I'm still trying to get a PS5. I don't have time to keep waiting for Twitter updates and just staying on my computer constantly watching. A lot of people made assumptions that we'll see the PS5 in store around April. Do you guys still think this is possible, with the way it's still currently selling out and we're almost in March? I don't know, I'm just hoping to get one by the summer

I think it's possible. If PSD keeps up with these near daily drops that is a good sign that production is beginning to keep up with demand. It seems like these last couple weeks we have had more drops than in the 3 months prior, but that could be perception.

A rush of drops means there’s likely a drought on the other side. Reports are that production is “being streamlined” (actually slowing in non PR language) and the price of materials going down (I don’t buy it) currently but the effects won’t be noticed in the retail market until this wave is sold. 18 million is Sony’s optimistic projection for all of 2021. PS plus as 50 million subscribers. Gonna be a lot of folks left out in the cold for a while.

In some parts of Europe I don't think you will be able to easily get it this year. Ou biggest stock i think was the one from last week and had only 1000 disks. And also it was kind of the only one since lauch

We won’t ever see PS5’s in stock until the end of COVID no matter how many PS5’s are in stock eventually, online scalpers are still going to snag as many of them as possible, I think it’s too big a thing for it to suddenly stop just because there are more in stock, bots will still snag them up everywhere as soon as it’s available unless policies are put in place or they’re available physically

You have: big time scalpers with sophisticated bots, cook groups, small time scalpers that just have a knack for buying PS5s, people like me that buy for friends/family, gamers looking to get one and know what they are doing.....and then gamers trying to get one and don't even know they should be following Twitte
etc.I think the percentage of scalpers is relatively small but so is the volume of consoles.
You have people that barely game going for this console. That makes it even tougher.

Forget following Twitter accounts and Discord. There’s a Chrome extension called Octoshop and it’s free to DL. It helped me get my PS5 after about a week of trying. Once installed, you can track the PS5 on every major retailer site...You’ll receive a notification the moment a retailer adds stock online. Simply click the button in the pop up notification to go to the retailer’s website. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll be able to add the PS5 to your cart and check out.

I feel it will be impossible to ppl that work or have a life. At least where I live. I’ve been notified of some stocks but the time is not publicised it’s usually on working hours, and it lasts a couple of minutes. I do think it’s a shame tbh. The thing is we don’t have another possibility, we are commercial hostages

I got mine yesterday. Turn on the notifications on Twitter to push to your phone. Target was great because it was for local pick up. I’d dedicate about 30 minutes after the notification to trying before giving up. I got mine about 10 minutes after the notification.

My prediction is this entire year will be the same as January/February just was, online only with very small drops and having to compete with everyone else plus bots.
I just picked mine up from Best Buy after being able to order it last week against all odds. Luck has to be on your side, but you need to put in some work with Twitter notifications and having every retailer with an account ready to go.

I've been trying to get one for a while just got one today or ordered one but I used twitter for updates and just prayed I was fast enough took a while but worked I got mine from amazon if there are restocks on amazon try adding it to your list so its easier to spam add to cart. Hope you get it.

I got mine back in late January from Best Buy. The best advice I can give you is to forget waiting for Twitter notifications. Join a discord! They announce stock at least 2 minutes before Twitter accounts do. I spent two weeks in January following Twitter accounts and failed everytime, even when I tried to purchase within seconds of the tweet. The day I joined a discord I got one.

Here in Taiwan, scalpers bought a ton of them.. hundreds probably (a lot currently still have 20-30 in stock) and we only got the pre-orders before release which sold out immediately. We don’t get regular restocks like the US. Sucks. I could spend $900 USD now and get one or wait til next year and pay retail price. I can afford to spend $900 USD but I don’t want to participate in filling scalpers pockets. Fuck them.

I have gotten 2 from PS direct. Before anyone wigs out, one was for a friend sent to a different address with a different PSN. I honestly feel like I can get one from PSdirect every time. If you have enough devices with different cookies its pretty simple and gets easier after every release as the demand pool decreases in size.

Biden’s now a gamer apparently, looking into scalper situation. We’ll see. Sony said they’ll optimistic about increasing production this year, but don’t expect significantly more drops. Chip shortage is real, demand is sky high across multiple industries. If I were in your shoes, I’d either forgot about it or (sighs quietly, awaits aggressive downvoting) just buy from a local scalper if you can afford it and you reeeeeaaaallly want it that bad. What I did. Got tired of the uncertain timing of drops, pulling myself away from work, spending half an hour on target, Walmart, etc, watching it sit in the cart, changing pickup location, sometimes rolling stock drops so I’d be on for another. 30 minutes... only to get rejected. Every time. You do you, but for your mental health I’d suggest you forget about picking one up hassle free anytime soon.

Only a extra $100 after retail + tax and I saved so much time and headache. Plus being able to enjoy my system instead waiting for restocks is so worth it.

True, there's not much out there right now. I really want to play Miles Morales though. I loved Spiderman PS4. And then I never played Horizon Zero Dawn, so I want to get that and play it before Horizon Forbidden West.
I was so stupid to sell my PS4 back in September. I thought I would be able to get a PS5 no problem lol
