Ratchet And Clank: Rift Apart Platinum Trophy Details Revealed

Rumor has it, that, to unlock the platinum trophy, you need to unlock EVERY other trophy.

ID: gygbzuk

Holy shit no way???

ID: gygsko8

Well luckily for us its only a rumor!

ID: gyhm6iw

Big if true.

ID: gyhct38

Bruh really, that’s a deal breaker

ID: gyhctsu

Is this officially confirmed yet?

Good to know that there probably won't be a Groovitron-like trophy. I'm still salty about that one, because for some reason I missed one enemy, so it didn't pop for me.

ID: gygf49p

I had this issue, for me it was the fish in the tanks on the train. Might be worth giving that a go

ID: gyi763i

Yeah you had to get the fish in the tank and then get the fish when it’s flopping on the ground, because for some reason those are two different things

ID: gyh7lh6

I wouldn't have minded this trophy if it was like Days Gone and told you details about what you need to do (ie a checklist of enemies still to get). This trophy stopped me bothering with the plat for R&C tbh.

ID: gyidu0a

What was annoying is that they're were enemies you could only encounter once right in the first level. So, if you didn't know any this one right from the start, you were screwed.

Being able to earn the platinum trophy in one go is super nice.

I've never been a huge fan of replaying games over and over. And with a big enough backlog already. This pleases me. Insomniac just keep hitting all the right notes again and again!

ID: gyg3e5y

Honestly my least enjoyable part of getting the spider-man miles morales plat was that I had to do a new game plus play-through. Yea the game was super short and yea I didn’t have to do it right away like I did but it kinda sucked.

That ending was SO good! I just didn’t need to see it a second time 3 hours later.

ID: gygea5t

Any New Game Plus or Difficulty trophy should be add-on trophies automatically. Especially for games longer than 100+ hrs completion. The Witcher 3 is a prime example.

ID: gygbeh8

It is nice to platinum a game you really enjoyed but if you have to waste more than a few hours to get that last trophy and it feels like a chore I think you should just leave it

ID: gyg54qm

Yeah there was no skill involved with speeding through the main story again and skipping cutscenes just for the Platinum!

ID: gygwdsr

Absolutely. Hard mode trophy in FF7R put me off doing any of the trophies..

I'd have been fine if hard mode was unlocked from the start.

ID: gyh60n3

I'm actually glad that they are doing the upgrade for this game so I can play it again on hard for this trophy, but with all the updates and visuals!

ID: gyhxh40

Hard mode was the best though and it wouldn’t have worked starting at level 1 with no materia.

ID: gygqb3d

Replaying isn’t so much a big deal to me. The worst is like, Returnal and having RNG in every aspect for collectibles so you’d spend an hour to only realize you won’t have what you need for that zone. RNG for collectibles is really shitty imo.

ID: gygc5bq

Funny you should say that because I am with you. I usually never do a ng+, and unless there's a ton to do (skyrim, ghost of tsushima, etc) I don't really like cleanup after the main story for hours either.

But ratchet and clank on ps4 I finished and immediately no hesitation went back through for my second run when it prompted me. I didn't even think about it haha. I don't remember if I got the plat but I know for sure I played twice and loved it!

5 : Anonymous2021/05/17 14:14 ID: gyg3utq

I’m really glad we a leaving “beat the game on super duper hard mode” behind.

ID: gygsbd4

I hate collectibles. It burns me out from the game so much. I beat Miles Morales and every time you think you got all the collectibles you would unlock a whole new set.

Then back when Spider Man first came out on PS4 I burnt myself out from collectibles only playing like 2 hours. Still haven’t gone back to the game but I plan to soon.

ID: gyg68gl

It makes sense for games like the RE 2 Remake, where a big point of the game is it's replayability. But for a majority of games that's not the case and it's just annoying seeing them

ID: gyg6mij

Exactly. I didnt mind those runs either because you can unlock mods that game provides that make it tolerable as well.

ID: gygg2qe

R&C have never had hard mode trophies. Usually, there's a NG+ (challenge mode, usually) trophy, but that's it.

ID: gyh65hu

The remake had the one annoying one with the disco gun, everything else was fun. The disco gun trophy wouldn't have been difficult if there was some way to actually track your progress.

ID: gyh73o5

I’m pretty sure a crack in time and into the nexus both have difficulty trophies.

ID: gyh85lo

Not true, A Crack in Time and Into The Nexus do have hard mode trophies.

