30fps and only recently tried played this on the XSX with FPS boost all the way to 120fps and what a difference that makes!! I’d love to get a remaster for the resolution and fps with DualSense support for haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for the harpoons and guns, with 3D sound that you can really hear in the storms. It deserves another chance, if not a sequel.
ID: hx6uen9It came out on the same day as MGS V, effectively killing any chance it had. I did platinum the game later after it came to PS Plus and it was ok. The car combat was kinda fun
ID: hx6vuu6It was definitely a flop, but the game is actually fantastic. I suspect he downvotes are because the game has a weird cult following at the moment.

Mad max was severely underrated what a fun game, nice open world, lots of activities, run incrediblely well, and looked good
-
first was fantastic
ID: hx61b3pYeah I’m surprised we don’t already have a sequel. Must not have sold well.
ID: hx6nxx0I believe it came out the same day (or at least the same week) at Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain. I think it sold almost 2 million and that was still under expectations.
ID: hx6cug6Really? I couldn't finish it.

The Mad Max game was a truly underrated masterpiece. Had issues here and there for sure but overall, it was an unfortunately forgotten gem.
ID: hx5jo8uMasterpiece is a bit strong but I agree it was underrated. I had a lot of fun with it.
-
We live, we die, we live again! Witness me!!!!!!!
-
Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
-
First game is good.
-
God I hope so.
-
I want to believe. Such a good game.
-
God, I hope that's true. I had an absolute blast with the first one and still can't believe they had such detailed and well made expulsions for a 2015 PS4 game
-
Greeeaaaaat combustion!
What a fantastic and underrated game this was. Was incredibly surprised by how great and amazingly fun it was.
ID: hx6o88lThe mighty duster!
-
Personally would LOVE to see this actually happen. Was a cracking good by-the-numbers open world game. The IP just didn't click with enough folks to warrant a sequel I think.
-
Loved the game and I'd love another, but not unless George Miller is involved intimately with the writing until the very end. I liked the idea of the first game's ending, but it didn't feel true to the established character. The abruptness and brutality of it fits what the world 'should' be, but as a story, mmph.
-
One of the most underrated games ever
-
I wish they would. The first one is incredible for a first entry. A timely sequel could have produced a really great game.
-
Loved that game
-
Please be true

Mad Max was the sort of game that was fun for the first few hours, but then every mechanic they had just got tedious. The world they built was very desolate and empty, which is good because that’s what the Mad Max world is like, but the things they had in them were generic and uninteresting. The story was pretty dogshit. The vehicle combat was cool, but got way too boring by the end, becoming just a ‘shoot a grapple, shoot a grapple, shoot a grapple, yay you’ve done it’ sort of thing. It definitely had some cool things in there, but it really fell flat. A lot of refinement needed if there would be a second one.
And to all the people calling it a masterpiece, please just stop. It doesn’t even come close to games of its time, let alone stand up against true masterpieces. Did it go under the radar? Yes. Is it underrated? Partly, but not massively. It’s a game that showed promise but failed to really do anything with it
-
Don't have much confidence in Avalanche. Rage 2 was boring repetitive garbage with a super forgettable story. Mad Max deserves better.
ID: hx5k802The other Mad Max game is really good though
-
Still need 60fps on the first one
-
I would love a new Just Cause for PS5.
-
Which avalanche? The ones who made Disney infinity, or the ones who make just cause 3 with so much motion blur at launch that it made people sick, then proceeded to make the exact same mistake with just cause 4, showing they're incapable of learning from their mistakes?
ID: hx54it4Uh, I get that you’re trying to force in a jab at them for something you didn’t like with JC, but that doesn’t even make sense.
Even if you conveniently ignore the fact that it says “Avalanche Studios” and not “Avalanche Software” it wouldn’t be very hard to come to the conclusion that it would be the ones who made the first Mad Max and not the ones who made Disney games
-
Kind of odd they are doing it now, so long after.
-
Would play
-
The Road Warrior!
-
I waited too long to play the first game and now you can't get one trophy. Forever unable to complete, soured me greatly on it.
-
Hopefully it'll be on PS5, the last Avalanche game was published by Bethesda and I think they have a deal with Microsoft for their next.
Mad Max was excellent.
-
First one was so goddamn repetitive tho
-
It wasn't the best game in the world but it did some pretty interesting things. The concept of the roving caravan of trucks and cars you had to take down was super fun and the super storm mechanic was great.
-
I'd like to see these guys try their hands at a Tank Girl video game.
-
Oh man if thats true i'll be over the moon. Mad Max is a fantastic game. As long as they keep the spear on the car so i call pull shit down and impale enemies again. Good times!
-
Good they should. That game was rad and didn’t seem like anyone talked about it.
-
Loved that game
-
I enjoyed the first one so much when it was free on PS+ that I will buy the sequel if they make it,
-
I play mad max 2x a year since its been out. One of the most underrated games to me. Still hoping for a part 2
-
Would be nice if they released a 60 fps patch for the PS5.
-
Fucking hell I hope this is true. I was literally lamenting the unlikelihood of this last week.
-
Please Be True
-
No way
-
They don't know how to write story's or do side missions right. I hope they figure it out

Rage 2 was also partially developed by Avalanche.
