First things first, I have no problem when Sony starts porting their games to PC, more players that can enjoy an awesome game is a good thing.
But it becomes a little less good for the core fan base, which still is on the PlayStation platforms, when they clearly focus their resources for lifecycle & patching only at the PC version. As I mentioned in the title, the PC got two patches since the release of the PS5, while we got zero.
Please be civil, this is not a anti-PC-port post, I just noticed some side effects of this strategy and I hope Guerilla & Sony adress these soon with a 60fps patch for the PS5.
Guerrilla Games didn’t do the PC version it was outsourced. GG is working on HFW and MP title.ID: gpzqhpw
I'd put money on a PS5 upgrade being part of an "ultimate edition" of Forbidden West;just like Miles Morales.ID: gpz05ge
Who did the port job if you don't mind me asking? Just curious.ID: gpzhh65
What is this MP game you speak of...?ID: gpyuoua
GG had handled patching up the botched port the outsourced company did.ID: gpyujkf
Oh ok, I didn't know they outsourced it. My next question then would be, if they can outsource a possible PS5 patch. Because when the PC gets patch over patch while the PS5 version doesn't, then the PS5 owners will naturally get a feeling of being left behind.
I am also suprissed that R&C didnt get a 60fps patch. Insomiac are on a roll and I tought they would go further and beyong to patch that game, it deserves it. Good game.ID: gq1sw2e
meanwhile, destroy all humans got it's update.ID: gq30lel
Insomniac has a insane games output recentlySpider-Man 2018 Stormland 2019 Miles Morales 2020 R&C 2021
That are 4 aaa games in a row, I don’t expect them to have any resources left to do basically anything lolID: gq2x46z
probably prioritizing Rift Apart
and then maybe you'll get a patch, afterwards, for the older game(s)
Definitely feeling spoiled by 60fps titles atm, I’m replaying Horizon right now and going to 30fps is a bit jarring lol. Still a lot of fun, but I’d love it to be 60fps as wellID: gq149fw
Same. I played through both SM Remastered and Miles Morales at 60fps and going back to 30 I think to myself how did I put up with 1080p 30fps on the base PS4 when it originally released. Didn’t think I’d get as spoiled as people say, but alas I have.ID: gq1lb4v
Horizon is one of the most beautiful games ive played, but going from that to ghost of tsushima on ps5 is... surrealID: gq1nq3s
At least now you console players know why we make so much fuss about 60fps.
All PS4 exclusives needs a upgrade PS5. 4K. 60FPS.ID: gq1vobo
Don’t care if it’s 4K as long as they give us more 60 FPS titles.ID: gq2rbkv
Bloodborne. 60fps. Any resolution
Yeah it’s definitely frustrating. I’ve been dying to replay the game but I’m patiently waiting for a 60 fps update. Hopefully it’s here sooner than later.
Because Horizon Zero Dawn is going to get 60 FPS upgrade along Horizon Forbidden West release. If you want to play remastered version of Zero Dawn on PS5 you would have to buy special edition of Forbidden West.
This is just my speculation.ID: gpzrvyv
Trash from Sony if that’s the caseID: gq119vc
The base game will be a PS+ game for sure when FW launches. But I can see them going the Miles Morales route, no doubt.ID: gq1ifyi
That’s what’s said on this subreddit but there is any real source on this. God of War took some months to get updated to 4K60FPS, Guérilla Games are simply working on another game for now, they just aren’t spending time on developing 4K60FPS for HZD for now
I assume that when Sony will drop a big trailer for HFW with the release date and pre orders starting, they'll announce a PS5 update for HZD along with it, so people could complete it on the PS5 in its best form before the sequel comes out.ID: gq1izaw
This is the most realistic option imo
If I was going to set priorities, I would rather have HFW before a PS5 version of a game I already played.ID: gq1njus
Putting out a PS5 patch is easy marketing. I have a PS5, didn’t own a PS3 or 4, and I haven’t played HZD yet. I want to play HZD before FW is released and I won’t likely do so at 30 FPS if there’s a 60 FPS version out there that I can play on PC.ID: gpzoo4k
I'd rather have a 60fps patch for a game im willing to play now than never play it after a next gen sequel comes out.
Not only is it capped at 30fps, it's a sluggish 30 on ps5 compared to other games I've played.ID: gq1plxm
Not sure what's wrong with your PS5. on my PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 it's a solid 30 fps. The game rarely has noticeable frame rate drops.ID: gq1stmo
turn off these things called motion plus, or what ever technique your TV brand uses to smooth picture movements. one frame drop can have a big impact if these techniques are active. always play in game mode.ID: gq1zcyh
I mean, the 30 FPS are terrible but they're no more terrible than other games. It's just that an open world action game at that low of a framerate is nasty. A patch is certainly in due time Gerrilla.ID: gq1staw
HZD has some of the best 30fps frame pacing I’ve ever seen. It’s ridiculously smooth for 30fps. You’re being hyperbolic.
Seeing how many issues the PC port of HZD had at launch (and some issues nowadays) I don't think it's straightforward to them to simply remove the 30fps cap from the game on PS4.
It will get a patch, hopefully in better shape and optimization than the PC port.ID: gpzcwdk
Indeed, the devs have come out and said the game was designed for 30fps only (like the animations) so unlocking it introduced a whole bunch of problems which they had to fix.
If it doesn’t happen soon, it’s because they’re planning a PS5 port of HZD sometime before the second one comes out.
Like other people said, the PC version is ported by a different studio and not GG.
Digital Foundary just posted an updated analysis of the PC port and it’s still lacking with no more updates coming.ID: gpzn1cy
Where did guerilla state this was the final patch and how is it lacking when mid range gpus from a bygone era saw as much as a 65% increase in performance? The odd microstutter when the UI updates is the only thing left, everything else is fixed.
The PC patches are likely not as big a deal as a ps5 upgrade. It's not as simple as just uncapping the frame rate that would effect the whole code base and likely mean a full top to bottom QA test and cert process.
Assuming HZD FW is in its final year of dev, this is when the QA department is crunching the most.
My prediction is that Zero Dawn will get a remaster like Spiderman that is attached to an ultimate edition of Forbidden West. So the answer is the same reason that Spiderman PS4 has no 60 fps mode in my opinion. I hope to be proven wrong.
Imma say it, while it would be nice if every game got a ps5 patch of some kind, developers don’t owe us a damn thing and I’d rather them spend time working on new stuff than making an old game look/run slightly better.
I joke that they're sitting on the update for their eventual official delay of Forbidden West announcement.
inb4 someone says "Sony says no delay for Forbidden West", and I just repeat myself, and if necessary share some similar article about CDPR saying no more delays for Cyberpunk 2077.
I thought the game does 60fps in performance mode
Same with Death stranding. It ported to PC and now PC gets exclusive updates and even content that we can't get on playstation. Absolutely sucks.
I would prefer Guerilla concentrate on Forbidden West rather than divert resources to upgrading HZD.
Word. I fired Horizon up on Monday for the first time on my PS5 and I was disappointed to say the least.
Definitely not as simple as unlocking the framerate as seen by the PC port and the devs coming out saying it was designed as a 30fps game. Many problems needed to be fixed due to unlocking it for PC.ID: gpz68k2
I think they are rightfully focused on ps5 games. We have already been spoiled with bc ps4 games.
I have yet to play this game and have been thinking about picking it up. I've heard playing this game with m&k is much better than playing on a controller but if it's really not that bad then I might get it on console. Anyone here have a suggestion on which version I should get it on? I know I'm asking this on the PS5 subreddit but idk if I should jump on the boat now or what for a potential PS5 upgrade to come.
