I bought a reference 6800XT at MSRP from a UK store, and at the time was told I was in a preorder queue dispite the store saying there were no preorders. I was then told a couple days ago that Sapphire has discontinued making reference cards so I will never get my preorder fulfilled. To the store's credit they did offer me a discount on one specific card but I'm building in a Meshify C so most AIB cards are too long so I refused and was refunded. Now I'm just like everyone else 5 months into this mess waiting for a 6800XT to exist at remotely reasonable prices. Good luck to you all.

Would have been easier to get a different case and go with the card they offered IMO.
ID: grjqy98ID: grk2kv9NR200 has entered the chat.
ID: grjyqdoI have absolutely no clue why he thought it was a good idea to refuse the different model knowing just how shitty the market it is right now over a case; It's going to cost him MUCH more to get any other card than it would have to just get the card now plus a Meshify 2 to replace his Meshify C.
I can't even blame the retailer in this case, since they gave OP a very reasonable option and he decided to be obtuse for the sake of being obtuse.
ID: grk0kr5I'm sure like most people they get locked into an idea or upset about the current issue they close off their mind to any other possible changes they could make to improve the situation because it wasnt their fought and blame was on the store.
Nowadays consumers gotta learn to take responsibility because stores are handcuffed by things mostly out of their control.
ID: grl552fLet's say he already has everything in the case. I would still take the other card option. Now he has a bargaining chip if he wants to straight up trade for a reference model. Now he has nothing. Very shortsighted.
ID: grkk54xWould have been easier to get a different case and go with the card they offered IMO.
This. OP making it hard for himself. Totally unbelievable that he'd pass on a 6800XT lol. At least take the card and trade it for a reference model.
ID: grjzpnxmassive facepalm on OP's part
ID: grjzt9hOP screwed up badly.
-
came to the comment section to see OP getting roasted and i gotta say, i’m not disappointed
-
According to Fractal's own site, the Meshify C can hold a 315mm long card with a full size front fan installed. If you were to install a slim front fan, you could get that up to 325mm long. Did you check the length of the AIB? There are only a few 6800 XTs that would qualify as too long for that case.
-
Should have just taken the discount on the other card, and traded it for a reference model or something in your local area for the price difference.
-
That feeling when you reject a rx 6000 card because it doesn't fit in your case:
ID: grkkq41It's like rejecting a pallet of money because it doesn't fit in your wallet. OP is obtuse.
-
Refusing the card was plainly stupid. You had a sure card there at less than MSRP and just needed to get a different case. Now you'll get stuck waiting for months for a graphics card and will still end up paying waaaaaaaaay more than. MSRP.
Even if you didn't want to change cases you could have just accepted the card and sold it at higher price so you could use that money to get the card you wanted somewhere else.
-
That's a bit of a misleading title. What you mean is "I cancelled my 6800XT order yesterday"
-
The Mesh C is massive...I don't even understand...I fit an AIB 3080 into a 12L case with 240 AIO
This is some pepega stuff here my dude.
-
FYI, the Red Dragon 6800XT barely fits in my Meshify C with a front panel fan installed... If you ever find stock.
-
Just save up and use whatever gpu we got until this gpu situation is solved. That's what I'm doing this year and work on the looks of my build and upgrade my cpu ram and ssd drives while I'm at it. 🙂
ID: grk2cy2One way to look at it. I just have a feeling GPU might not come down to normal prices or stock for a long while maybe a other year or more.
Think about it for a minute. If companies possibly plan on releasing next gen cards in fall or possibly next summe
2022 and they need to normally put their focus on that stock maybe a few months ahead of release now they might need to double that time frame. So, let's say they wanna release new cards summer of 2022 that means they probably gotta start making cards early 2022 and we are already 1/4 into 2021 and prices and stock are terrible with no relief in sight.I feel like unless demand eases up by next winter and unless prices become too high and people stop buying because of that then things won't get better. It feels like the log jam has been created and with no pause it won't be easy to clear up chain.

