Literally saw someone complaining about this on a different thread earlier today. Sony is blasting out the news headlines today!

ID: gvgaql6

Slowly preparing the heat for the summer

ID: gvggsqu

Linus Tech Tips just put out a video a couple of days ago complaining about this as well.

ID: gvgpn2k

Lmao why? It increases availability. How is that a bad thing.

ID: gvi2996

meanwhile MS hits it out of the park every day with crazy news.

ID: gvi3fhd

Meh

Good to see them upgrading it I’d imagine they will be working extra hard to get this service up to date so it becomes an option for most people and soon hopefully start getting new games made and released straight away for the service.

ID: gvgovc8

Yeah, for sure that it is their plan but I feel like the chipset shortage also affected their plans to improve the infrastructure of now because Ryan was talking about this in an interview from 2019 and said that in 2020 they will push the service more.

ID: gvhdnqb

I tried it so I could play games like MGS & Silent hill but there we so many stutters and blurry looking moments I just said fuck it and bought a PS3 lol

4 : Anonymous2021/04/22 17:09 ID: gvgrdt6

just add the first 2 fucking resistance games PLEASE. I WANNA PLAY RESISTANCE

ID: gvgxdul

I agree. They should really add all PS3 first party games.

ID: gvh6nm5

Fucking seriously man i check every now and then. And they only have resistance 3 my.least favorite.

ID: gvhje1x

They don't have their own OG first party tentpoles on there? Who the hell is in charge

ID: gvhkrih

Well this will at least make streaming a viable option over local versions of some of the non-Pro enhanced games on PS5. If it looks and plays at near-native quality, you can save a lot of storage space if you stream instead of download.

6 : Anonymous2021/04/22 15:14 ID: gvgaw2r

Looks like those 2019 plans from their financial meeting is finally seeing action.

Back in 2019, Sony outlined their Now and Cloud plans. It included things like upgrading the tech to 1080p, expanding Now streaming to other devices outside of PS consoles and PC, increasing the streaming capacity (is currently limited to 5 million), and improving the game catalog.

ID: gvgbt33

Would be funny if PSNow ended up on Xbox before gamepass on PS

ID: gvgdrrm

i’m pretty sure neither are going to the competitive platform

7 : Anonymous2021/04/22 17:45 ID: gvgwlb3

What about Aussie!

8 : Anonymous2021/04/22 21:38 ID: gvhtfdo

Cries in Australian

9 : Anonymous2021/04/22 15:17 ID: gvgb7fw

This is a very necessary update. The next thing is to include games like Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 in the remastered version, instead of the original, to make me say yes to this service.

ID: gvgcmub

This is what's really surprising for me when I looked at the list of games. Makes no sense to me why they didn't just include the uncharted collection along side the original. Those games are old at this point and sales slowed way down.

Same goes for games such as TLoU. Atleast GoW3 is the PS4 version.

ID: gvh8ee0

There’s a lot of weird cases where they have the PS3 version of a game and not the PS4 version. If the whole idea of streaming games is to get the best experience without downloading , every ps now game with a remaste

should have that version as the default

10 : Anonymous2021/04/22 20:26 ID: gvhjf4b

This doesn't really change anything to those who own a PS4 or PS5. Ps4 games are downloadable, most ps3 games are 720p, and they don't even add more ps3 games anymore. I guess this is good news for the people who use ps now on PC.

11 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:40 ID: gvgn5rk

Cool, after this week my annual subscription runs out. But honestly I wouldn't renew it right now. There are just no benefits if you have a PS5.

12 : Anonymous2021/04/22 23:00 ID: gvi41aq

Now it only needs to be available in my country......

13 : Anonymous2021/04/22 15:05 ID: gvg9ied

Is this service still a laggy mess?

ID: gvg9s11

it’s been much better for me as of recent. i think it depends a lot on your internet speed

ID: gvga0s1

Yeah? I might give it another go. I tried probably about a year ago or so and it was pretty poor.

ID: gvga8jt

Not in my experience. I have been playing single player games on it and I don't notice any delay or lag. That being said I'm not sure how a fps would do.

