- TSMC optimizes workloads with AMD EPYC™ CPUs

“Give us more capacity and we’ll give you some CPUs”

From what I've heard very early on, TSMC absolutely loves AMD.
ID: gwnugqhAlso tsmc is a Taiwanese company, and AMDs ceo is Taiwanese, I'm not saying tsm would play favorites, but it certainly doesn't hurt. Lisa su is just about the most awesome person on the planet
ID: gwnzvbmWe all see how well TSMC and Nvidia get along. The CEOs nationality has nothing to do with the business relations of such companies
ID: gwp9tlmIt definitely has more to do with their massive, guaranteed sony and microsoft contracts and explosion of orders thanks to Zen's success.
ID: gwp2jxrI promise you pretty things like this don’t come into play when doing billions of dollars like business. CEOs would be just as happy to deal with human sized cockroaches.
ID: gwpg8e7Nvidia CEO: am I a joke to you?
ID: gwpqtimImagine thinking skin colour has anything to do with being a capitalist.

Company uses the highest performance and lowest TCO CPUs available in their Datacenter, big shock.
If you don't need optane NVDIMMs or AVX512, and aren't stuck to intel for some legacy reason, there isn't much of a choice to make.

Building your CPUs in-house must be an advantage
ID: gwnzsdgreally shouldn't make any difference whatsoever.
ID: gwo1iezIt’s called “dog fooding”.

which came first the chip or the server?
