I love LOTR and the shadow games but I’m still so confused about this game. Were we asking for this? I’m going to give it a chance but idk there are so many other characters that I think I might have chosen first.

Such a weird project. I suppose tolkien stans will be interested but just from the look of it I don't see much incentive to play a game like this. We already know Gollum's story and he's not the most compelling character to play as imo. He's not even a full fledged villain, he's just a tragic and pathetic character. I really hope I'm wrong tho, and I'll still be checking for this game.
ID: gsbano5I am quite sure most of us hardcore Tolkien nerds are extremely trepidatious about this game, It seems so unnecessary. So much could be done in Tolkien's worlds, and a stealth based game featuring Gollum, I dont think is high up on anyones list lol.
ID: gsaafpuI've been a fan of LOTR since my childhood and I'm the least exited for this game. Not only it looks quite bland but you hit it in the nail explaining why Gollum is not a good idea for a main character.

Seriously, I love Gollum and his actor and LOTR but of all the characters to make a game about???????? Shadow of Mordor games were great now we need a elf or dwarf perspective game. Imagine being a warrior under Thranduil, exploring Mirkwood....

This looks just plain bad. It's one thing to have terrible animations or lack of mo-cap as a AAA dev but to have things as basic as textures being extremely low res and game models looking like pre-school clay sculptures is just embarrasing. There are indie games that are 7 years old that look better than this.
ID: gsa41mcToo add, even the rigging is horrendous. Go to 0:21 and pause and use > to skip frame by frame and look at the deformation of the shoulder. This is BASIC rigging and weighting of your model that a AAA studio can't even get right and the fact it is overlooked and added to the trailer is even more worrying.

I gotta be honest this is a terrible idea for a game. I absolutely can not bear to look at Gollum crawling around for the length of a full game. Yuck.

It's like that Styx games right? If you into that, than this will be good. And it doesn't cover the same parts as the movies so it may be worth for people that like the lore.
I'm more interested in seeing the redesign, since is based on the books, so a lot of creatures may be completely different.

I remember, when I was a wee lass, reading about characters like Elrond and Frodo and Legolas and Aragorn. Then coming across a character named Gollum and saying to myself, "Yeah, he's the one I want to be."

The game is all about Gollum and they fucked up Gollum's character design. Ok then. I completely understand needing to differ from the movie version but this just looks...weird and bad.
