I’ve had my PS4 for about a year, I bought it when the modern warfare bundle came out and it’s been overheating since day one. I’ve cleaned the fan but I’ve never seen any dust on it and Idk what to do anymore. Recommendations?

Do a complete tear down and clean the heatsink, replacing the thermal paste and stock thermal pads. Add a pad on the hdmi port. Several YT videos to guide you. Look at your placement. Make sure the console has room to breathe. Good luck

Elevating it can help a bit in my experience - I’m sure others can provide better advice though

As someone who cleaned my ps4 last week, it does huge wonders. He's more silent than when I bought it (keep in mind that most new consoles comes out of the shelves with the paste a bit dryer already).
Also, keep it with breathing room on both sides and back, avoid placing it in tight closed spaces. Cleaning and this alone should solve your problem.

I'm not going to say anything different from others here, but;
Disassembly, deep clean, pads, and paste. Use ifixit's teardown for reference. I recommend Thermal Grizzly products, they've been doing my Pro good for the past few years.
Afterwards, make sure your PS4 is in an open area, with a minimum of 5" of open space to all sides, and try to elevate it a bit if you place it horizontally.
Sidenote, if/when you get a PS5, do not attempt this with the PS5. Liquid metal is a completely different breed of monster, and it will wreck your shiz if you don't do things right. The PS4 is way more forgiving.

I just took mine into a local store that fixes electronics and for $52 and some change they cleaned it and put new thermal paste and pads in. Now my baby runs so silent it’s like it’s not there

Where is the best place to send my ps4 slim to get looked at or gone through its overheated due to world war z coop online multiplayer. It is only a year old . It starts up and installs a game before locking up from a cold start.

Replace the thermal pads and paste, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube.

Keep the console in a well ventilated space. I initially kept it inside a shelf of tv stand. It was burning hot. But then moved it next to tv. And it managed heat dissipation very well.

Needs repasting. Thermal paste won’t be doing its job

When you say overheating, is the console actually giving a warning notification and shutting down? Or is the fan just loud?

Get a ps5, also add a fan to back of the PS4 prevented mine from overheating during mw.
Be a better investment to use that money for new thermal paste and pads than a gimmicky fan attachment.
I took the top lid off mine and added a laptop cooling pad with fans on top upside down.

This.
It will take you about an hour at most while watching a YouTube tutorial