Well this seems like the dumbest decision someone could make with the current climate around PC components.
Hoping they see all these replies and call them back in time.
-
lol
-
this thread is so sad. Any card they give you in exchange could have been sold at a massive profit instantly
-
Well that’s possibly the most stupid decision you could’ve made
-
That's not a vote of confidence from your retailer. Did they just have a 90 day cron that cleans out old orders to keep the books tidy fiscal period to fiscal period?
ID: grjaia5Pretty sure most online retailers have a policy that any purchase that isn't shipped within 90 days is voided. Hell, even scale model figurine websites have this policy.
ID: grjookbYes, I work for a major online retailer. Pre-orders are considered debt and thus there are all kinds of issues with holding funds for product you may never see beyond 90 days

In my country a 6800XT is 800 euro and the 3060ti is 1100 for some reason. Doesn't matter anyway cause they are all out of stock, still really weird.
ID: grjw824If they're out of stock then the prices are imaginary anyway.
ID: grk7hjwBloody hell, I got my 3060Ti for 600 Singapore dollars, which comes out to 374 Euros? I lucked out I guess.
-
I'm starting to think that the 6800XT has been discontinued. I haven't seen it in stock anywhere since launch, didn't see any on launch day either.
Pretty sure everyone is selling directly to scalpers/miners.
ID: grk3p10there are a fair few available in australia. My mate just got a Red Devil LE 6800xt last week. i picked up a 6900xt and my brother got himself a 3070. i didnt struggle at all to find the stuff i wanted.
ID: grka2mrI heard in Aussie land they’re available but the price is fuck you level

Damn I actually built a pc for my cousin in Meshify C, trying to buy 6800 XT. Didn't know they were that long and the case that small.. Will have to make a list of whatever fits :/
ID: grk999iThey're not "that small". The OP is making assumptions that don't hold up. The Meshify C can hold a 315mm long card with a full size front fan installed. That's already longer than most AIB 6800 XTs. If you install a slim fan instead, you gain 10mm more, for 325mm. At that point, only a few AIB 6800 XTs wouldn't fit, meaning you have a wealth of choices that are perfectly compatible with that case.
-
Umm mmmm op
-
So you didn't buy a reference 6800XT?
-
Sorry to say but if they offered you a card at a discount, should've changed cases
-
You refused a different card? Take the L for being stubborn, have a nice day dude.
-
Every month for me it's been "maybe next month". Here were are 6 months later and not a GPU in sight.
-
Should've taken their offer
-
Holy shit is this a joke?
-
Sounds pretty childish and stubborn to me. Instead of figuring out the best way to make the most out of the situation (clearly to take the alternative card and try it in the case, then if it doesn't fit buy a different case that will fit), you threw your toys out of the pram for no reason. You could have even taken the alternative and then returned it if it didn't fit, outright refusing it is bonkers
-
You should have changed cases, I wouldn't have turned the offer of another card down, you won't be picking anything up til 2022 now !
-
I would have bought the video card and returned everything else to build a pc. You can get new cases, you can't get new GPUs.
-
Should've just switched cases
-
Maybe next year GPU cards will be at a reasonably price and stock will no longer be a problem.
-
You should’ve just taken whatever card that they have and then either change your casing or take the card to the market place and look for a swap to the one you want. You’re gonna be stuck for longer (God knows how long more) without a gpu now.
-
in this climate, you take any newly launch good card they offer if there's no additional fee for the purchase
just buy a raiser and put the card on top of your smoll case, or get a new case that will fit.
-
Too bad you didn't take it. I would have bought it off you if no one wanted to trade for a NIB reference card.

I have an sffpc and you can be damn sure that if I got the chance to get a full lenght 3000 series at msrp I would've changed cases to one that allows a longer gpu.
Got a good enough deal on a 2 fan 3060ti so I didn't have to do that