ID: gyg55m5

Yes

ID: gyhiwgs

I personally prefer trophies as an accomplishment instead of a matter-of-time checklist but I welcome different opinions on the matter.

ID: gyhxgrd

Difficulty-based trophies have always sucked. At least TLOU2 puts Grounded in it's own separate trophy category so it's not required for platinum

ID: gygapr8

I disagree. What's the point of a platinum trophy if it doesn't challenge you as a player? Hard difficulties make you approach the game differently

ID: gygbefg

For me the platinum is about pushing players to explore everything the game has to offer. Not something to weed out “the casuals”.

Sure difficulty can push for alternate gameplay strategies when implemented correctly, but it can also just be an artificial barrier, making things more tedious without depth.

I’ve never really felt cheated when a game didn’t have difficulty requirements though… usually means the mechanics are sound and theirs lots to achieve

ID: gygg05u

Depends on the game. Ratchet & Clank is not a "hardcore" game, it wouldn't make sense to have the platinum not reflect the game itself. Something like Destiny, sure, a prestige trophy makes sense.

6 : Anonymous2021/05/17 14:32 ID: gyg68ou

That's great, new game+ trophies are usually what keeps me from getting the Platinum these days.

ID: gyga9rd

Do you not enjoy new game plus?

ID: gygau4v

I doubt its inherently that. It's more so that a lot of people just don't want to play through the game again.

ID: gygaqjr

For some ppl with limited time and a backlog replaying sometimes doesn't happens.

ID: gygb2ur

I can only speak for myself but games are getting pretty long (a positive development). Gaming is a hobby which I honestly don't have as much time for as I used to, and quality games are coming out pretty much every month. So as much as I might love a game, when I actually finish a game, that's pretty much it. I'd rather revisit a game a couple of years later rather than go through the campaign again right after finishing. At least for me New Game + is only really something you do after recently finishing a game, If I take a break from a game for a month or two I almost always restart the game just to get a feel for the mechanics again.

ID: gygiawt

Anecdotally no, at this point in my caree

I have a greater abundance of money than time/energy and would rather focus on new experiences than immediately playing a game over. Being able to platinum something in a single go is nice for the feeling of completion, but if it's not available I'll simply move on. I do appreciate the trend to having additional achievements for NG+ not tied to platinum. Just my perspective

ID: gygb3zw

Probably just doesn't have the time like so many of us sadly.

7 : Anonymous2021/05/17 14:40 ID: gyg7eus

All in all a fairly simple platinum, similar to most of the other recent exclusives. I don't really mind this, some challenge is good but please not something like Nier Replicant oh god no.

ID: gyga0ch

Got replicant in my backlog, how bad is it?

ID: gygap40

Horrible. Do you like doing the same thing over and over and over? Because that's what you're going to do for a looooong time.

Not counting the stupid speedrun trophies, the ridicolous drop rate of some item coupled with the horrible side quests (this is on purpose. Thanks Yoko Taro) will make you go insane.

8 : Anonymous2021/05/17 14:41 ID: gyg7kn3

I haven’t typically been one to go for Platinums except for some games that I really like, but I’ve gotten like three of them since I got my PS5 a week ago: Astro’s Playroom, Miles Morales, and The Pathless. So now I’m kind of into it.

ID: gyg9r65

I got the KH3 plat at launch because I enjoyed the game and it was easy, then I got the Spider-Man plat for the same reason... Then covid hit and now I have 8 plats. Nothing crazy like some trophy hunters but I still find myself playing a game past the point of fun sometimes.

9 : Anonymous2021/05/17 15:15 ID: gygc8mp

What a relief that it won’t take 3 play throughs just to fully level all the games for that stupid fucking trophy

10 : Anonymous2021/05/17 18:58 ID: gyh8osi

This game going to be amazing. Hands down

11 : Anonymous2021/05/17 15:03 ID: gygaiui

As was the case with Insomniac's first Spider-Man game, if you're thorough enough then you can unlock Rift Apart's platinum trophy via just one playthrough

If it wasn't for the comparison to Spider-Man (which I believe had no missable trophies), I'd assume from the 'if' in this sentence that there'll be some missable trophies in here. It sounds like if you're not thorough enough you'll have to go back and replay the game or at least a chapter select to pick up collectibles/miscellaneous trophies that you missed.

Hopefully I'm proven wrong though. And it's good to see that there's at least no NG+ trophy.