ID: gvgaltj

I gave mafia 2 a go a year or so ago and it didn’t seem to bet sustainable. Since then I have managed to get a wired connection though so my ping is a lot better. That might help.

ID: gvgejbn

I am wired on a Ps5 and I have had no problems with it. I’ve played a lot is PS3 titles, including FPS, and found it exceeded my expectations.

ID: gvg9yf5

Maybe it depends on the game or your service more likely, I was streaming Oblivion, the other day over Wifi 6 with no issues. Newer games though from the PS4 gen on are downloadable, so there is no issue there.

ID: gvga547

Yeah. There’s only a couple of games from the PS4 era that I don’t have that I’d like to play though. I’ve had plus for so long that I’ve got loads of the stuff I fancied through that.

ID: gvgchlq

I'm on it and it's great (UK if it matters). Other than the few seconds it takes to connect after selecting a game, it's pretty flawless for me. I was impressed enough to buy a 12 month sub after the trial.

ID: gvgb0v0

It’s fine depending on the game. You’re not gonna have a good time trying to stream a fighting game or a twitch shooter but something with a chiller pace will work fine.

ID: gvgfc9a

I just subbed for a year, downloaded some PS2 & PS4 games and streamed Starhawk and a Ratchet & Clank game over WiFi on my PS5, and I honestly didn’t notice any lag streaming. I streamed Infamous on my PC that is wired and it was pretty flawless. I hope an iOS app is coming.

ID: gvgj16y

I have pretty good internet so obviously results may vary but the service works completely fine for me.

14 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:10 ID: gvgityj

Is PlayStation Now down?

15 : Anonymous2021/04/22 21:50 ID: gvhuzis

I think we need to organize and put massive pressure on Sony for them to answer why the PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP/PSV library isn't available on PS5.

PSNow not being available on so many countries more than 6 years after it was introduced is absurd. What a terrible plan they had to handle backwards compatibility last gen and it makes zero sense now. Nothing against PSNow existing but it should get in the way of basic features.

16 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:31 ID: gvglweb

Sony again showing how far ahead thy are of the curve. Xcloud was suppose to be better yet all their content has been 720p and only caught up to what Sony has been doing for years. Now Sony will push 1080 also and then xcloud will push it after and act like it's a revelation.

ID: gvgpa2l

Xcloud was suppose to be better yet all their content has been 720p

?? Microsoft is changing Xcloud blades this year to Xbox Series X. They've just announced PC games on Xcloud will be using PC components.

Also Xcloud is available everywhere I.e Touch Controls unlike PlayStation Now

ID: gvgq39w

Thts all fine and all but initially psnow was found in alot more places including tv's then thy rolled it back due to strategy. Again my point still stands years later and it's still not doing anything better imo. Microsoft is focused on it so thy better push it. Sony been there, done tht and for them it is secondary. This 1080p is a step up over xcloud and i don't believe in "they will or are trying" show and prove as of now thy hvnt shown to be better still 720p like psnow with similar latency (mind you coming in years later after the competition). Same micro tht touted the cloud making their systems exponentially more powerful we all know how tht turned out. Psnow released in 2014 BTW lol and xcloud is still 720p in preview in 2021 smh talking about lil to no advancement.

ID: gvgye5i

PlayStation has remote play. You can play on an iPhone, iPad or android phone with a controller or touchscreen.

17 : Anonymous2021/04/22 17:48 ID: gvgx1ax

The fact that this wasn’t a thing before is pathetoc

18 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:56 ID: gvgpjk1

PS Now isn't 1080p already?

ID: gvgrwwm

Not for streaming

19 : Anonymous2021/04/22 18:11 ID: gvh0cg9

Does PSNow have a search function.

ID: gvh22yk

Yes it does.

21 : Anonymous2021/04/22 18:31 ID: gvh3a8r

Thanks Jim. He's listening!

22 : Anonymous2021/04/22 18:48 ID: gvh5qym

I hope that this won't have any negative effect on my own use case (streaming to Windows tablet in mediocre WiFi condition).

