- [Igor's Lab] AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT with 8 GB memory - Exclusive details from internal slides and a first conclusion
-
Does anyone know with the current exchange rate 1 RX6600XT = how many units of kidneys?
ID: gygegkgID: gygfabhWe soon need a kidney pool
-
Tl;dr:
As a pure gamer card in Full HD resolution, this card will certainly be able to compete easily with an older Radeon RX 5700XT, as long as you use it in a system with 4th generation PCIe operates.
ID: gyhfrm6So it really needs a pcie 4 slot to operate at its best? At work and can't watch the vid! I didn't know cards were bottlenecked by pcie 3 just yet, or at least not significantly?
ID: gyhmfv4It's because the card, like the 5500 XT, only has an x8 PCIe link. The 5500 XT, and in particular the 4GB model of that card, saw performance degredation on PCIe 3.0 systems as a result. It will likely be worse on this card, given it's much faster than a 5500 XT and so will suffer more from the reduced bandwidth.
ID: gyhph7xBut this sub told me PCIe 3.0x8 was enough!!!

anyone knows what the msrp will be?
ID: gyf7ymdmsrp will be ... irrelevant
ID: gyfed2lMost accurate comment. The way gpu market is going on these days, talking about msrp is practically pointless.
ID: gyfw550the hidden text was satisfying. Gave me time to really wonder what kind of sad realistic joke you could be making.
ID: gygcjk1Our hopes for stock will be .. irrelevant
ID: gygef2qGiven taxes, shipping and the scalper's fee, I'm currently calculating an average of twice the MSRP in my country's stores. As long as it doesn't go above $350 MSRP, I might be able to afford it come December
ID: gyf7mtt...around GeForce RTX 3060's
ID: gyf8wmwSo not in the realm of 200usd.
That sucks.
ID: gyg09zdI know: it will be unrealistic. (as the Planet is busy inflating the crypto bubble, CumRocket coins are up, mother*****)
And yes, Cumrocket crypto is a real thing.
ID: gygkwz2And here I was thinking this was just a meme
ID: gygba1dIt will be = MSRP x 2
ID: gygo5enMSRP is irrelevant these days. Crypto and shortages control the price from now on until it gets under control.
-
Technically it should be for 299 .. but in scalpers era it ll be for 1000
ID: gyfunp9100% chance it will be more expensive than a 3060.
ID: gyfv2zi3060 ll be same performance cca. But we can check 6800xt and 3080
ID: gygdvyzBased on die size, I think it's more likely to be $360.
Something a lot of people aren't taking into consideration on the 6000 series.. they're built on the same process as the 5000 series but are much bigger, due to the cache. The 6700XT is ~ 33% bigger than the 5700XT, with ~ 70% more transistors.
GPUs have had a much lower margin than CPUs, at least in the past, so I wouldn't be surprised if inflated GPU prices are here to stay. I guess we can only pray that crypto tanks so demand for semiconductors lessens.
ID: gyh1ox5I think it ll be less . 360-399 ll be rx6700 price tag
-
Can't wait for these to be on the newegg shuffle for a cool 900.
-
Oh, please, these things are myths, like Bigfoot, or Wyoming
-
Nice another card that won't be affordable
ID: gyg7qmkIt will be affordable just maybe not this year.
ID: gyfnjesWAH WAH WAH :'(
Edit: I now regret making this comment
ID: gyftivtBro you got a vega 56. Shut up my dude, because just know AMD will probably stop giving you guys driver support soon if Radeon VII and Vega FE are anything to go by
ID: gyg7cggYou shouldn't regret it, people whining in every. single. comment section about not being able to buy a card is getting old and has been getting old for some time now.
-
AMD and NVidia should start releasing a new GPU every month. Or even every week. Just to give us a sense of progress. I couldn't buy any 5000 series and never saw a single 6000 series GPU available for purchase at anything lower than a used car price. Why not to release 9600 XT OC OP WC Ultra edition tomorrow? How is it going to make any difference for a regular user?
ID: gygttu3it doesnt and im honestly thinking about just unsubbing from most PC reddits at this point. Its just ridiculous seeing these reviews and stuff coming out for over a year without being able to buy one.
-
In performance, what would be this card's rival on the green side?
ID: gyh7lpcGeForce RTX 3060
-
Doesn't matter if it's the latest and greatest. All that does is price to performance. Currently it looks like nothing has improved from 6-7 years ago...
-
Welp. This is the one I have been waiting for. A worthy rx480 replacement. Guess I can keep waiting till it's in stock... It should make pretty much anything it's bitch at 2560x1080 for the next few years, and use hardly any more power than the 480 it replaces. And should be a perfect match with my 3300x. A 7700K/1080ti combo but at half the power draw 🙂
-
even the 6600 uses 1050mv and I am still locked at 1025 wtf amd?
UNLOCK THE FREAKING OC :(((
-
PCIe 4.0 x8 again???
ID: gyf3a10Budget gpus are down the drain until the end of this year at the earliest, Nvidia is releasing lower tier SKUs with 4 GB of Vram.
ID: gyf37w6??
this card wouldn't even max out pcie3, think it's just fine on pcie4x8..
ID: gyfnhkgThis has been tested and it isn't true, it affected both variants of the 5500xt, a far slower card than this will be.
ID: gyfa36nyes, but it screws people with pcie3 mobos.
ID: gyf4w3wIsn't that the same throughput as PCIe 3.0 16x?
ID: gyf77xbThe problem is when you are using it on a PCIe 3.0 board, like a B450/X470, etc., since you would be limited to PCIe 3.0 x8.
Usually not a problem unless you run out of VRAM (the access to system memory becomes much slower and reduces performance because of the limited bandwidth, if I understood it correctly.)
ID: gyf4xklHaving the equivalent bandwidth of PCIe 3.0 16x for a card that would perform similarly to a 2070 (or even less) would surely be adequate.. Plus it leaves more lanes for other things such as PCIe storage and whatnot.
ID: gyf3bguEven at pcie 3.0 x8 is that a bottleneck for a 6600xt? I mean, I wouldn't expect it to have a noticeable effect on even a 6900/3090
ID: gyf3jgrit was a bottleneck for the 5500 xt 4gb
ID: gyf7xpyI wouldn't expect it to have a noticeable effect on even a 6900/3090
It actually shaves off a few percent, iir techpowerup measures somewhere around 2-3%. With 16x 2.0 (so equivalent BW) vs 16x 3.0 with today's high end cards that is, not a card in the 6600 XT performance class.
-
8GB is it fucking joke? My old RX 580 had 8GB, not enough for 2021
-
If it’s a $300 card then that’s fine. You won’t be pushing a 5700xt-ish card last 8Gb.
-
3060 320$ 12GB
-
So... I shouldn't get this card for 4k gaming because it only has 8gb of vram?
-
Confusing question. Certainly, 8 gb of VRAM is a poor choice for 4k gaming, unless you like looking at far worse textures, or running out of vram in ways that affect some other, in game thing....
This card could play 4k games at a barely playable FPS, depending on other settings, and depending on the game.
I bet there are some games that would get above 30 fps with the right settings scaled back. Even above 50 fps, again depending on game or on settings.
-
Oh hey they've announced another video card nobody will be able to buy!
-
Booooo I can't mine with this trash
-
Just like with 3060.
-
I don't use garbage nvidia

About 1.6 kidneys, so you would need to call up a buddy if you want one