On that smaller screen the current stream already looked really good, so I hope 720p will still be possible on PC (an option would be great). For Stadia for example, setting the stream at 720p gives me a lot smoother performance than when I'm set at 1080p. So I hope that intentionally choosing 720p will be an option for PSNow following this (or that the 1080p wouldn't give me more stutter).

23 : Anonymous2021/04/22 19:17 ID: gvh9s7z

So I won’t have anymore trouble streaming games? I have 45-50MBPS

24 : Anonymous2021/04/22 19:17 ID: gvh9tii

has anybody else been surprised at the usability of their streaming? I've used multiple game streaming platforms and it really surprises me that for anything outside of like.. DMC or street fighter, it's actually playable!

25 : Anonymous2021/04/23 00:04 ID: gvibto7

It’s only going to get more stable, 5 years from now having the ability to play any of your console games anywhere you want is going to be sweet, and companies are full steam ahead on this front

26 : Anonymous2021/04/22 20:42 ID: gvhljm6

Thank. Jesus.

27 : Anonymous2021/04/22 22:07 ID: gvhx7rw

Why not 4k?

28 : Anonymous2021/04/23 00:01 ID: gvibgu7

1080p is a stepping stone.. 4k streaming is still in its infancy and internet/mobile infrustructure is lacking in a lot of places.

29 : Anonymous2021/04/22 23:11 ID: gvi5dqw

I thought that it was 1080p, except on the PC of you streamed to that platform?

30 : Anonymous2021/04/23 00:22 ID: gvidwvm

I haven’t really tried game streaming with PS Now. I usually stick to the downloadable titles. Is the latency noticeable with the streaming?

31 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:24 ID: gvgkscs

Shouldn’t it stream 4K?

32 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:33 ID: gvgm4r9

4k? You do know stadia wasn't even streaming 4k most of the time, it is very demanding. Xcloud came out years later than psnow and has only been doing 720p like psnow which psnow been doing for years. It's not tht simple, 1080p is a gd advancement.

33 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:34 ID: gvgm7s8

Ah didnt know that but looks like streaming may need around 5 years to be good hahaha

34 : Anonymous2021/04/22 20:30 ID: gvhjxkw

4k is around 10x more demanding than 720p if I'm not mistaken. Our infrastructure probably isn't there yet to have it 24/7 for everyone everywhere.

35 : Anonymous2021/04/22 21:16 ID: gvhqbxi

I was thinking 4K will be easier than thought to stream without ‘futuristic’ technology until you mentioned that last line lmao, silly me.

36 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:44 ID: gvgnt3u

1080p? Where the 8k like it says on the box?

37 : Anonymous2021/04/22 17:11 ID: gvgro0a

Ps5 will never play games in 8k

38 : Anonymous2021/04/22 23:44 ID: gvi9gjo

PS5 Pro might play them...badly.

39 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:48 ID: gvgoale

You realize these systems are going to be around until at least 2027 right. That 8k was more about saying there will be support of some type when it becomes common. Which means more than likely video content.

40 : Anonymous2021/04/22 18:31 ID: gvh3a56

It’s streaming games through PSnow

41 : Anonymous2021/04/22 17:24 ID: gvgtlfq

[deleted]

42 : Anonymous2021/04/22 17:30 ID: gvgueyk

You can already download games on PSNOW. All ps4 and PS2 games

43 : Anonymous2021/04/22 18:42 ID: gvh4uxf

You can download every PS4 and PS2 game on a PS4 or PS5. On PC, you can only stream. PS3 games can only be streamed.

44 : Anonymous2021/04/22 15:49 ID: gvgfvuu

[deleted]

45 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:11 ID: gvgj1mo

Because PS3 emulation doesn't exist in PS4 or PS5

46 : Anonymous2021/04/22 16:12 ID: gvgj6ra

Because the PS4/5 can't play PS3 games natively. Everything else is downloadable.

47 : Anonymous2021/04/22 23:24 ID: gvi70ff

The fact that this is news is honestly just sad. Downvote me all you want, but when I saw this I was legit surprised it wasn't already 1080p and just laughed at it.
